CanadianChris Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Honestly, though, how many pitchers are able to throw 100 pitches in a game? It can't be many more than just Wood, can it? Johnson, Schilling, Halladay, Colon, Hudson, Mussina, Vazquez, Prior...I'm out. OK. Now might be a good time for me to mention my sarcasm. That would have been useful, yes.
the max Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 AJ Burnett too. I wonder whatever happened to that guy..... he had elbow surgery, didn't he?
Bruiser Chong Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 The Cubs are gonna owe me a heart transplant when this is over. And it's about to get even more tense with the Farns coming in.

Bruiser Chong Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Blah, double post. Didn't seem like it went through the first time. But anyway, thank god Farns rebounded from that walk. I still say Dusty shoulda stuck with Remlinger for the rest of the inning, since Borowski was the only one left down there after Farns. Thank god there's only one inning left, my nerves are shot.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 AJ Burnett too. I wonder whatever happened to that guy..... he had elbow surgery, didn't he? Bingo.
Mik Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 AJ Burnett too. I wonder whatever happened to that guy..... You'll find out in 2005 when he strikes out 14 Phillies.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 I'm not criticizing Burnett here. He's a great pitcher. My criticism is directed at the criminal misuse by Torberg & Co.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Braves LOSE!!!!!!! BRAVES LOSE!!!!!!!!!
the max Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 If/when McKeon stays, Burnett will be in good hands though.
the pinjockey Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 OK, I get that the Cubs have a national following, but Jesus christ the cheers at the end were ridiculous. Do Atlanta fans even give a damn?
A Happy Medium Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Go Cubs!! First playoff road victory since 1945!! Joe Borowski drives an ice cream truck covered in human skulls.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Well...consider that Cubs fans have had a playoff drought for a long time... while the Braves have managed to only win ONCE in the last 12 years of "dominance" I think Braves fans are just...used to it.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Braves LOSE!!!!!!! BRAVES LOSE!!!!!!!!! What else is new? This is the post-season.
A Happy Medium Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Well the Cubs did go to playoffs in atleast 84, 89, and 98..but meh. I was freaking out when Chipper grounded into the fielders choice that scored a run. I mean, he was out. Steve Lyons is a jackass.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 OK, I get that the Cubs have a national following, but Jesus christ the cheers at the end were ridiculous. Do Atlanta fans even give a damn? No. It's well documented that the Braves fans don't start coming out until the NLCS. I think having a split crowd helped out a lot, and it really made for a fun atmosphere tonight. I don't think I've ever been that tense during any sort of game in my entire life. I know it's one win, but statistics show just how important getting that first win in the NL is and on Atlanta's home turf, no less. The Cubs needed this one because who knows how Zambrano will fare with his first postseason outing being in such a tense atmosphere as it's sure to be. Being a Braves fan hurts. Heh, it's a long ways from the bandwagon to that ground, I'll tell you. I'm just glad I can finally breathe again, until tomorrow night that is.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 And yeah, Chipper was out on that groundball, but the runner gets the call in those situations. Luckily it didn't lead to anything else.
Downhome Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Being a Braves fan hurts. Heh, it's a long ways from the bandwagon to that ground, I'll tell you. I'm sure it is, but I'm no bandwagon fan. I've been an Atlanta Braves fan all of my life, it's my "home team" as I live just an hour or two up the road.
Gert T Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 American League Yankees over Twins in 3 Mmmmm, crow!
Brush with Greatness Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Well, the three teams I wanted to win today did just that. Now only if the BoSox can pull it off as well. Ideally, if it came down to Boston Minnesota Chicago San Fran Any of those teams winning the World Series would make me happy. A Boston v. Chicago final would just be awesome because one of those teams would finally have to win. Minnesota is cheered upon because of Corey Koskie (a fellow small town Manitoba boy) and because they are the closest MLB team to me. San Fran because I WANT BARRY BONDS TO WIN A WORLD SERIES. That's right, I said it and I don't give a shit what anybody else feels about him.
Vern Gagne Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Know who Fox didn't show enough of ? Kerry Wood's wife.
Vern Gagne Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 I don't have a problem with Thom Brennerman, he seems fine. Steve Lyons seems like he's watching a different game some of the time, or not even paying attention. You liked when Thom Brennan said managers seldom receive the credit for a teams success, but all the blame when something goes wrong. What alternative universe is he living in where that exists? One thing about LaTroy Hawkins. Hope you like Pinstripes, because that's where you're playing next year.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Know who Fox didn't show enough of ? Kerry Wood's wife. Who cares? If she had been some ugly broad, then yeah, maybe I'd care, but as it was, I had no problem looking at her.
Guest Choken One Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Better then when Fox showed Brenda Warner constantly during the rams championship year just to punish us
sfaJack Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Steve Lyons is a jackass. Yeah. I especially loved when Lofton dropped that bloop single into center and Wood came around to score the 4th run. Lyons was carrying on about what "great instincts" Wood has because he knew that ball would drop and was looking to score by hauling ass around third instead of holding up at second like a lot of players would. Fucking DUH! There were two outs at the time, lameass. OF COURSE he's going to be running. That shit right there made me wish for McCarver.
Bored Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Better then when Fox showed Brenda Warner constantly during the rams championship year just to punish us The worst ever was during the Atlanta Falcons' Dirty Bird days when they would show Jamal Anderson's mom every fuckin' game doing the Dirty Bird. I never wanted to hit a woman so much.
Guest Wildbomb 4:20 Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Game 1 of the best damn Divisional Series comes up tonight at 10... PEDRO. HUDSON. This is going to be very interesting. Pedro has had an absolutely fantastic September, with the offense continuing the torrid pace. But the Sox have always had trouble winning in Oakland, especially in the post-season. But hey, I think the Sox will split in Oakland, bring it back to Fenway, and win two straight. Pitching match-ups: 1. Pedro vs. Hudson 2. Wakefield vs. Zito 3. Lowe vs. Lilly 4. Pedro vs. Hudson/Zito 5. Lowe/Wakefield vs. Hudson/Zito Oh bloody hell this thing needs to end at 4 games...I don't feel confident giving the ball to Wakefield and Lowe twice within a best-of-5 series. I think that the best pitching match-up will come either tonight or on Saturday night, when they run Lowe vs. Lilly. Lilly has been hot, with Lowe stepping it up at the right time. But Lowe has really only been successful at home this season, which is why he's not #2 in the rotation. Crazy. I think tonight will wind up 3-1 Sox.
HarleyQuinn Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 Turning into a good game now, Giants up 4-3 in the 5th over the Marlins
