Firestarter Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 CNN story Okay, I hate Wal-Mart as much as anyone, but what the fuck? "Discrimination" against ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS is illegal? So what, are we going to start arresting UCIS officers who deport ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS because they're discriminating in favour of law-abiding immigrants and law-abiding citizens?
Guest BDC Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 If you've got a distinction that has the word "illegal" in it, I think you've got something to take care of before you file lawsuits.
The Metal Maniac Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Reading the article, it seems that Wal-Mart is claiming that they didn't know the workers were illegal immigrants. Assuming, just for a second, that this is true, and that they did pay them less wages and such, they should be punished for that, methinks. Now, I'm not saying that they should be paying back wages to illegal immigrants, but perhaps someone should take a look into how these stores are run - if they're willing to fuck those people over, then they could easily be doing it to others. On the flip side though, there's the possibility that they DID know. That's gotta be illegal. Either way, Wal-Mart's kinda boned.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I've given up on the whole "Wait a minute, these people are ILLEGAL" argument because common sense was thrown out of these issues YEARS ago. Just make Mexico the 51st state or something...
Kahran Ramsus Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Common sense seems to be missing in a lot of places these days kkk.
Spicy McHaggis Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Wal-Mart should counter-sue for fraud.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Funny thing is if Wal-Mart didn't hire these folks, it would probably get sued for discrimination because they were Mexicans...
Lightning Flik Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Wal-Mart should counter-sue for fraud. Which would have a Public Relations nightmare as most common people would see it as "Wal-Mart: The Non-Supporter of The Little Guy". Or something similar.
