Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Two quick questions: 1. Does Shiro Suzuki qualify for the Hall of Fame? 2. If so, when does he get in?
Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 21, 2004 About the Hall of Fame: The game has automatically inducted Shimetarou Naoki and Shiro Suzuki so far. I actually would like to follow the MLB rules for induction and have some kind of election, but I'd probably need to enlist the help of folks on the OOTP forum to help decide who would go into the Hall of Fame. I would make a ballot, complete with full stats for every retired player of a certain caliber (not every retired player who qualifies), since the first Hall of Fame class should probably be very exclusive. Then I would combine the Hall of Fame votes of people from the players themselves and others who have made an opinion based on the stats at the OOTP forum. I'm still working out the kinks, and it'd be best if all 31 of our players would be available to vote for the Hall of Fame, but asking for that would be a lot to ask for and it would likely take a good long time. So, bottom line: Officially in the game, Shimetarou Naoki and Shiro Suzuki were inducted, but if we follow the MLB rules of induction, no one can be inducted until the end of the 25th SFBL season. Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 22, 2004 SFBL April 2020 Best Team in April: The Vancouver Vasectomy, who have won nine of their last ten to take an early six game lead in the North, and a ten game lead over to Pride, who haven't seemed to recover from the heartbreaking loss to the Ignition in the 2019 NSCC. Worst Team in April: The Houston Horny Toads, who are in the cellar of the North-South Central and seven games off the lead. The hitting is decent but the pitching is anything but, and they are destined to have a very long season if they keep this up. Transactions: Trade between New Orleans and Columbus : Columbus gets : 1B Jesse Ewiak New Orleans gets : P Yosy Valdez Las Vegas: Released 3B Mike Van Siclen. Awards/SFBL Players In The News: Monday, April 2nd, 2020: Huge blow for Vancouver's Hermann (non-TSM player), career over VANCOUVER - It was one of the saddest days in Vasectomy franchise history. Vancouver's southpaw Jayme Hermann fell victim to a career ending injury in a game against New Jersey on Monday. He complained about pain after throwing a pitch to Eli Huerta, then suddenly collapsed. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed him with a torn ligament in his left elbow which will require surgery. His career featured a record of 178-101 with an ERA of 3.36. Baseball will certainly miss this great player. Evo Note: The worst part about this is that it hit in the tail end of the peak of his career, at the ripe age of thirty-six years old. He had a legitimate shot at 200 wins. Monday, April 16th, 2020: Player of the Week honors go to Desantis It's the 14th time that the North-South Player of the Week award goes to Atlanta's first baseman Carlos Desantis. He hit .538 with 13 RBI and slugged .923 in 26 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. While compiling an on base percentage of .542, Carlos hit .480 and slugged .860. He has collected 17 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the North-South in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI! Thursday, April 19th, 2020: New York's Soul out for 5 weeks NEW YORK - New York's right-hander Frigid Soul suffered a severe injury on Thursday and will be out for at least five weeks. In the third inning of the game against Philadelphia he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. The diagnosis was a torn tricep muscle after the x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials, but not very many New York fans, who have watched Soul suffer injury after injury since coming to the Bums. In four starts this year, Frigid struck out 21 batters in 21 innings of work. His ERA is 1.71, his record 2-0. Tuesday, May 1st, 2020: Atlanta's Desantis named Batter of the Month Atlanta's first baseman Carlos Desantis had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the North-South Batter of the Month. He had an on base percentage of .448 and hit .391, while driving in 27 runs. Tuesday, May 1st, 2020: Eric LeBeau named Pitcher of the Month Baltimore's pitcher Eric LeBeau is the East-West winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in April. He went 5-0 in April and finished the month with an ERA of 2.20. He struck out 22 in 45 innings. SFBL Standings Injuries: Wednesday 4/4/2020 : LA: Austin Sly was injured while running the bases. Diagnosis: Torn Groin Muscle. He is out for about 4 weeks. Wednesday 4/18/2020 : COL: Jesse Ewiak was injured while running the bases. Diagnosis: Bruised Heel. He is out for about 2 weeks. Thursday 4/19/2020 : NY: Frigid Soul was injured while pitching. Diagnosis: Torn Tricep Muscle. He will be OK in about 5 weeks. Sunday 4/22/2020 : KAN: Ann Onita was injured while pitching. Diagnosis: Strained Elbow Ligament. She is day-to-day, but full recovery will take one week. Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Not a bad debut for "C'est Bon the French Phenom!" It is just good to no longer have to be in AAA or among the bottom each year like Shiro was, and it looks like Chevalier has moved up in the batting order, and the Crunk Machine is leading the wildcard race. After spending so many seasons on teams that never even sniffed the playoffs, I'll take it.
