Mecha Mummy Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - WWE has told the Hurricane to stop using the chokeslam move. They feel he is too small to pull off the move in a convincing manner. Awww, dammit.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. Hah, they want to make Kidman even more bland. This news sucks.
Downhome Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. Somebody, hold me back, do it, HOLD ME BACK! - WWE has told the Hurricane to stop using the chokeslam move. They feel he is too small to pull off the move in a convincing manner. I'll say it again, HOLD ME BACK!
dubq Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - WWE has grown concerned with Rikishi's weight. He put on some extra weight when he was out for a few months recently and WWE wants him to lose some of it. Jesus, they're concerned about his weight NOW?!
razazteca Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 So Spanky, London, Kidman will slowly devolve into Jeff Hardy?
Downhome Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - WWE has grown concerned with Rikishi's weight. He put on some extra weight when he was out for a few months recently and WWE wants him to lose some of it. Jesus, they're concerned about his weight NOW?! I haven't been concerned with it untill he made his return last week. I'll admit that the man looked, and moved, like shit in that match on SD last week. I can't believe that they allowed him to be on TV looking like that, he looked horrible. I mean, horrible for Rikishi is pretty fucked up. The moment I saw the guy last week, I knew something was up. I really hope he can overcome this though, I really do.
Mecha Mummy Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 That won't take Kidman long; he's already got fucking his own finisher up down.
Downhome Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 So Spanky, London, Kidman will slowly devolve into Jeff Hardy? [TEENAGE FEMALE]We can only hope! *high pitch* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~![/TEENAGE FEMALE]
Spaceman Spiff Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - WWE has grown concerned with Rikishi's weight. He put on some extra weight when he was out for a few months recently and WWE wants him to lose some of it. *Some* extra weight? The dude could hardly move his arms, he was so bloated. - WWE was pleased with the work of Horshu at the Canadian house shows over the weekend. They feel he has a lot of potential. Uh-oh... - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. Yeah, why bother entertaining fans at a house show? It's not like any are involved in any current storylines, so might as well have them give the fans their money's worth, rather than kick-punch-chinlock. - WWE has told the Hurricane to stop using the chokeslam move. They feel he is too small to pull off the move in a convincing manner. Bah. When was the last time he even connected w/ it?
Guest Fook Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. Yeah, who wants fast-paced action? More chinlocks! More I say! - WWE has told the Hurricane to stop using the chokeslam move. They feel he is too small to pull off the move in a convincing manner. Isn't that the point of him using the chokeslam? That he's too small for it to be taken seriously?
Guest JumpinJackFlash Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 The chokeslam was a big part of the hurricane's gimmick. It showed that with his super-strength powers, he could fend off the largest of evils.
haVoc Posted November 4, 2003 Author Report Posted November 4, 2003 It was suppose to be the reason for it. Hurricane choke slamming the Rock was the greatest chokeslam of all time.
Guest Dids Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 What's stupid- is that if the Hurricane thing is true- they're basically saying "we don't trust our fans to get even the most obvious of jokes"
Silence Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. See, this is exactly why Paul London shouldn't have signed with WWE, because everyone of us knew that his offense would get cut out from under him, along with his SSP just because Kidman (whose SSP isn't all that great) uses it too. I wonder when WWE's going to start telling Benoit, Angle, and Jericho to stop doing technical wrestling simply because WWE thinks it "bores the crowd" or some bullshit like that? Damn it, this is why I think ROH needs to figure out a way to become WWE's newest competitor by getting a TV and PPV deal.

