rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 So, by their logic, is it ok to say "cunting"?
iliketurtles Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Hey, if they let the Sunday Night Sex Show on Oxygen on air...then who gives a fuck whatelse they put on.
Jobber of the Week Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 So does this mean we can get rid of the "FOCK FEAR" shirts now?
Slayer Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 They also played it at 1AM, and technically cable is not under the jurisdiction of the FCC, just broadcast networks like CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX. The reason we don't see really hardcore stuff on basic cable is fear of advertisors pulling out. Hehehe, you said "pulling out" But yes, apparently overnight is still fair game for cable networks, as I've seen quite a few commercials for things like getting porn tapes in the mail around the 2-3AM mark (back when I used to work overnights) Good, it's about time. Television and most other forms of entertainment have always been afraid to show or say what happens in the real world. Only in the United States, really ... You're Canadian right? Isn't that the same county that won't show any type of violence towards women? That happens in the real world last I checked But really though, what are Canadian TV standards? And any of you other int'l posters (UK, Australia, etc.) feel free to answer for your country as well
Guest stardust Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Hey, if they let the Sunday Night Sex Show on Oxygen on air...then who gives a fuck whatelse they put on. That old lady cracks me up. There's just something disturbing yet oddly hilarious about watching someone old enough to be my grandmother talk about dildos and sexual positions. I'm guessing they can air that show, though, because it's "educational." That, and some cable companies don't carry the Oxygen network on basic cable, either.
Highland Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Canadian standards are fucked up, to say the least. Yes, we'll show nudity and swearing, and also most forms of violence, but apparently violence against women rates worse than showing cunnilingis or some guy saying 'fuck off and die' while blowing someone apart with a shotgun.
Guest OSIcon Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 The word as been used a good bit on TV before. I'm pretty sure that MTV's "Scared Straight" special was completely uncensored with "fuck" and plenty else allowed to go through. Of course, if a normal TV drama just started doing it on a random basis without any significance, that would probably still cause a problem.
Highland Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 One thing I really wish we had are the cool commercials they have in Europe (according to those Funniest Commercials specials)

Well, now that I think about it, it's only censoring male-on-female violence, as apparently female-on-female violence is okay, as you apparently still get WWE women's matches up there Now if they banned those off TV... I would envy Canada

Slayer Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Oh to return to the times before the grand moral crusade... (found the thread while searching through old posts and thought the retrospect was interesting)
CanadianGuitarist Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Tonight on the hit show "Cop Drama"... Beat me to it. You got some shit on your face, eh? A fine pic, Starvenger.
Jingus Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 America, FUCK YEAH! Did anyone ever actually say fuck on primetime TV? Except for exceptions like the almost unedited Schindler's List broadcast and so on.
Slayer Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Tonight on the hit show "Cop Drama"... Beat me to it. By almost two years, yes

LaParkaYourCar Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 So does this mean we can get rid of the "FOCK FEAR" shirts now? No, that would be a verb usage of "fuck"
The Ill One Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 America, FUCK YEAH! Did anyone ever actually say fuck on primetime TV? Except for exceptions like the almost unedited Schindler's List broadcast and so on. Didn't Bono at an awards ceremony say, "This is fucking brilliant?" or something to that extent? In Times there was an article a couple weeks back about if television had gone too far. Then in a poll I found a really, really bizarre statistic- Majority of America agreed that breast-baring during any time isn't called for. ... However full frontal nudity was supported by majority.