Angel_Grace_Blue 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Evo, what the fuck? Tiny Gonzales is a closer. That's what I put on the damn stats. Me thinks a most horrible mistake was made...I know Rolf is the closer for Phoenix, but Tiny's player page lists him as a starter, and that is not correct. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Considering I'm on a team with only 8 wins, and I'm STILL 6th best TSM hitter, I think I am "Da Man". I'm going to shoot myself for taking that solemn vow not to ask for a trade, because if Philly doesn't get its act together, I so would. Next time, I'm putting "Desperately seeks winner" for my answer to dependancy on winning.

Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 25, 2004 SFBL May 2020 Best Team in April: The Denver Douchebags. The Douchebags have kept up with the Baltimore Crime Spree in the East-West Central with a 19-9 record, and are now one game behind the Crime Spree for first place in the division, which is looking just as competitive this year, but also better in general play, with all teams at .500 or higher. Worst Team in April: The Indianapolis Ignition. The defending SFBL Champions went 11-17 in the month of April. They were fortunate enough to only drop two games back in the standings and end up in third place behind the Memphis Eels, but this team is quickly looking like a fluke champion at 24-30 through the first two months of the season. Transactions: NONE! Awards/SFBL Players In The News: Wednesday, May 2nd, 2020: Abel Ortiz (non-TSM player) ropes 500th career homerun DENVER - Las Vegas' leftfielder Abel Ortiz was in a good mood after the game against Denver, and he had every reason as he made baseball history while collecting his 500th career homerun. In 16 years of big league action so far, Abel has compiled a batting average of .313, along with 2642 hits and 1669 RBI. Abel hit 30+ homeruns in a season 7 times, hitting 40 bombs 4 times. 'It's hard to believe that I did it. I want to thank my family, my friends and my teammates!' His monumental drive, a solo homerun off Louie Finer in the 10th inning, cleared the fence in right field. The Hall of Fame already has reserved a place for this great player. Friday, June 1st, 2020: Jenkins (OKL) wins monthly pitcher award Marvin Jenkins couldn't have pitched much better than he did in May, and the East-West thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. He started 6 games in May, going 5-0 and compiling an ERA of 2.66 in 47.1 innings. Marvin fanned 32 hitters during the month as well. His ERA of 2.87 has helped him to a 7-3 record this year. He struck out 59 and walked 30 in 84.2 innings. He's 3rd in the East-West in ERA and 4th in wins! SFBL Standings Injuries: Saturday 5/12/2020 : CHI: Logan Caldwell was injured while throwing a ball. Diagnosis: Blister On Finger. He is day-to-day, but full recovery will take 4 days. Saturday 5/19/2020 : COL: Jonathan Dehn was injured while running the bases. Diagnosis: Strained Abdominal Muscle. He is day-to-day, but full recovery will take one week. Tuesday 5/22/2020 : OKL: Charlie Simmons was injured while pitching. Diagnosis: Stiff Elbow. Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 25, 2004 THE SFBL POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT Starting with the 2020 SFBL season, there will be two different postseason events held. The first is the regular postseason to decide a champion for the SFBL, and the other is a special tournament held with the other 16 teams that did not make it into the regular postseason. This tournament is held under triple-elimination rules, and there is a small (yet substantial nonetheless) cash prize waiting for the winner. Teams will be seeded for this tournament by their final win-loss records. There is no discrimination between leagues as in the other postseason bracket; East-West and North-South teams may be facing each other as early as the first round. In the event of a tie in win-loss records, the following tiebreaker system will be used: 1) The team from the league that won the All-Star Game. 2) If both teams are from the same league, the team with the best head-to-head record. 3) If the record is even, the team with the biggest run differential (a formula found by subtracting runs scored from runs allowed) 4) If the run differential is even, then it will be my discretion of who will get the higher seed. The hope is that we don’t get to this point. The results of this tournament will affect nothing more than the cash balance of the top three teams. Draft order will still be determined upon the final win-loss record of this tournament. Prize breakdowns: 1st Place - $1,000,000 2nd Place - $500,000 3rd Place - $250,000 I don’t have an image of what the bracket would look like, but the pairings have been worked on all the way up to the final game that will be held. The plan is to start this tournament right at the beginning of the divisional round of the playoffs, and the plan is for it to end around the same time as the Conference Championships. Off-days will be taken on the same days that the regular postseason takes days off, including between rounds of the playoffs. Angel_Grace_Blue 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 I was thinking about waiting it out and everything, but I think I'd like to get Tiny traded to a team that will use him as a closer, or make the changes if that'll get him to be a closer. Though having a 3-4 record with a crappy duration rating isn't bad, especially with Phoenix. Oh, and a Nelson Muntz-esque "ha-ha!" to Jacksonville for being at the bottom of the south division. GO ATLANTA!
