haVoc Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 The midget thing doesn't sound that bad. Probably will come off better on TV. Angle is gold in these comedy segments. God forbid he doesn't act like "Stone Cold" Jeff Jarrett errrr Austin...... BTW, is Angle and/or Cena injured? I can't remember the last time these two have wrestled on Smackdown?
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I am so glad I didn't go to this show! I only live an hour away from Cincy and I was thinking about it but decided to save my money because I knew it would be a McMahon heavy show since it is the last Smackdown before the PPV. I hope the reports are right that the fans gave WWE hell for the Stephanie segment. When will Vince and the writers ever learn that EVERYTHING should be done in the ring in front of the crowd. Fans don't pay tickets to watch boring/long backstage-interview segments on the big screen. I predict No Mercy is going to get a poor buyrate.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I see no mention of Matt Hardy or Zach Gowen on the spoilers. Did they scrap their PPV match AGAIN?

I read reports that a lot of fans walked out of their show, it comes to show u that the fans are very outspoken nowadays and are not going to waste their money on bad soap opera, Vince might own the wrestling world but there are more entertaining stuff out there besides wrestling.
2GOLD Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Hmmm Sounds like Cena/Angle feud died a hard death. You take an angle that SHOULD be used to get over Cena as a serious wrestler and bring in a midget? A midget?!?! When has a midget HELPED a feud? Not only that but the midget gets the best of Cena. Well, thank you WWE for ruining this match. Ok good, one reason not to order the PPV. Eddie/Show sounds like it was saved but of course, Eddie cannot lose the match now. When you get turned into a bloody mess just days before a PPV, you have to win at the PPV....unless you are fighting Triple H cause then you lose. Eddie defeats Show and heads to the World title match at SS. Sorta a reason to buy Steph/Vince.....four reasons not to buy. Sable, Stephanie, Linda and Vince. Man, this card actually makes RAW PPVs seem horrible instead of mind numbing like they usually seem. Can the Vince/Stephanie match end in Double DQ so they BOTH have to leave?
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 This is a horrible show leading to a PPV that nobody cares about. Albert, Vince, Stephanie and Zach all get PPV matches when these brand specific PPVs are suppose to offer more chances to deserving wrestlers to be on PPV. BTW, why wasn't the Tajiri/Rey match hyped on the show?
2GOLD Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 BTW, why wasn't the Tajiri/Rey match hyped on the show? Cause no one pays money to see small wrestlers! THEY PAY FOR HOSSES! Why hype a match no one cares about? All time needs to be spent on the exciting Vince vs Stephanie match that the fans have been begging for. I'm just shocked they didn't hold it for Wrestlemania.

It's true...a co worker of mine said many people around 20-30 people left the building during the McMahon segment and the boos were HUGE.
haVoc Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I see no mention of Matt Hardy or Zach Gowen on the spoilers. Did they scrap their PPV match AGAIN? Yup, looks like another Hardy match has been booted off a PPV. WWE.com has listed for No mercy Brock Vs Taker Vince Vs Steph Eddie Vs Big Show Angle Vs Cena Tajiri Vs Mysterio Benoit Vs A-Train
EdwardKnoxII Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 What's really funny is that I remember reading not to long ago about how at house shows Vince was telling wrestlers to watch and learn from him about getting heat from crowd cause he was one the most over heels in the WWE.

It sounds more like Vince wants heel wrestlers to turn into boring, monotonous slackers who say absolutely NOTHING interesting and turn the crowd away in the process.

Yeah and then when that happens Vince will put all the blame on the wrestlers for the bad turnout. Never mind the fact the folks booed and walked out segments that had the McMahons in them. Well, look who was the top Raw heel for the past year or so.
SamoaRowe Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I think No Mercy will turn out good on a workrate level but the buildup has been awful. I think Vince needs to stop smoking whatever he's been doing lately and realize that the WWF did just fine during the 80's when there were no McMahons in the storylines.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Ok, by "lately" you mean "for the past 3 years" right?
Jack_Bauer Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 No matter how badly you may want it to, No Mercy won't suck. It won't be blowaway amazing, but there will be enough good talent on there to give us two or three really good matches. That is all I want from the PPV to be honest.
Damaramu Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Yeah I don't think it'll suck. Unless they for some reason give Vince/Steph 20 minutes...then that could really drag the PPV down...
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Yet if I open my wallet for this PPV, I just know that WWE will automatically assume that it's towards Vince/Steph, and I wouldn't pay a penny in good conscience for them in a 'match'. They're not going to get the credit for me paying $30.
Jack_Bauer Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I couldnt care because i get the show for nothing Anyways, I would buy it because I'm not the sort of 'They'll think I am buying for this reason' kinda guy, I'm more of the 'This might be good so I'll buy it' kinda guy.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Would you still think that way even if you didn't have the "get show for free" option?
Jack_Bauer Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I buy the videos, so I think that registers in there. I buy what I like and I don't buy what I don't like.
Silence Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Well, look who was the top Raw heel for the past year or so. That's a damn good point, Andrew.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Some possible good news.. Smackdown opened with part of the Stephanie interview. They might not actually show it all.. And the Angle/Midget/Cena thing was semi hillarious.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 (edited) Ok..the Ref doesnt see danny basham sneak in the ring and switch with doug the first time, and yet he clearly sees the switch the 2nd time (back to doug in the ring)...and yet he lets Benoit get the tapout on Doug even though he should have thought it was Danny. *is confused* and bad news...after the Basham/Benoit match, its the Stephanie interview! Stephanie tries to cry and ends up laughing. Wonderful acting! The interview lasted 9 minutes and 50 seconds. Edited October 16, 2003 by MarvinisaLunatic
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Vince tells Tajiri to do something to Jamie Noble thats never been seen before, hence the black mist I suppose.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Imagine how that time could have been used developing an actual character on the show...
Guest Choken One Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 or giving the poor people in Cincy (your HOMETOWN for your developmentals) a good match... You'd think they had some tryout testing matches for the developmentals...
Damaramu Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Imagine how that time could have been used developing an actual character on the show... Get wrestlers over??? Preposterous!
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 (edited) Brock destroys Noble..out comes Vince and Sable for their interview... This second interview lasts 7 minutes and 20 seconds. Total interview Time devoted to Stephanie/Vince/Sable : 17 minutes and 10 seconds out of the first hour + of the show.
