Smartmarks Fake Baseball League

Recommended Posts

Well, it's nice to know that I'm off to a good start to the new year.

And Evo, why have I never had any changes to my stats during training camp? Ever since you've done them, never once has Edward James changed during it. Or at least it is seeming that way over the last five seasons or so.

But anyways, hopefully the Jokers do well in the off-season.

I'm going cuh-raaaazy with anticipation on the stats of my first start. I'm not going to ask for the stats of all my starts, but the first one is important.

1) Rolf Dreikugeln (1-3 (4 SV), 8.74 ERA, 4.66 ERC)

2) Ben Dover (released by the Transit Authority without starting in a major league game)

Notes: In his third season, Timothy Marsch is on pace for an amazing season in 2017. If he keeps up his performance that won him the Batter of the Month for April, he can finish with 258 hits, 45 doubles, 19 triples, 45 homeruns, and 161 runs batted in. The only hope that "Ion" can hold out is that he doesn't suffered the fractured knee that took a good portion out of the second half of his 2015 season.

The three rookies are all looking rather green, except for Adam West, who is showing some promise and might be a frontrunner for the Fresh Fish Award at the conclusion of the season.

Peter Kostka continues his odyssey of going from reliever to starting pitcher and somehow being one of the more consistently good pitchers in TSM history.

Brandon Rhodes and John Duran won't be making history anytime soon. Rhodes was sent all the way down to AA to work on his skills, while Duran has gone to AAA in the waning years of his career, which will likely be over before long.

In the spirit of Frigid's report, I will be doing a Fact or Fiction article shortly recapping April in a nutshell.

Oh, and Frigid's first start:

No-decision, 4 1/3 IP, 7 HA, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 Ks

Just a few things, Evo. You should change the link in your "personal website" thing, and maybe it was mentioned before and the idea was scrapped, but could you maybe list total Ks for pitchers?

Come on Atlanta, kick some ass!!

Well as a rookie I'm doing alright I suppose. Getting shelled in my first start is no big surprise. It appears I have a good K per 9 rate however. Perhaps Jenkins can work with me~

Evo, if Las Vegas continues to be in a hole during this season, I'd ask to have myself shopped around to help them out.

I'm getting the feeling I'm hindering the club, and not helping it to become better. So if we are dead last, shop me around. But from the looks of things, I'm not going to be a high commodity.

Total strikeouts will now be added to the pitcher stats in the rankings.

And Eddy J, a good general rule would probably be to have you shopped around if the Jokers are still dead last going into the first of July. That's around the all-star break, and that gives teams a full month to view you on the trading block.

For reference on the strikeout issue:

Name (Strikeouts)

Peter Kostka (32)

Eric LeBeau (28)

Frigid Soul (24) <--- that's an 8.4 K/9 ratio, FS.

Marvin Jenkins (22)

Gabriel Cirillo (21)

Giant Gonzales (20)

Nigel McClain (19)

Ann Onita (9)

Rolf Dreikugeln (6)

Ben Dover (0)

Once my guy gets more experience he's going to fucking rule. For a rookie that's a great K/9 ratio.

I find it funny that I've been raking in the K's ever since I became a starter, but the last two scouting reports I've seen say I still need to find my "out" pitch.

I need to get the ERA down a little, though. 3 and a half is a bit too high for my taste.

Hopefully Oklahoma just suffered from a slow start, but it seems like we're turning things around. Last 10 games we're 7-3. Hell, if we were in the west we would be a game back of first.

If I can just get on base, I am ok but man has it been rough hitting.

Couple of notes:

I realized that there is not a lot of material for a Fact/Fiction after the first month of the season, so I'm saving it for midseason when I will also be having the league leaders posted.

Dehn stole 13 bases in April. May has already been simulated, and the report for that month is on the way. I'll be expanding the rankings to include some other stats besides batting average, homeruns, and runs batted in. Pitchers will also get expanded stats aside from W-L record, earned run average, and component ERA.

For pitchers, if they have the option of showing it might I suggest WHIP and Walks added. That way the pitchers would see their

Win-Loss record, Ks, BBs, ERA, and WHIP.

An update:

I'm becoming very worried at my condition right now. I'm pretty sick, and I have been off and on for the past couple of weeks. I've been taking medication, hoping that it'll mercifully go away, but so far, no luck. It's gotten really bad lately, to the point where it's affecting me mentally to the point where I just can't get motivated to do an SFBL update. I know I should update it, but I just can't at this point. Hopefully I'll feel better after some rest, but I don't know.

Sorry to do this, but until I post it, don't expect an SFBL update.

I can't believe you only traded Henderson for one player. You'd figure he'd be worth that pictcher, maybe one or two good role players, two first round picks and a second round pick, or something similiar.

Anyway. Props for coming through with the update, Duran, although the new stats listing is a little crowded.

I'll leave it up to people to decide what stats they want to keep in the batting category. I've just thrown in some basic ones, and if there's a consensus on some that are just clutter, I'll throw them out.

Just wanted to be detailed and such.

My poor ERA...evidently I need to lower my walks. If I'm striking out as many as I am and walking that many too then I'm not lasting too long. Walks go down and my IP go up.
