Player of the Week honor goes to Seattle's Frost

 

The Player of the Week award in the East-West goes to the Seattle Frasiers' RJ Frost this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive performance in his conference. RJ pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .435 with 4 HR and 7 RBI while slugging 1.087. His season numbers are: .325 AVG, 132 hits, 17 doubles, 4 triples and 38 homeruns, along with 103 RBI and 89 runs scored. He's 10th in the East-West in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI!

 

Joseph Corbin slams three homeruns

 

ATLANTA - Hitting a homerun is fine, but hitting three of them in one game is something special. Charlotte's shortstop Joseph Corbin accomplished that feat in a 12-5 win over the Atlanta Hanoi Janes. In the 4th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Forest Kwong. A 451 foot drive to left-center marked his 2nd bomb, a two-run homerun off Kwong in the 6th inning. His 3rd shot, off Rudy Maring in the 7th inning, was a GRAND SLAM and cleared the fence in right field. Joseph finished with 3 hits in 4 AB, scoring FOUR times with 7 RBI. So far this season he is batting .256 with 23 homers and 60 RBI. Lloyd Bazley was the last player to hit 3 homeruns in a game, doing it 8/13/2015.

 

Hunter (Jokers) wins P.O.W. award

 

It's the 4th time that the East-West Player of the Week award goes to Las Vegas' second baseman David Hunter. Hunter helped his team with an average of .407 and 13 RBI in 27 at bats.

 

Oklahoma's Marsch severely injured

 

OKLAHOMA - Oklahoma's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, catcher Timothy Marsch, injured himself while rounding a base. The Twister is likely to miss 4-5 weeks. After being examined by several specialists, they diagnosed Marsch with a fractured knee. Marsch has hit for a .324 average this season. He has 36 extra base hits along with 202 total bases, resulting in a .471 slugging percentage. He's 6th in the East-West in batting!

 

Robert Henderson nabs five hits against Atlanta

 

VANCOUVER - Robert Henderson is among the best pure hitters in the game, but his 5 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself. His 1st hit, off Burt Carvey in the 1st inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in center field. His 3rd hit, a solo homerun off Carvey in the 5th inning, landed an estimated 422 feet from home plate. The game was tied 4-4 after the blast. He collected singles in the 3rd, 7th and 12th innings. Robert scored 3 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! He's having a very good season so far, batting .406. Vancouver improved its record to 68-60, scoring 7 runs on 12 hits.

 

Henderson wins P.O.W. award

 

Robert Henderson wins his 14th Player of the Week award. North-South pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He had an on base percentage of .720 and hit .696, while driving in 9 runs. Robert managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. He now has homered in 4 consecutive games as well! While compiling an on base percentage of .464, Robert hit .408 and slugged .729. He has collected 114 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the North-South in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 1st in RBI!

 

Red hot Henderson wins Batter of the Month award

 

The Batter of the Month award in the North-South goes to Vancouver's Robert Henderson, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive performance in the conference. He hit .440 with 24 RBI and slugged .780 in 109 at bats. His season numbers are: .407 AVG, 208 hits, 25 doubles, 9 triples and 39 homeruns, along with 118 RBI and 114 runs scored. He's 1st in the North-South in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 1st in RBI!

 

Columbus' Kostka named Pitcher of the Month.

 

Peter Kostka pitched like a legend in August, and the North-South Conference named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. His record of 3-0 in 6 starts was among the conference's best this month. In 43.1 innings of work he allowed just 27 hits while striking out 36, compiling an ERA of just 0.83. Peter pitched a shutout as well! In 28 starts this year, Peter has struck out 130 batters in 166 1/3 innings of work. His ERA is 3.35, his record 10-6. He has 3 complete games and 2 shutouts.

John Duran was picked up on the free agent block by the Denver Douchebags and has seen action in four more games than he already has under his belt this year (1 game before being picked up by Denver). Since Denver is attempting to line themselves up for a playoff spot, Duran might see some postseason action.

Evo mentioned to me on AIM, while he was simming, that there was a THIRD Las Vegas player with 50+ stolen bases.

RJ Frost wins his 11th Player of the Week award. East-West pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He hit .385 with 12 RBI and slugged 1.192 in 26 at bats. He now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well! His season numbers are: .319 AVG, 166 hits, 23 doubles, 4 triples, and 48 bombs, along with 127 RBI and 117 runs scored. He's 8th in the East-West in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI! Winston Ghandi from Jacksonville wins his 5th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers in the North-South this week. In 26 at bats, he hit .500 with one homer and 8 RBI.

 

Kostka (COL) wins monthly pitcher award

 

The best month of September in the North-South certainly belonged to Columbus' right-hander Peter Kostka, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. His ERA of just 0.30 helped him to a 4-0 record in September. He worked 29.2 innings, striking out 29 hitters while walking 3. This season Kostka compiled an ERA of 2.89, going 14-6 in 32 starts. He fanned 159 while giving up 176 hits in 196 innings. Peter has pitched 2 shutouts and 3 complete games.

I always encourage people to keep up to date with league happenings, even though it might be a while before your player makes it into the SFBL.

 

If my memory serves me correctly, you should be moving in during the 2017 season, which might be the third week of June if things get drawn out a little bit too far.

 

You do have some waiting to do, and it is false advertising to say that I am accepting rookies for the 2016 season when the waiting list is growing every day.
