BigPoppaKev 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2003 What does everyone think of the new design? I don't know if I like it because it seems like they are cramming a lot of stuff into not a real lot of space. I liked the old design where they had everything separated. It isn't awful or anything I just like the old one better.
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2003 Eh, the site's not that good as a whole. They've never been able to maintain it that well..it's only good for Edge's commentary and Byte This.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2003 HOLY SHIT. It's looking more like WCW.COM before that promotion went tits up. Go figure. I personally liked the design they had going the day WM 20 tickets went on sale. One big frontpage image with secondary stories in text right next to it. iamsherm 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2003 And for some reason they're not using the whole width of the page. I'm guessing the page was designed for computers using the 640x480 resolution. Mine is running on 800x600 and there's a little empty space off to the right - not that big of a deal to me. My only complaint is with the ads you have to bypass every so often before you get to the content. That's annoying as hell. I did like the ad up in the right hand corner for RAW and Smackdown. You can choose which one you want to look at ... which gave me an idea. On NCAA College Football 2004 (and probably other EA games) you can choose your favorite team so that the background is of your team's logo while their fight song is played. I think, along these same lines, it would be a nice touch if the WWE could set up the site so you can choose a front page customized for the RAW or Smackdown brand that appears every time you go to the site. Just a thought. Anyways, the design looks fresh to me, which is more than I can say for their television programs these days.
Ultra Violence 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2003 I don't mind the design, its CSS and I love CSS. I had a look at it using my site leaching tool its not very clean coded, they could have made it better by outsourcing some stuff and including it using php. Anyway I think if the WWE did get forums we should all invade and put our opinions across but have mark usernames. If several smark communtiies got in there, Vince would think we were normal marks and be influenced.

The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2003 So, they are covering their asses about having mistakes on their pages by making a contest out of it. Me: Hey, there's a mistake on your page. WWE.com: (confused for a second) .... That mistake is there... BECAUSE WE PUT IT THERE TO SEE IF YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION. YEAH. It's lazy and clever all at once. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2003 No, it's smart because a person - who usually doesn't buy WWE merch - may be tempted to buy from Shopzone since they get a 10% discount. It also makes readers pay more attention. It's pretty clever.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2003 F*ck the old WWE.com! F*ck the old WWE.com By Dixon Sullivan Let’s cut to the chase – I know the title is a bit edgy, but if Stone Cold Steve Austin can walk around RAW every week with a F*ck Fear T-shirt, I think I should be able to sit in front of my keyboard and type F*ck the old WWE.com if I want to. OK, OK, so Stone Cold is a WWE legend. I guess you’re going to say that gives him the right to wear such a lewd shirt, right? Well, I’m a computer dork. That gives me the right to type whatever I want on my keyboard; unless, of course, a high-ranking WWE official calls me and tells me to change the title of the article. In that case, I’m just a dork. Anyway, I don’t want to waste your time rambling on about a four letter word that I don’t even have the balls to spell out the way it is intended to be. I’d rather waste your time talking about the new WWE.com. By now (I hope), you have noticed that the WWE.com you are used to visiting has been replaced with this new, sleek, colorful WWE.com. The preceding three adjectives sums up the new WWE.com pretty good, I think. It is new. It is sleek, and it is colorful. Other than that not much has changed, so don’t be confused. The WWE.com designers set out to give the fans all the information they could possibly need on one page, which is now the homepage of the Web site. So basically, the only thing you have to do to find out everything that is going on in WWE is type in WWE.com. That was not always the case with the old WWE.com. The old WWE.com’s homepage had one big image (which usually promoted upcoming television), with two, sometimes three, other news items. After about three years of that homepage, a light finally turned on in somebody’s head and we decided to kill that page altogether. All that information and other news was always on the News/Headlines page anyway. What was the point of the extra page? It sure wasn’t user friendly. We then decided that if the News/Headlines page was to act as the homepage of WWE.com, it needed a major facelift. That page was more boring and confusing than an Ultimate Warrior promo. So what the WWE.com designers did was combine the big image of the old WWE.com homepage with the news items on the old News/Headlines page. They then added a bunch of new colors and crap, and viola – a new WWE.com. Wasn’t that easy? You guys still with me? Let me summarize – change is good, colors are fun, WWE.com designers saved you guys an extra click. I know it sounds easy, but there’s actually more. Mixing, matching and changing around what was already on WWE.com wasn’t the only thing that was done. A new section entitled BackDoor was created. Some of the content in BackDoor may look familiar to you. Many of the WWE Superstars’ commentaries have been carried over from the old site to this section. So you will still get your weekly fix of Edge, Droz, Bradshaw, Dr. Tom and all of your other WWE favorites. But there’s more – many times, WWE’s most endearing characteristic is its light-heartedness. While nothing beats its athleticism and high level of competition, when WWE sets out to have some fun, fun is what it has. That’s what the plan for BackDoor is. It’s your one-stop place for all the light-harded fun of WWE. Today alone, BackDoor asks you to find all the WWE.com mistakes, talks to Kevin Nash and Kurt Angle about J’Lo and Ben, and last, but certainly not least, gives you this page-turning article by yours truly. What’s more fun and light-hearted than that? Again, allow me to summarize – BackDoor is good. You should use the BackDoor if you want to have fun. It’s your BackDoor to WWE. Get it? Oh, you were thinking something raunchy. Get your mind out of the gutter. It doesn’t mean that. While we’re on the subject of BackDoor, you should have seen the commotion its name caused. I don’t think a single person employed by WWE.com (other than me) actually likes the name, but it’s better than the other names that were up for consideration. Names for this section which ended up on the cutting room floor include: The Box, The Vine, The Voice and Under the Mat. By the way, the day Under the Mat gets any time on WWE.com is the day I quit (somewhere on the first floor of Titan Tower, dozens of WWE employees are trying to get Under the Mat on WWE.com). I hate seeing those corny “wrestling” headlines. I can’t tell you how many times I read WWE Slams Into New York or WWE Has Headlock on Cable Ratings in the local newspapers. These people majored in journalism. Can’t they come up with anything better? There I go rambling again. I’ll shut up. I didn’t set out to talk about poor wrestling headlines. I wanted to talk to you about the new WWE.com. Now that I told you all I know about the Web site, tell me what you think. Drop me an e-mail. I don’t think a single person employed by WWE.com (other than me) actually likes the name Considering how that can be used, it doesn't suprise me. Let me show you in some example sentences: "If you think this is great, get a load of the backdoor!" "Stephanie told HHH that he was missing out on all the fun if he didn't try the backdoor." "Bradshaw plugged his longest column yet into the backdoor." I mean, come on! They practically admit themselves that it sounds homoerotic, but still use it.
