What 10 guys would you build WWE around?

Recommended Posts

Kurt Angle

The Rock

John Cena

Brock Lesnar

Triple H

Chris Jericho

Rob Van Dam

Rey Mysterio

Kane

Eddie Guerrero

Smackdown: 5

RAW: 5

Faces: 5

Heels: 5

The reason I've picked these 10 is that they've proved that they can get over and that people are interested in watching them.

If you have a problem with me picking Triple H, I don't care. He's no worse than anyone I left out, besides Benoit. I'm not picking Benoit because no one gives a shit about him. I'm sorry I'm not a Matt Hardy fanboy but he's really nothing special other than having a cool gimmick.

Hurting Heyman is reaching a bit.  I don't recall him messing up leading to Heyman being hurt.  I attribute it more to the fact that Paul was grossly out of shape and taking big bumps for the 1st time in a long time (and taking them relatively often).

Heyman isn't an active wrestler but he's still a person who got hurt. Even if you don't count Heyman, the other times stand.

Well, Holly was because he sanbagged him on a powerbomb. And where did he hurt himself against Big Show, I don't remember that one.

He injured his ribs before Survivor Series.

He got hurt because he was grossly out of shape, and his body wasn't conditioned to be taking big bumps, not because of Brock. I can't imagine the amount of weight he was carrying around all these years was doing his back any good, either.

And yet you have *Kane* on your list.

Somebody put this in their sig.

While you're at it, add the ratings Matt Hardy has drawn in compared to Kane's.

Exactly.

And for the above thing about Lesnar...didn't Show mess up a chokeslam injuring Brock's ribs. I can't remember that far back to be honest, but I'm sure that's what happened.

A-Train- I see this guy doing pretty well if they give him a sustained push and give him wins over people other than Steph McMahon and Funaki. He's not lost when he speaks and has a good voice. I've never seen him trip up a move and he's always incorporating new ones it seems. He's also young and trying to learn. I'd make him Jericho's bodyguard I think ala Diesel.

Actually, I see A-Train as somebody whop has a lot of room for improvement down the line. Not exactly a Benoit, but not a Nathan Jones, either.

I'd mention that Matt Hardy and Rey Misterio, when put in the main event slot, drew better than any main event had in quite some time, and that you can't compare the ratings being drawn of a storyless midcarder to a monster heel, but I also have Kane on my list, so what the hell.

I recall the Hardy/Rey Smackdown ME drawing a damn good rating.

But since then, he's literally done *nothing*. Short nothing feud w/ Gowan, left off PPV's, wrestling on Velocity.

EDIT: hey, Loss beat me to it.

1) Chris Jericho - the best entertainer in a sports entertainment capacity

2) Kurt Angle - the best entertainer in a wrestling capacity

3) Chris Benoit

4) Eddie Guerrero

5) RVD

6) Undertaker - *hides from the screaming internet fans* a lot of my problems with Taker has to do with his booking. Basically, I want a "classic legend" older character. I could do tons of things with him while using him to help building up newer wrestlers. And the list of classic legends basically boils down to either UT, HBK, Flair, and who else? HHH i guess since he's basically a cripple. HBK doesnt work as a legend imo, Basically UT and Flair are the best ones, but my reasons for UT over Flair have to do with booking reasons, and there's not point in getting specific since this is a list thread

7) Brock Lesner - resident bruiser monster #1

8) Rhyno - resident bruiser monster #2

9) John Cena

10) Rey Mysterio

I would have loved to have The Rock, but he's pretty much hanging out in Hollywood :(

1) Eddy

2) Jericho

3) Brock

4) Cena

5) Knoble

6) Matt Hardy

7) Edge (indifferent to him, but young & popular)

8) Benoit (although leery about how much is left in the tank)

9) Angle (see Benoit)

10) Haas/Benjamin

Just missing, aka "The Next Tier":

RVD

Helms - minus the Hurricane gimmick)

Rey - how much do his knees have left?

Spanky - very good worker, too good to be cannon fodder

Kanyon - should be a solid mid-carder already

Doug Basham - tag team is holding him back, solid worker

Jericho- He had a shitty 2000 IMO and sucked in 2001 until the end of the year.

What the...? Did you not see his matches with Triple H and Benoit? or the 5/21/01 tag?

Brock Lesnar- I'm very unforgiving of fucking up a WM main event that big. I wouldn't even keep the guy around as I see him as more of a burden and possible injury.

WHOA...you wouldn't keep LESNAR?! Something's seriously wrong here. ;)

Blowing one move didn't "fuck up a WM main event." Lesnar should be on EVERY list in this topic.

In alphabetical order:

Brock Lesnar

Charlies Haas

Chris Jericho

Eddie Guerrero

Edge

John Cena

Matt Hardy

Randy Orton

Rey Mysterio

Shelton Benjamin

And those who would be in my top 15:

11. Chavo Guerrero.

12. Spanky.

13. Yoshihiro Tajiri.

14. Rob Van Dam.

15. Paul London.

Benoit, Angle and HHH were left out due to their cloudy futures. If each can prove they're an in-ring asset past mid-2004, I'd love to put them at the top of the list.

1) Chris Jericho- Every federation needs a cornerstone, and Y2J would e mine. I'd finally let him live up to his destiny andbecome...the new Ric Flair.

2) Eddie Guerrero- Great matches, can be a greta hel or face, and would attract the latino audience...i can dig i.

3) Paul London- This guy knows how to connect with a crowd, can wretsle damn good too. He'd be my Sting-like Blue Chipper.

