Vyce 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2003 You know who Randy Orton reminds me of? Mike Sanders. Why did that guy get high marks from the internet community, yet Orton can't seem to catch a break? Because Sanders > Randy Orton. Again, not saying Sanders was some sort of god among men, but he was (and perhaps still is) a more compelling character than Orton and had more charisma / presence on the mike (workrate wise, I'd say neither is too great). BTW, I obviously agree with you, Choken, about SOH, but don't want to strongly argue that point for fear of attracting Anglesault and the rest.
Guest Boddicker Report post Posted November 9, 2003 Nobody would buy Batista v. Goldberg as the main event. I'd rather watch that match than see HHH win the belt again. At least it's something different. Plus, I rather like Batista in his current form. He's probably the Hoss with the most potential on RAW, at least to me anyway. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 9, 2003 If they Want to push a Hoss or a "Blue Chipper" then push one that has some charisma or something. Sean O Haire might not be good in the ring but either is Orton. At least SOH has a completely different look and has a little charisma... He also had a slam dunk gimmick that he failed to peform well.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 - The plan right now is to have John Heidenreich's "Little Johnny" be a doll, not an imaginary person. Maybe someone in the WWE does read this board. The only problem being they take the joke ideas seriously. Cause I'm sure I and a few others said Little Johnny would be a doll. I said he would be like Head. I really hate these writers. I really do. John may be a green as the Oregon Ducks jersey but no one deserves to get saddled with a damn dummy. Also, can we recap what legends Randy Orton has killed? He threw Mick down some stairs and suddenly he was a legend killer. You know, a legend killer gimmick only works if you have...killed some legends other than Moolah and Mae Young. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 I'd actually put Sanders with the second-tier mic workers. Not with the Flair's, the Foley's, the Austin's, or the Rock's...but easily with the HHH's, the Nash's, and the Rhodes'.

Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted November 10, 2003 The writers and perhaps Randy himself have failed to really grasp why a fan or an average joe would hate Randy enough to buy a ticket to see him get his ass kicked. Why would anyone buy a ticket just to see young Randy beat up a bunch of older stars? I think they should focus more towards him being primarily a pretty boy, egotistical, and filthy rich bastard and ditch all this Evolution garbage. Randy would be the perfect candidate for a valet. I don't know why they waste the viewer's time with Stacey shacking up with (let's face it) a loser like Test or the Dudley Boys, who don't even need a valet. She should be the hot chick who pretty boy Randy shoves in our faces to piss us off as wrestling fans. Foley is so good at looking like he's getting beat up that it would kind of bother me a little bit, so that helps in making him looks like an asshole, but it shouldn't be his entire gimmick. That should just be a minor element of his character. If they get the right mentality about promoting Randy Orton, he could be a huge star. They just need to focus on his strengths. Sean O Haire might not be good in the ring but either is Orton. At least SOH has a completely different look and has a little charisma... He also had a slam dunk gimmick that he failed to peform well. I'm confused with the SOH thing, as I've heard two sides to it One (like AS is saying) was that he had no business being given the free-thinking radical gimmick because, while he could carry off the taped promos, he couldn't carry the thing on a live scale. The other (which is more what I believe) was that he could have worked it well, but never had the chance to run with said gimmick because they inexplicably hooked him with Piper and cut off that gimmick at the knees, shoulders and neck. Guest Korgath Report post Posted November 10, 2003 They just need to focus on his strengths. They would have, had Paul Heyman been anything more than an onscreen character.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 10, 2003 It looks like its time to remind everyone that Randy is not getting this huge OMG push that everyone seems to think he's getting. The guy has been feuding with Jindrak, Cade and Maven for a month now in tag team matches and has been made the fool a couple of times in backstage segments by losing the bounty money. The whole legend killer thing seems to have disapeared right after the match with Micheals who was the only upper carder to actually do a job to Randy. And Randy spent the whole build up taking down Tommy Dreamer and Spike Dudley... which is perfectly acceptable to me.
Guest Max Peter David Report post Posted November 10, 2003 Yes, he's getting shoved down our throats, but he doesn't "suck". People throw that word around too lightly. He's not great, but he can work a decent match, and is able to be carried.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 10, 2003 He's getting shoved down our throats though only since Ross pimps the hell out of him and because he's in a stable. Other than that, Orton isn't getting a push beyond that of a Scott Steiner or a Christian. The fact of the matter is that WWE would be better served if they treated those guys more like Orton than vice-versa.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted November 10, 2003 Cena is great on the mike ,he is entertaining to watch in a wrestling match and he gets pops which is why he earned his push. Now, now. Let's not lie.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 10, 2003 Cena's weird... Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 I kinda feel sorry to Orton though. He gets his big push along with the "Legend Killer" label and after a big build-up, Michaels doesn't even put him over properly. That was kind of well...retarded.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 Didn't Flair say in an interview back during WCW that his favorite person at the time to go one on one on the mic was Mike Sanders, or something like that? Yeah, I think I remember hearing that at some point as well. Molly Holly also once stated that when she was still in WCW development that Sanders was one of her favorite guys to train with. I have an issue of Inside Wrestling that featured an interview debate between Mike Sanders and Ric Flair because they were FEUDING WITH EACH OTHER! And Randy Orton isn't all that bad. His push is premature, but he's improving. And Smackdown is so depressing these days. It hurts to be a wrestling fan.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 10, 2003 SOH's gimmick was basically cut off at the knees before he really had a chance to do anything with it. He got stuck with Piper, beat Hogan and then disappeared from tv. While I think he probably wouldn't have been able to handle the gimmick live, they should've at least let him have the ball for a brief second.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 (edited) Yup, SD is the McMahons' and Taker's show, and even when WWE is committed to getting some one over, their lousy uncreative team will fail. No real news here. What, no news about the huge groans heard when the SD guys heard that Jones was going to be coming back? You know who Randy Orton reminds me of? Mike Sanders. Why did that guy get high marks from the internet community, yet Orton can't seem to catch a break? Sanders was a good mic worker, had a cool finisher, and didn't horribly suck in the ring. That put him above 95%+ of WCW 2000's roster as far as deserving a push. It wasn't like Orton earned his push. He was doing alright with RNN, then before you know it he's one of the Evolved Horses, sucking up to HHH and having Flair bow to him. That doesn't sit too well with many smarks. Unlike now in Orton's case, there weren't a ton of more deserving guys back in WCW in 2000. Edited November 10, 2003 by AndrewTS

That one was for AndrewTS Heheheh--I still think they'll give that gimmick to Orlando Jordan. I mean, WCW's had some silly gimmicks, but expecting us to buy a white guy as a basketball player these days is a real stretch. What college did he go to, by the way? WCW Special Forces U? One (like AS is saying) was that he had no business being given the free-thinking radical gimmick because, while he could carry off the taped promos, he couldn't carry the thing on a live scale.
