alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 (edited) Does anyone have a capture of Shaq's little tirade on national tv yet? I don't have a clip or anything, but here's what was said: Shaq: "They wanna know why the league's losing money, that's why. These people pay good money to come see these great athletes, and they try to come in and take over the fuckin' game." Announcer: "Shaq, we're on live." Shaq: "I don't give a shit." This right after Fox and Payton nearly tore both of Vince Carter's arms out by the sockets. Poor Shaq, those Lakers just get no breaks from the officials. If he wants, I can send him a tape of Game 6 with the Kings a couple years ago and show him what a fat fucking hypocrite he is. Having said that though, he DOES have a point. The refs do have a job to do, but when it comes down to it, the players should dictate the game. Edited February 2, 2004 by alfdogg
Spicy McHaggis 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 If he wants, I can send him a tape of Game 6 with the Kings a couple years ago and show him what a fat fucking hypocrite he is. Pull out Game 5 while you're at it... specifically the illegal screen that Webber set on Fisher to free Bibby for the game-winning shot.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 (edited) Oh, sorry. One illegal screen justifies calling 27 fouls IN ONE FUCKING QUARTER. Silly me. Edited February 2, 2004 by alfdogg

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted February 2, 2004 Before you get too pissed at Shaq, remember that he also said that Carter should have had a foul called. Alf you're taking the loss well.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 (edited) Don't ignore the fact that I said he was RIGHT in what he said. I'm not "pissed" at Shaq at all, in fact I thought it was funny. It was just so blatantly hypocritical and ironic that I had to reach for an example, and that was the easiest one I could think of. I'm not a fan of any of the teams in this discussion. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted February 2, 2004 For those who complain about people flopping (me included), witness Chauncey Billups in last night's game against Memphis. It's tied at 78, and he goes up for a jumper and does that thing he did last year against the Nets at the end of game two where he kicks his legs out and falls on the ground, Gasol gets ALL BALL, but gets called for a foul with 0.2 left. Of course Billups proceeds to sink both free throws and Memphis gets screwed. Well, the last time I saw Billups hit a game-winner and NOT pretend to get fouled (against Minnesota), they called a foul on HIM. If I were him I'd act like I'd been fouled too. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2004 Just read that any Rookie Challenge player named to the All-Stars will be allowed to play in both games. The key word is allowed. Doesn't mean James will play in the Rookie Challenge. Hope he does though.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted February 3, 2004 LeBron didn't make the All Star game He and Mello weren't picked up as reserves so neither will be playing in the All Star game but the Rookie Game should be one of the best in years. LeBron dishing to Mello is gonna be sweet.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted February 3, 2004 I always love the Rookie Game. I mena there is just no semblence of anyone even trying to play defense, everyone just goes with the "Oh I'mm dunk on you mu fucker" and the guy who gets dunked on goes "Well fuck you, I'm gonna dunk on you now". What a horrible simulation I just projected, I apologize. So how did Ray Allen and Shaq make the Western All star teams despite being out more than they were in? MrRant 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2004 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3080 Ray has been very good in the 21 games he has been back. 23.5 PPG, 5.3APG, .374% 3PT Avg.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2004 (edited) Ray has been very good in the 21 games he has been back. I won't argue that the numbers are there, but this is the key number here IMO. He's definitely an All-Star with the full season, I won't argue that. Edited for grammar purposes Edited February 9, 2004 by alfdogg

Then the amount of lobs and attempted alley-oops would make the former coach-turned-colour-commentators furious.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Couple rumored trades: Corliss Williamson (Det) to Chicago for Marcus Fizer and Kendall Gill Chris Mills (Bos) (he's injured so it's a Terrell Brandon-type situation) to Seattle for Brent Barry
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Mills and Barry are both injuried, I'm guessing this trade is only for salary cap reasons.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Celts should just play for a nice lotto pick now, get a high profile coach and next year try and get some nice roleplayers to support Pierce.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Mills and Barry are both injuried, I'm guessing this trade is only for salary cap reasons. Barry is only out for a few weeks though, Mills is out for the year at *least*. So on Seattle's side, it's being done for money reasons. Plus Barry is in the last year of his contract. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 First off. It's basically a layup Madsen, make the dam basket. I'm getting tired of Sprewell's no show games. 4 or 6 points today. The Wolvees lose by 1. It's game like this that show the Wolves do need Wally.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Every year it seems the Blazers have one hot streak where they win like 10 straight or 13 out of 15 games so something like that, and it looks like it's happening again. Ever since the overtime win in Sacramento they've been a complete reversal of the team they were before that, they've won like 8 out of 10, and they're even winning on the road now. Maybe there's a slim chance they can keep the playoff streak going, though most of their remaining games are against western conference teams so i don't like their chances. They'll probably take it right down to the wire and miss the playoffs by half a game or something just to torment me.

Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted February 9, 2004 God damn, what the fuck Mark Madsen? He might as well have dropped the ball and started doing his dance of delight, it woulda been equally as embarassing. The Blazers have been playing very well sense they got Darius Miles. He fits well and I don't just mean in the missing practice sense.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Kyle Korver of the Sixers will replace Barry in the 3-point contest.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted February 9, 2004 1) Does anyone have a video clip of Madsen's miss? 2) Who's in the Dunk and 3-Point contests?
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 (edited) 3-point: Peja Stojakovic Cuttino Mobley Chauncey Billups Voshon Lenard Rashard Lewis Kyle Korver They haven't announced the dunk yet, but I'm almost positive Richardson will be back, and I've also heard Fred Jones of the Pacers will be in it. As far as Madsen's dunk goes, I don't have a clip, but he caught it right under the basket and instead of laying it in, he tried to finger roll it and it was too hard. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Who the hell picks these participants? * Rashard Lewis isn't even the best 3-point shooter on his team; he's the third or fourth-best, behind Ray Allen, Brent Barry, and maybe even Richie Frahm. * No one on the Mavericks was good enough to make the cut? I'd rather see Nash, Dirk, Antoine or even Tony Delk before Cuttino "Heads!" Mobley. * Reggie Miller only has a few more years left, why not have him shoot? * If I were picking, my 6 would be: Allen Houston, Ray Allen, Peja Stojakovic, Reggie Miller, one of the Mavericks (Dirk, Nash, Walker or Delk), and either Voshon Lenard or Kyle Korver. Is Richardson eligible for the Dunk Contest? You have to be in your third season or younger. My 6 (ignoring the age rule) would be Fred Jones, one of the Blazers (D. Miles, Outlaw or Q-Woods), LeBron (Just make him do it. He's obviously okay after that Lakers game), Jason Richardson, Desmond Mason and one superstar (for star power: Kobe, T-Mac, Vince...somebody). And I'm surprised Madsen was even on the court in crunch time. Shows he's making strides.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 I'd like to see Kyle Krover win. Not that I like him or anything, but I'd find it entertaining to see the rookie replacement beat these other guys including Peja, the best pure shooter in this league today. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Since we're doing mid-season awards and such, why not start looking forward to the draft? Assuming that the Lotto balls go in order, the Top 10 picks would go like this: 1. Orlando 2. Chicago 3. Washington 4. Atlanta 5. Phoenix 6. Cleveland (but I'm sure Stern will get the Cavs a Top 3 pick so LeBron can get some help) 7. Miami 8. Philadelphia 9. Golden State 10. Boston I can see Orlando getting Emeka Okafor from UConn.
