I would've thought that being a member of the media that he would've known that as soon as you play the race card in ANYTHING, you will immediately be scrutinized as a racist, regardless of whether you are right or wrong. Rush should've been smarter about this. If he didn't like McNabb as a quarterback, he should have just let McNabb's suspect numbers do the talking instead of bringing up the race card. While I do think that Rush had a bit of a point, he was stupid in bringing up race when talking about football. Just stupid on his part. BTW, when ESPN was showing the replay of what Rush said, I was intrigued by the editing job. See, I saw the show live when Rush said it and Michael Irvin was audibly saying how he thought Rush had a point in between Jackson and Rush's arguments. They completely edited out Irvin's reactions and only cut to Jackson and Young's rebuttal's against Rush. When Rush said what he said, it registered as a blip on my radar that this is kind of out there for some football talk, but I didn't think anymore of it until it was all brought to a head yesterday by the McNabb press conference. All in all, I don't think he should have been fired...er...voluntarily resigned for the best intrest of the show, but what he said was COMPLETELY wrong with no way to actually argue that he had merit to it, seeing as there are way too many points to show that it's a FACT that bad QB's are shown as such and good QBs are called such. I can safely say that QB's are judge on their merit and not on race in this league. And DA, how are those numbers SUSPECT. Looking at his last five games (including playoff games against Atlanta and Tampa Bay)... CMP ATP YDS YPG TD INT 101 190 996 199 1 4 McNabb has basically been responsible for 1 Touchdown in 5 games (he didn't have any rushing scores in the same time period)... and thats simply odd considering his success prior to the injury. All I was pointing out was that Irvin said 3 or 4 times that he thought Rush had a point while Young and Jackson rebutted and ESPN edited his reactions out, making it seem that none of the other announcers agreed with Rush. When I first heard the exchange on Sunday I shook my head and thought ESPN will get a few e-mails from Rush-haters, but I didn't think THIS would happen. It was a ratings ploy from the start; it's not as if they could've given a blind eye to the entire thing and stick their fingers in their ears when groups like the NAACP and FAIR blasted ESPN for their hiring of Limbaugh. But, of course, Rush wasn't going to let the season go by without this sort of thign happening, and with their increased ratings due to Rush, people were actually watching when it happened. In fact, the worst case of all is this guy who has the biggest mouth, talks a lot of shit, and can NOT back it up on the field. He's extremely offensive, and simply put he's an ass. He was called the prototypical football player BEFORE HE PLAYED A FUCKING DOWN! He can't perform when it counts, has other guys whom are better than him at the position yet get no praise simply due to the fact that they're of different skin colour, or simply because they're not as LOUD~! as he is. Yeah, I would say that JEREMY SHOCKEY only gets all this hype due to his skin colour, and that if TONY MOTHERFUCKING GONZALEZ was white that he would be the fucking man at tight end. I mean really. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, I love Shockey AND his antics. But in no way does he deserve the press for what he does. No chance. I personally believe that it's because he's an ass, and that he has a big fucking mouth. Hopefully that shatters the myth for all you insecure white people now. Of course, those quarterbacks only get that airtime because they're black. It has nothing to do with the fact that they're exciting, and that at the times of their media hoopla they had the most potential surrounding their future. I mean really, a quarterback is bigger than the opposing linebacker and can hang with a few running backs and BEAT most tight ends in a foot race, and you think Daunte gets the praise because he's black? The media would most definitely want a black QB to rise up to the level of the above 6 men. I'm sorry, but Cunningham and Moon just don't belong in the same company as the above men. The media wants to advance a pro-minority stance and thus wants a truly legendary black QB to prove once and for all that QB isn't just a white man's position. As for the NFL, they see McNabb as $$$. If he can rise up to the EVENTUAL level of the above 6 men, then they can market McNabb to a wider base. And really, don't we ALL wanna see a black QB become a football legend? Its all something to THINK about. Something the hate-filled lynch mobs in the media never even stopped to do. Midway through the interview Visser said that since this guy was a Native American *I started to cringe because I knew what was coming next* she wanted to know how he felt representing his race. I screamed and turned off the TV. Since OK didn't win the NCAA tourney that year, I'm sure this coach felt he let "his people" down. It could have been worse -- at least Visser wasn't on an NFL sideline. -- kkk, who's still waiting for more of "my people" to break down that glass ceiling others may know as talent and play starting cornerback for more NFL teams...