4 and 5) TWGTT-They would help hold y tag division together, before i moved them onto singles titles runs.

6. Matt Hardy- Just imagine a London/Hardy feud. Okay, thats my reason.

7.Rey Mysterio Jr.-My innuagural CW champion, help establish it, before he goes onto a world title run.

8.Sean 0"Haire-Every fed eeds a badassonster, and he'd be mine.

9 and 10) Chavo Jr. and Tajiri- Both can go from the CW division to upper midcard contenders.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent

Is there actually 10 guys who haven't been made to look like shit and could carry a company?

Guerrero

Lesnar

Benjamin/Haas

Goldberg

maybe Cena

But really, who hasn't been buried to all hell, and could realistically lead a major wrestling company? I don't see too many.

There's the money.....it was the McMahon family that made wrestling popular in the first place....shit, they are as big as Bennifer.

1. Kurt Angle

- obvious choice.

2. Chris Benoit

- obvious choice.

3. Matt Hardy

- Could be a great face or heel. It could go either way.

4. Eddy Guerrero

- The total package.

5. Brock Lesnar

- We need a beast.

6. Jericho

- We need a supreme mic worker.

7. The Undertaker

- We need a veteran to put everyone overe.

8. Vince McMahon

- If he stayed out of the ring, he could be a valuable asset for getting someone over. I'm sick of these half-ass alliances with Vince that fade or aren't very visible. I loved the Corporation angle, they should really do that again. I always thought that teaming Vince & Chris Benoit up would be great to see.

9. Rey Misterio

- Even if he never won the World Title, he could be a merchandising machine and will always put on good matches.

10. Edge

- Edge is destined to win that title someday. And I think we should build around him.

Alright, I'll bite. So, in no particular order, my top 10.

-Eddie Guerrero: Great in the ring, fine mic skills (would be better without riduculous accent), charisma, fan support, what more could you ask for?

-Edge: As long as he stays injury free, he's going straight to the top. I don't think that he should be heel though. The only heel he can, forseeably, pull off is comedy heel, and that's a big no-no.

-Chris Jericho: Fans either love him or hate him, but they're not indifferent, which is the important thing. He's been carrying Raw on his back (well, at least wrestling wise) for the past year or so. He's got mic skills, and wrestling skills.

-Sheldon Benjamin: Has had a great first year in WWE. He and Charlie are really coming out as their own. He's young, talented, and not too bad on the mic for someone who has barely been on the mic.

-Charlie Haas: Isn't as good as Sheldon, IMO, but still great. Mic skills needs a little work (not too big of a deal though).

-Matt Hardy: Laugh all you want, but I still maintain Matt is going to be HUGE. He's still very young (29ish, I believe), and has improved so much since breaking away from Jeff. Mark my words: he'll be WWE Champ one day.

-Brock Lesner: I'm not a huge fan of Brock's, but he's still very useful in building up a company.

-Rob Van Dam: Not the greatest wrestler or anything, but he's so damnn over. I still can't fathom why WWE didn't push him to the moon, but whatever.

-Chris Benoit: Even if he's getting up there in age, he's still a great wrestler. He makes an awesome intense heel or face, and despite what many say on this board, I think his mic skills are fine. Not his greatest skill, but still fine nevertheless.

-Rey Mysterio: This guy is a godsend for the cruiser division if they use him right (which they're starting to, surprisingly). He could be what they build the division on, and hopefully, it could be as good as it was in WCW.

Honorable Mentions: Cena, Spanky, Trish.

EDIT: Not sure why I didn't mention Angle, but if he doesn't injure himself, he's up there too.

Ok here goes....oh and if I were rebuilding the company the WWE style would be out the window. Guys would be able to cut loose and have the matches they should be having.

1) Chris Benoit: he would be my world champion. He would educate the fans back to wrestling. And I'd get him so over that when it comes time to retire he'll lose that title to the next big star and put them over huge.

2) RVD- he'd make a great main event face. he's already over huge and when I push him he'd be more over.

3) Chris Jericho- i'd make him what he was in WCW in 1997 only on the world title level. He would have no equal as far as heel heat goes.

4) Eddie Guerrerro- now here's a guy that has it all. With him and Benoit trading the title the fans would definetly be educated to wrestling.

5) Brian Kendrick- he would be one of my main event heels. Now you may think "Kendrick!? Main event!?" well i'd do it like this. We start a thing where Kendrick teams with a main event face, they capture the tag titles but he starts feeling shunted and looked on as the weak link. After they lose the tag titles because of his partner he says that they're the weak link and demands a PPV match. Then he goes over this partner totally clean. Then he starts getting an attitude and calling himself "the showstopper" this goads out HBK who tells him that he taught him everything and that he's the real showstopper. So Kendrick begins calling himself 'the new HBK' to really get under HBK's skin. So they have a match to determine who is better and Kendrick wins cleanly. Then Michaels comes out during a big match and helps Kendrick win declaring Kendrick the 'new HBK' and the best wrestler today. Voila...he'd be over and credible.

6) Rey Mysterio- he's the perfect #1 cruiserweight.

7) Matt Hardy- he'd make a great partner for Jericho and could join him on the main event heel scene EASILY.

8) TWGTT- need I say more...

9) Shane Helms- that's right...not the Hurricane but Shane Helms. His cocky "i'm the shit" attitude from real life would make a great heel character

10) Kurt Angle- after he was educated in something other than WWE style Kurt would be a great asset as a heel or face.
