The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 (edited) Rey/Tajiri- **** Albert/Benoit- *** Hardy/Zach- **1/4 APA/Bashams- *1/2 Steph/Vince- ** Cena/Angle- ***3/4 Show/Eddy- **3/4 Brock/'Taker- ***2/4 or 3/4, can't decide. Everything was entertaining, except APA/Bashams. Good card, all around. Rey/Tajiri grabs MOTW. Edited October 20, 2003 by CM Funk
Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 I will never, and I mean NEVER, doubt a WWE Smackdown PPV ever again. What I predicted to be one of the worst PPVs of all time, turned out to be fucking on FIRE in just about every way possible. Everyone worked their asses off, there was nothing at all on the PPV that absolutely BOMBED, and it was just fantastic. Whoever lays out the matches, they must've woke up today and just figured out how to put a show together out of nowhere. I couldn't be more pleased with No Mercy than I am. All of the above, I said that without even seeing the first three matches. The worst match that I personally saw was, obviously, Vince/Steph. With that said though, the way the match was laid out, it was actually pretty hot and I was actually into the match.. I never thought I'd be able to say that. The best match of the night was Taker/Brock, beating out Cena/Angle just BARELY, both of those matches were fucking on.
Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted October 20, 2003 2nd best PPV of the year, behind Vengeance. Rey/Tajiri and Brock/Taker were **** Angle/Cena was damn good as well. that is shocking to me still.. almost enough to make me want to buy the replay

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 Yeah, apparently Taker also ate Ultimo and absorbed his abilities like Majin Buu because he was doing lucha moves like the Magistrahl Crade, headscissors, etc.

Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Report post Posted October 20, 2003 (edited) I think this praise is madness. I thought it was really, really bad overall. Eddy/Show, APA/Bashams, and Brock/Taker almost put me to sleep, they were pretty much just really boring brawls. The booking of the Biker Chain match was just horrid, as it took FBI and Vinny Mac interference for Brock to go over, and the chain only actually being used once was just retarded. Benoit/Train was also pretty bad, and I can't believe that it's getting such praise despite the near death of Chris Benoit. Everything else was at least semi-decent, with nothing going over ***1/4 at the most (that's for Cena/Angle). I see that many will probably disagree with me, which blows my mind. I fully expected to come home and see all sorts of negative feedback, which I think this show deserves. Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 I can't express my love enough for the Taker/Brock turnbuckle spot. If you saw it, you know what I'm talking about, and it's NOT the huge ass (great by the way) chokeslam off the top rope.

I didn't quote or I would have. Besides, I added the Majin Buu part because normally you don't assimilate abilities that way.
Repo Man jr 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 I loved it. The Cena Angle match was highlight for me with super heat. Rey Tajiri, Benoit A Train, Vince Steph, and really good Brock Taker match were also great. Eddie Big Show and Hardy Gowen were both OK. APA Bashams wasn't horrible. I'd say my ppv of the year so far.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 It wasn't the total suckfest I was expecting. Opinions on the winners: Tajiri - Oh yeah! The plant fans got me by surprise though. Chris Benoit - I wanted to cry when Benoit locked the Sharpshooter on, I just hope he wasn't seriously injured from that blow to the head on the chair drop. Basham Bros - Yay! Go Bashams! Zach Gowen - FUCK YOU WWE! Matt jobbing was truly the low point of the night. Vince McMahon - I don't regret one bit of taking a piss break during this. Kurt Angle - The audience chants for both of them were fucking crazy. Angle / Cena fucking owned was without a doubt the MoTN. The Big Show - I figured this was going to happen. Despite the use of a trash can lid, brass knuckles. a title belt, and the Frog Splash, yeah I was a little disappointed with the poor selling. I just pray Eddie moves onto better from here on out. Brock Lesnar - Despite the screwjob finish, this is what the match from Unforgiven last year SHOULD have been. Good match, but I still think it would have been far better if it was just a regular chain match (HHH/Kane) instead of Chain on a Pole lameness. It was decent, I'm expecting a flop according to buyout rates though.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 Yes I was all set not to order it. Then I decided to give it a chance...just like Vengeance...holy jesus.
Styles 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 Wow. I just couldn't see this show being worth anything but it sounds awesome. I ordered Unforgiven and was pleased with a decent show with no blow away matches, yet missed No Mercy which had apparently several good matches. I wonder if I should order the replay or wait for the DVD or what?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 20, 2003 dvd is cheaper and you get reuse value...

I wonder if I should order the replay or wait for the DVD or what? DVD Quality is nice, but lack of Extras now makes it worthless. But its still cheaper so you should wait for the DVD I guess. But it's your choice. Just don't let it be the wrong one...
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 Cena/Angle- ***2/4 What fucking school did your ignorant ass go to? I actually tried to edit it to ***3/4 before you said that. Thought it worked. Anyways, yes, compared to my marks for the rest of the card, it deserves better. It was a pretty entertaining match, I admit. I'll edit that.
