Ok, I hate Math. We don't get along. But for this course I'm doing in College, its a part of the criteria. Anyways, its called Solutions Planning, and its a pain in the BUTT. I havent been in school for the past 4 years, so I'm a little rusty, so forgive me.

Here's the problems I can't grasp..

a) 240 is what percent of 900?

b) 12 is 39.4% of what number?

c) A piece of Real Estate property increased $8,500.00 - an 8.5% increase in value- in 1993. What is the value of the real estate after the increase?

If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. But please, explain the answers.

A) Answer is 27%... Divide the 240 by 900 to get the answer.

So by that token...

45 is what percent of 910?

the answer is 45 divided by 910 = 0.0494505 --> 4.9% ?

b) divide 12 by .394

c) divide 8500 by .085 (.085x = 8500, divide both sides by .085 to get "x")

;) I believe he's right about both.

Math is the tool of satan. Proof: we all know that the Hebrew for "spirit of god" equals the number 300. There are 365 days in the year. Add them together and you get 665. There is 1 true God. Now add 1 and 665. The answer may disturb you.

Bah, I HATE it...

almost as much as diarrhea and Triple H promos.

And I wonder why I get such disgusted and/or terrified looks when I tell people I have a degree in statistics.

This is almost a trick question, as the way it's worded can make you think it's asking for an answer that it's not.

It's asking for the total value of the property, after the increase in value happened. It tells you that the cash value of the increase was $8,500 while the percentage value of the increase was 8.5%. Crunching the numbers, this means the property was worth $100,000 before the increase.

The final answer is: $108,500.00

I have no idea what this means, nor do I wish to contemplate the implications of this staement and how it affects our current plane of reality.
