bobobrazil1984 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 A little late to this party... but damn that was a wild and shocking ending! Best show ever!!! My theory? Palmer got the virus at last season's cliffhanger, but Ann's medication has been keeping it at bay. or maybe, he needs some special medicine to "activate" it that's gonna be slipped into Ann's medicine. Just speculation (I would never look at 24 spoilers... man what a show!), but that would be a total "24" twist. When Jack and Hector hugged, my theory was actualy the opposite, that Hector was working CTU all along (and I was still yelling out holy shit) Daaamn, I've got to go d/l this episode to watch it again!
Stephen Joseph Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Okay that's completely implausible yo, because according to the show, THERE IS NO TREATMENT. The virus was a red herring
Spicy McHaggis Posted December 11, 2003 Author Report Posted December 11, 2003 My theory: During the three years between seasons, Nina was broken out of prison by the same terrorists that funded the Drazens (S1) and were behind the oil companies (S2). Mandy is the common thread between both seasons, signifying a terrorist mastermind group. The Salazars are now tied to this group. Nina was spotted with them after Ramon was imprisoned. So Jack & Tony (CTU), Gael (CIA), and the President came up with the plan to get Jack back undercover. That way they can get close to the virus (if their is one) and Nina & the terrorists.
Guest drdrainoscott Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 We're back for the last episode before the Winter Break. I have a feeling, based on the previews, that this is going to be a pretty dull episode that builds up to a huge cliffhanger to torture us for the next three weeks. We'll see...
the max Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 My digital tv guide says that "President Palmer comes down hard on Jack and Tony for keeping him in the dark on international affairs" Sounds like a good time to be had by all.
Mole Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Damn, this episode is pretty phat. My comments after I get back from LoTR.
El Gigante Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Damnit, why must we have to wait til Jan. 6!
the max Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Goddamn Chase screwing everything up. Looks to be awesome after the break... ... ... ... Is it January 6th yet?
Guest drdrainoscott Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I didn't think that the episode was anything special, though the preview looked awesome. How much does someone want to bet that the third party trying to buy the virus turns out to be Nina's Germans?
BlackFlagg Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 another set of buyers....can you say Nina and her German pals?
El Gigante Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I'm also going with the Nina theory as the other buyers.
BlackFlagg Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 If it is I hope we find out what the heck Jack whispered to her in season 2....it's still driving me nuts, heh
treble Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 That one dude's killed himself on 2 shows in just over a month, now.
the max Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 what other show did he kill himself on?
treble Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 On 'Without a Trace' he jumped out of a window.
chirs3 Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 (edited) While I understand the Nina theory, and think it's got a pretty good chance of being true, I was thinking... What if it's Mandy? We know she's connected - she was used by the Season 1 villains, and when they all died, she was still around doing the dirty work of the Season 2 villains (or rather, the work of the people behind the Season 2 villains). Considering she was used not by Kingsley, but by the people who were really running the show behind the scenes, we can assume she's a relatively important part of their operation, not just "Lackey X". So what I'm thinking is, Mandy is there to bid as a representative of whomever it is she's working for. This could, in turn, lead to Nina, or... you know... maybe not. Just an idea. I'm actually pulling for it to be Nina, but I'm just shooting out ideas here. Edited December 17, 2003 by chirs3
Guest drdrainoscott Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I'm sure Mandy has something to do with it, since her cameo in season 2 would lead us all to believe that she will be back, however the look that Bauer had on his face seems to indicate that the other buyer was someone he knew. That's what I got out of it at least.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Jack pulling the trigger on Chase was damn cool. He'd cut off his own balls for national security.
BlackFlagg Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I'm sure Mandy will be involved somewhere...but like said above the look on Jack's face says otherwise...but then again for all we know they fooled us in the teaser and the look on Jack's face isn't from the identity of the buyer but something else, wouldn't put it past em.
Guest OSIcon Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 They are definitely strongly hinting at the other bidder being someone that the audiance would know. Mandy and Nina were the first two people that sprung to mind. That guy on the boat who was pulling the strings in Season Two, Max, was also a thought I had (though he could be in prison since they send at the start of this season that the people behind the attack on Palmer were caught. So Mandy could actually be in jail too). Of course, if the look that Jack gives in the promo really is the look he gives when he sees the bidder's face, then it has to be Nina because chances are he doesn't even know what the other two look like nor would they warrent the look he gives. I'm also curious where the storyline with Palmer and his brother is going. They teased that he can't be trusted...wonder what the reason is for him not being able to be trusted.

Wondering about that too...and the guy who was saying that to David, anyone else thinking it's there father?
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Didn't they say it was the father at some point??? Maybe not, I was thinking it did, if it didn't then I guess I just assumed it RIGHT away. So, yeah, I think it's the father too.
packwingfn Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Call me crazy but add Sherry Palmer to the list yet I dont see her as a terroist, virus buying killer but you just know she'll be added to the list
Tim Cooke Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Nina isn't in prison. She was given the Presidential Pardon. Tim
chirs3 Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Nina isn't in prison. She was given the Presidential Pardon. Tim She was pardoned for all her previous crimes, yea. But isn't holding a federal agent at gunpoint (when she was planning to kill Jack and get pardoned for that too) something she could've been punished for?
The Dames Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 But Palmer said she COULD kill Jack, which lead to that tense stand off in Season 2. The only reason why she didn't was because the bomb needed to be found first. She was freed. Dames
