Guest Eric the Eagle Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Sesaon 1 is definitively the weakest, but it's only half as long as the others and the writers took some time to find their groove, so that's to be expected, really. Personally, I think the fourth season is quite good, and Adam is an interesting big bad, even if his plan is stretching things slightly... I rank it much higher than season 1, but still as my second least favorite. BTW, I recently bought season 6, and I know it's caught a lot of grief, but damn, I thought it was great! I'd have liked it better if they'd dug up one of the old apocalyptic threaths rather than invent a new temple in the last ep, but in the end, I just love that season, In fact, I think it's my favorite, though I haven't seen the 7th season yet...
Cavi Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I really enjoyed Season Six. Seven ranges on weaksauce in my book. It's probably my least liked right next to the first season. As you pointed out, they were still getting to grips with everything way back then. Some of the stuff about Seven was just bogus.
LaParkaYourCar Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 If you really think about Season 4 it's main storyline was Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the Initiative and that was basically touched on in every episode except maybe Restless. It may not have been much, but there were glimpses of the cammando guys and stuff like that. The whole idea behind it was kind of cool too. A military organization that was harvesting demons to study and run experiments on. And of course make Adam. I used spoilers since the person that started this thread hasn't got that far.
Youth N Asia Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Even Buffy's worst season kicks ass season 3...best season 2 season 4 season 5 season 7 season 6 season 1

Very, very small spoiler for those who didn't see last night's Angel: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): did anyone catch Wesley's reference to the initiative? It was just a one-line thing, but I'm sure many people here caught it. I marked out for it
Mecha Mummy Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Spoiler (Highlight to Read): I missed it on the first go round but now I get the reference. Continuity rocks.

Mecha Mummy Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Argh, now I'm sucked in... 3 2 5 4 7 6 1
Mole Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Me and bps are the only ones who seem to like season 6 a lot.
Guest EQ Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I liked 6... although I refuse to rank them
Ravenbomb Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 (edited) if the ranking allowed two seasons to be tied, 5 and 6 would be tied for first, but since they don't... 5 (story arc was the best out of the whole show that I've seen, good Unhappy Characters episodes (The Body, for example), Glory, etc) 6 (Tons of Unhappy Character stuff, good villains, but it's focus seemed kinda...crokus) 3 (Good story arc, Faith, the Mayor, Dopplegangland, The Prom, which had kindof been set up for throughout the whole series so far, huge battle scene at the end (I marked when Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Buffy said 'NOW!' and ALL the students revealed the weapons and such , but it seemed like, as someone said before, Season 2 part 2) 2 (Anguls was the shit, Spike was, too, but I never liked Drucilla, and there was too much of the 'Monster of the Week' stuff, and Spike and Dru seemed kindof like placeholder Big Bads before Angelus turned) 4 (Adam was a great Big Bad, I liked his plan at the end, but again, the focus was all crokus, there wasn't much flow in the season. But it had Hush and Restless, so it gets big points for those) 1 (Nothing stood out, and it was too short. It's like that miniseries or TV movie that introduces a TV show and nothing really happens in it.) 5 is a little ahead because the story flowed a bit better, but it's REALLY close. And I haven't seen season 7 yet Edit: Added reasons, everybody else listed theirs Edited October 24, 2003 by Ravenbomb
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 What was the original topic?? RRR: Thinking about starting a "Buffy" thread, with just the word "Buffy" as the content... and then watching it balloon up to 15 pages in 1 week.
Hank Kingsley Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I would also like to add "Amends" to the "Kick Ass Episodes" list. Fantastic all around, and the introduction of the First Evil.
Guest Eric the Eagle Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Me and bps are the only ones who seem to like season 6 a lot. And me. Don't forget me. Only thing I really wish they'd done different is stretch out the plot where Willow meets a certain Warlock over two eps, instead of having it in one. The symbolism got a bit too heavy-handed there (keeping it vague deliberately here, to avoid spoiling).
Ravenbomb Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 hey, I loved season 6. Even the mostly panned episodes like As You Were and Doublemeat Palace "Even the pie?" "Well, probably not, but you never know! YOU NEVER KNOW!"
Youth N Asia Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I don't have a problem with season 6...I just don't think it's as good as 2-5 and 7. Even the worst Buffy season is better then the best Will and Grace season
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 How the fuck is season 7 LAST?
Youth N Asia Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Caleb is enough to put season 7 above last. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): CALEB: "I work in mysterious way." *stabs SIT* CALEB: "And in some pretty straight forward ones." RANDOM SIT: "NO!" Caleb: "Yes." I wish they could have brought him in sooner.
Guest EQ Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Caleb was awesome. I wish he'd stayed longer also.
Youth N Asia Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 You gotta love a guy who preaches the gospel one minute, and then damning little girls the next.

Hank Kingsley Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 From what I've seen: 3 4 2 1 Big list, yeah. The only difficult part is choosing between Seasons 3 and 4. I *love* 4, because it has Hush, Restless (2 of my favorite eps), Superstar (!), and Primeval. However, Season 3 is more rounded out. Like, I'll probably never watch "Living Conditions", "A New Man", or some other season 4 filler again, but I could watch all of Season 3 without skipping anything.
LaParkaYourCar Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Hey!!! "A New Man" is an awesome episode!!
Tawren Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 How the fuck is season 7 LAST? Because I found it too slow, repetitive, didn't have any stand-out episodes, and I felt the overall story-arc was too weak.
