MTV's Viva La Bam and WildBoyz

i dont "know" this for fact but what i beleive is the bam crew and the knoxville crew were each doing their own thing and as is common in the skating world troupes/groups usually hear of each other ..when MTV wanted to do a show based off of the stuff they saw knoxville's Big Brother videos (the taser and all that) they recomended Bam/the cky people to fill up the show

 

jackass really was like always 3 parts

 

the knoxville crew stuff

old and new cky stuff (some stuff is right from the CKY videos)

then all of them together (as the show went on you saw a lot more of this)

 

knoxville was frustraed with the limits from MTV plus was ina few movies (MIB and Big Trouble) i just dont think he felt it was worth the time or aggravation

 

speaking of the seperate crews i know Bam/CKY is in pennsylvania cause they say it all the time where was the other crew based out of??

You could always tell the show featured two different crews.

 

I'd say the Knoxville crew was based out of Florida or California. They always seemed to be in a warmer climate.

Knoxville (the true weak link in the show, in my opinion), is acting.

 

Ehren, Dave England, and Preston seem to have dropped off the face of the earth.

 

Wee Man is doing some extreme sports show on Fox Sportsnet.

I think Steve-O's the weakest link of the show because his segments are never ha-ha funny, they're just oh my god that's fucking sick funny. I really don't like WildBoyz much, a semi-educational hybrid of Jack Hanna's Animal Adventures and Jackass...no thank you. Now Viva Le Bam on the other hand is hillarious.

I can't believe how many people on this board are anti-MTV yet fall into their trap with Viva La Bam. I've talked to my friends about it and they say that they don't think any of his stuff is funny and think he was the weak link of Jackass.

So that explains why almost half of the footage on Jackass the show was from CKY, written by Bam and Brandon?

And that doesn't make him the weak link how? Triple H used to make up 80% of RAW, did that make him the best guy there? The Knoxville Crew made me laugh a lot more than CKY. I just view it as being different. Knoxville's crew seemed to me like they were doing stupid shit for the sake of doing stupid shit to entertain. CKY's stuff just seems like it's "we're cool because we're rebels and skateboard and we act like jackasses". It's almost two different types of material. I don't think that ANYTHING Bam and CKY does is cool and I'm not looking for young kids on MTV to be my role models so I don't care if they're considered cool. I like watching stupid shit for shits and giggles, not to feel like "ohh yeah that was totally cool how he transformed his house into a skating park yet is going to transform it right back. haha funny."

 

Last I heard Jackass was cancelled in the first place and these branches started happening because Knoxville turned himself into police.

I do have friends who are hyper and, well, jackasses like Bam and crew. Luckily I also have dull friends to keep my sanity. Anyway, I think Bam and CKY are much better than Knoxville and crew but that's because I've never cared for them. Oh and any CKY movie was better than the Jackass movie. Why then didn't Kristi Yamaguchi have a show called Conichiwa La Kristi that was about her and her friends figure skating and picking on her parents? Come on. She's done Olympic figure skating, has money, and she's really good at skating.

 

I understand being into something but if you're doing a stupidity/prank show, I don't want to have all their agendas pushed on me then be expected to laugh after I'm sick of them. I used to like Bam back on Jackass when he wasn't THE focal point.

he hates his parents? oh, so I guess him inviting them to live in HIS house means that he hates their guts, right? His 'material' isn't always based on Phil, just now MTV decided that Phil being picked on is funny. The thought and sight of seeing an overweight man with little hamburgers screened onto all of his clothes is funny though, as is the prospect of him not being able to eat for a day and the hijinks that ensue. Not all of Bam's so-called material has focused on April and Phil...they do a lot of stunts and random moments on the CKY videos, which deemed him ready for real TV.

It's not just doing stupid shit. Jackass and the Knoxville crew were about doing stupid shit to get people to laugh. While watching Viva La Bam I've learned that I'm supposed to think:

 

1.)Skateboarding is cool

2.)Making fun of my dad's weight problem is really funny

3.)Skateboarding is cool

4.)Being a rebel and turning the house into a skate park only to turn it back after the taping is done is cool

5.)Skateboarding is cool

6.)You too can be the Steve McMichael of a show but end up being more popular because one is either pending trial or working on landing move gigs and the other two are given a cool concept that couldn't possibly be grasped by anyone who watches MTV

7.)Skateboarding is cool

8.)It's cool to hate MTV and be against their mainstream tripe until you become that mainstream tripe and they're signing your checks

9.)Skateboarding is still cool

10.)It's ok to iron hamburger patches onto people's clothes and break their van because you're a rebel but you will be buying replacements

The reason why CKY would not get half an hour is simple. TV has restrictions and CKY's stuff wouldn't be shown on TV. That is also the reason why Jackass is no longer on the air. They did all they could on TV. And so what if MTV airs the show? If they really hated MTV they wouldn't do it. You can argue all you want about money but in the end they're doing the show. The CKY band has already expressed their hatred for MTV and you don't/won't see them at all on the show.
