Guest Suicide King Report post Posted October 28, 2003 SWF Storm 11-1-2003 LIVE from the Five Seasons Center in Ames, Iowa! Matches due by 8:00 PM Eastern Send to: realitycheck Singles Match Erek Taylor vs. Jay Dawg To say that the Commish was unimpressed with Taylor's last outing would be an understatement. Well, if Taylor wants to get his shot at Strangler, he bloody well pull out an honest wrestling match here against the veteran Jay Dawg! Rules: Standard singles match. No-showing would be bad, Erek. Word Limit: 1500 Send to: realitycheck Singles Match Bastion v. Xero Of course, the Commish wasn't exactly impressed with Bastion either. Let's see if he can wrestle too, against perennial jobber Xero. If he loses, not only will he feel the shame of falling to the X-Man, but he will also lose his ICTV title shot against his friend(?) Xstasy. Rules: Standard singles match. No-showing would be bad, Bastion. Word Limit: 1500 Send to: chirs3 Tag Team Match The Boston Strangler and Dace Night vs. Michael Craven and Va'iaga Well, TBS is still in something of a funk, and the Commissioner has had just about enough. To fix it, Strangler will get to face two of the most vicious men in the federation... the Maori Badass and the King of Nightmares! But he will not be alone. No, in his corner will be the High Priest of Horrorcore! A more trustworthy partner could not be found, and more importantly if Strangler tries any of the non-violent crap his own partner will not hesitate to tap his head like a beer keg. Should we throw out the fact that this is also the first meeting in the ring of former tag partners and stable mates of Dace and Va'aiga? No, I didn't think so. Rules: Standard tag match. Remember the tag ropes. Word Limit: 3000 Send to: Grand Slam Hardcore Gamers Title Match Wildchild vs. "The Sinner" John Duran Special Guest Commentator: Johnny Dangerous Wildchild is free, but things in his life may have gotten a bit more complicated last show. Johnny Dangerous ran out from the back to make the save against Justice and Rule, but Wildchild's reception of this was understandably mixed. Well, Dangerous has been invited to ringside to explain his actions as his onetime tag partner defends his hardcore title against the always formidable John Duran! His tag partner has vanished into the ether, so John decided that the time has come for some individual glory! Can the Bahama Bomber hold off the juggernaut that is "The Sinner?" Rules: Hardcore rules. Pinfalls and submissions only in the ring. Word Limit: 4000 Send to: Suicide King Singles Match Ejiro Fasaki vs. "Judge Mental" William Hearford The Commissioner saw it coming, but was powerless to prevent it. Justice and Rule has once again risen to dominate the tag division, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Well, the Commish can try to crack the foundations of this effective, if evil, tag dynasty by forcing them into combat against each other, and hoping that the idiosyncracies and foibles exposed will be enough to tear them apart and allow another more virtuous tag team to pick up the pieces! Rules: Standard singles match Word Limit: 4000 Send to: realitycheck The word limits are not typos. This is an experiment to see if people will write more with smaller word limits. Don't necessarily get used to it, since it may not work. Think of the extra time as veg time, or promo time.

Coffin Surfer 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I like the small word counts, it's enough to make me come out of inactivity. It seems more realistic this way, since there aren't too many federations with 5+ fifteen minute matches on a t.v. card(and most PPV's either).
HVilleThugg 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I agree with that Danny, but I think that the 1500 is just too small. Personally, 9 times out of 10, my entrances come in at just under 1000 words...which leaves a bit more than 500 for a match. That's just not enough for even an opening card match that would be like 5 minutes long. However, the concept...I think, is there...we just need to fine tune it to find the approrpiate word limits for the different types of matches. Guest Goodear Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Well that's just an exercise in rationing out things Thugg. Hell, just give Xero the jobber's entrance and that should cut the entrances by 25-45%... then just bury the guy. It's not like you guys should be going back and forth at this point. HVilleThugg 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Yeah, obviously...with that short limit, he'll be in the ring already...however, just suppose this opening match was against someone who was actually around....then what? You can't write a competitive match in 1500 words. I'll say that it's gonna be even difficult to cover storyline stuff in 1500 words. 1500 is probably fine for squashes...but if the opponent is someone who is around, you can't just squash them or you won't win. Da "you know i'm right" H
Guest Goodear Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Yeah but what are the chances of a non-squash getting that kind of limit? Very, very slim. I'd actually like to see how I could work a 2000 word match myself...
Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Bah. Me thinks ye doth protest too much. If you ask me, we need more jobber matches on the weekly shows. I know I wouldn't mind padding my win total with a few squashes.
Kaertos 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 if I may throw in my two cents... I don't think there is any need to be concerned about how you would write a 1500 word match against a live opponent. There is a reason the two matches with the lowest totals are against jobbers...
HVilleThugg 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 You're probably right on that one Mark. By the way...can you tell King to respond to my PM. I'm still waiting for answers. Da "holding off judgement" H

Guest Insanityman Report post Posted October 29, 2003 (edited) I 'd like to say that these lower limits seem fine, but for main events maybe 4k is a bit skimpy. Heh, the 1.5k doesn't bother me because those matches were set up as they are for a reason. Anyway, it'd be hard not to show in some cases (did I mention the idea of less build up and just jumping into action appeals to me?). Anyway, it should be a decent show, good luck to all. Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Would it be too much to ask that someone confirm that the deadline is in fact Nov 1, and I'm not just reading that wrong?
Crowe 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Due November 1st, WC. And smaller word limits, I don't know about this, I used to have trouble keeping my matches on the 6k limit... :| However, I wanna see how this show pans out before I pass any judgement.