Ask WWE fans if they'd rather watch Angle/Benoit or Vince/Hogan...
Crimson Platypus Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 - WWE has grown concerned with Rikishi's weight. He put on some extra weight when he was out for a few months recently and WWE wants him to lose some of it. Yeah no shit. His gimmick is he is a fat ass that dances and sticks his ass in people's faces. - WWE was pleased with the work of Horshu at the Canadian house shows over the weekend. They feel he has a lot of potential. Never seen him, but I can guess he's a HOSS~ - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. 2nd worst idea ever. - WWE has told the Hurricane to stop using the chokeslam move. They feel he is too small to pull off the move in a convincing manner. This makes Platypi sad. - WWE is very high on Jindrak and Cade and feel they have a bright future. They think that Cade is ahead of Jindrak in terms of development, but that both are good young talents. Development? What development? - Steven Richards aggravated a shoulder injury that he has had since his ECW days last night on RAW. He took a stiff slam from John Heidenreich. tpww7 Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 So..the ALREADY TONED DOWN acts of Spanky and London are to be toned down even more? Jesus Christ.
Mecha Mummy Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Never seen him, but I can guess he's a HOSS~ Correctamundo. Not only that, but if you go by Meltzer's appraisal of him, he's not even ready for OVW TV let alone Raw or Smackdown.

Fökai Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 See, this is exactly why Paul London shouldn't have signed with WWE, because everyone of us knew that his offense would get cut out from under him, It's HIS DREAM to sign with the WWE. He could care less, if he's playing the role of Doink or jobbing on the B-shows. Anything more, is just great news for him. along with his SSP just because Kidman (whose SSP isn't all that great) uses it too. He used his London Calling AS A JOBBER in a developmental match against Matt Hardy. They're not restricting any of his moveset as of yet. He and Spanky have been finishing off opponents with a double-team manuever, because they're trying to get them over as....GASP!!!...a credible TAG TEAM. I wonder when WWE's going to start telling Benoit, Angle, and Jericho to stop doing technical wrestling simply because WWE thinks it "bores the crowd" or some bullshit like that? Great for missing the point entirely. They're talking about slowing down their high-flying offense at the house shows, so that the the constant string of house-show injuries are cut off at the pass.

They're talking about slowing down their high-flying offense at the house shows, so that the the constant string of house-show injuries are cut off at the pass. That's possible, but you could also take the phrase... - Spanky, Paul London, and Kidman were told to "slow it down" in regard to their ring style at the house shows this weekend. WWE told them to use their "less is more" theory. ...to mean that at the house shows this weekend, they were told to "slow it down". Meaning not JUST at house shows, but overall. The statement isn't really clear.
Fökai Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 ...to mean that at the house shows this weekend, they were told to "slow it down". Meaning not JUST at house shows, but overall. The statement isn't really clear. Kidman hasn't used anything relatively "dangerous" on television since his return (save for the planchas he did back in July). He also moves like molasses (for a cruiserweight), considering he's put on 25-30 pounds since his injury.

Uhh...he's done stuff relatively dangerous on television since he broke off ties with Mysterio? Maybe I haven't paid enough attention to his matches (granted, he's working Velocity exclusively now).
Downhome Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 No, I agree with you. I just didn't see what that had to do with what I said, that's all.
Fökai Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I just didn't see what that had to do with what I said, that's all. Kidman hasn't been doing anything relatively dangerous on television. My point was - why would the agents (or higher-ups) ask him to tone down his television style, as weak as it is, on top of his house show style?

I don't know, but I'd imagine that their saying that to the three guys was more so focused on Spanky and London.
Fökai Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I don't know, but I'd imagine that their saying that to the three guys was more so focused on Spanky and London. I assume Spanky and London, as a team, goes "balls out" on the house show circuit to get the crowds pumped. Working in the ROH environment, they've learned to put out the best exhibition of wrestling that they can. Thing is, their new company goes out four times a week (with weekly TV tapings), so they're still learning on how to "hold back" on the house show audience. Maybe it isn't the agent's position to say so, but they're just trying to prevent the younger guys from the risks of injuries. Just my opinion.
jester Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 [WWE FRONT OFFICE] You new guys need to "step up" if you want a major push and be a superstar. But you can't have promo time, can't wrestle more than a 1:20 in squash mash to the Hoss of the Month, and if we do give you more time, then you need to slow down your in ring style. Now, why the fuck aren't you new guys over? What's wrong with you?[/WWE FRONT OFFICE]
