BoboBrazil Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 The Rock has signed on to star in the New Line Cinema feature film "Instant Karma," according to Variety. The film will tell the story of a safecracker, played the Rock, who dies and is reincarnated as a series of different animals, moving his way up the food chain. Others signed to appear in the film are Pierce Brosnan, Mira Sorvino, David Alan Grier and Eartha Kitt while Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Gene Wilder and the comedy troupe Broken Lizard are signed to voice the animals in the film. The film is set to begin production in New Orleans in April 2004, which means The Rock could technically be available for Wrestlemania XX, depending on pre-production responsibilities.
Nevermortal Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Broken Lizard may be the only thing that can save that movie.
Guest Fook Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 This movie sounds absolutely shitacular!
Guest Bricks Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Huh? You get The Rock and James Bond in a movie together and the best thing they could come up with is Rock dies and turns into animals?
Lil' Bitch Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 God damn it, I was looking forward to seeing Spy Hunter instead!
OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Fuck. Not looking forward to all the stupid promos during Raw of Dom Deluise, Gene Wilder and Burt Reynolds sucking the Rock's ass about how good of an actor he is.

It'd work only if Burt demands his chyron changed to "Turd Ferguson".
BoboBrazil Posted October 14, 2003 Author Report Posted October 14, 2003 When is Rock's contract with WWE up? Isn't it next year? I can't see him resigning with them and letting Vince keep getting a cut of the money.
Repo Man jr Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 The film will tell the story of a safecracker, played by the Rock Cool sounds good... who dies Okay... and is reincarnated as a series of different animals, moving his way up the food chain. Oh man
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Huh? You get The Rock and James Bond in a movie together and the best thing they could come up with is Rock dies and turns into animals? My thoughts exactly. I'd prefer Rock being the next Bond villain to this.
Highland Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 It will either suck balls or be funny. My pessimism tells me it will suck balls.
iliketurtles Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 This movie likes somewhat of a funny comedy, but Rock as a heel in Bond would be EXCELLENT. Rock needs action movies, not comedy.
Guest Razor Roman Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Of all the projects for Gene Wilder to get involved in... he picks THIS?
Slayer Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 How many movies does this put on Rock's plate now, and for how long?
BoboBrazil Posted October 14, 2003 Author Report Posted October 14, 2003 He still has Spy Hunter, the king of Hawaii movie, Walking Tall, and now this one.
cynicalprofit Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 why couldnt they have done duke nukem.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Yep. He's filming Walking Tall right now, I believe. Dunno when he does the other ones.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Wasn't he also rumored for a live action Johnny Bravo movie?
jester Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Ok Rock, you have three choices. 1. Return to WWE, go to Raw, and likely get saved from Randy Orton beatdowns by Shane, and back him up during tag matches. 2. Return to WWE, go to Smackdown, and be involved in angles that revolve around feces. 3. Be in a movie where you get reincarnated as different animals. As bad as this movie sounds, let's face it. He made the right choice.
Guest Putty Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Dom DeLuise He's not dead yet? I remember him hosting "Candid Camera" in the early-90's, and even then he looked to be on the verge of a heart attack.
AndrewTS Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 I'm assuming he'll be a Brahma bull at some point in the movie.
SamoaRowe Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 The movie sounds awful... I can't wait to see it.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 I know he can't be too choosy, but is he just signing his name to anything at this point?
Youth N Asia Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 David Alan Grier *backs away slowly* I think I'll pass on this one. That guy is painfully unfunny and a bad actor
Guest Choken One Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Whoa...Rock is the anti Vin Diesel...He'll sign ANYTHING.
Guest Duncan Eternia Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 I think the movie sound funny as hell. The Rock can pull it off and make it good. By the way, the "Turd Fergueson" line had me cracking up!
Guest Duncan Eternia Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 OK I had an idea for this movie. The Rock dies and comes back as a little bug. Then get stomped and we here hear a horrible honking laugh, the camera goes up to show HHH mashing the bug into the ground and shaking his head.
