Rolling Stone magazine's newest list

Recommended Posts

My favourtie Stones songs:

"Tumbling Dice"

"Play with Fire"

"Hangfire"

"Can't You Hear Me Knocking"

"19th Nervous Breakdown"

There's reeally too many great Stones songs to narrow my list down to 5 though, but I tried.

I don't like Exile On Main St. I personally think that you can choose any of their 60s albums and find it much better than that. That was the album where they began losing their quality. While some tracks were as good as ever, others began leading us towards the trashiness that was 70s Stones.

17. Nevermind, Nirvana

-Fuck Kurt Cobain in his dead overrated ass. I really liked the album, but since this asshole killed himself it's given way more credit then it deserves.

you are the man bro, at least someone had the balls to say this.

Yes it will, Choken. When we go all Farenhiet 451 on music, only "Heartbeat" will survive. Perhaps The Waitress' classic "I Know What Boys Want" as well.

*pop for a Waitresses mention*

even in a sarcastic tone

"I Know What Boys Like" may be the single worst song ever recorded. That's just my opinion though.

207. Ten, Pearl Jam

How in the hell can this be 207?

and this be 193?

193. Dookie, Green Day

Pearl Jam should be in the top 25 with out a doubt.

Umm.. Layne is dead now too.. so we need to add some AiC to the list. They should be on it anyway since they are one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

i dont care if you dont like AiC.. you still cant tell me that they dont deserve a spot on the top 500 albums all time. There are plenty of bands i dont like on here. but i agree they deserve to be on there.

i'd just like some kind of argument as to a) why they're one of the greatest bands of all time, and b) which of their albums deserve a spot on the list and why. when all you do is make a random claim without backing it up, i can't really argue with you because you haven't given me anything to argue with; all i can do is disagree (which i did).

They are one of the greatest band because they were one of the 4 main bands that were a turning point in what modern rock is. ( I am still more of a classic rock person and think most modern rock bands suck.) But AiC is one of the most talented bands from the 90's. There style is unique and they have influenced a lot of newer bands. As for what album.. it would be a toss up between Dirt and there Unplugged album. I just think they should be somewhere in the top 500. I'm not saying they need to be #1. But atleast somewhere between 350-400

Does DMB really have a cornerstone album? Most of the 90's/00's stuff that's in here is either hip-hop, experimental rock, or some sort of album pretty widely-regarded as great, superb, the sort of thing Allmusic would nonchalantly drop 5 stars on.

And another thing, c'mon, only two albums from the 90's or later even made it into the top 100. Pearl Jam in the top 25 doesn't really work for me.

Layne's voice is one of the best ever that came out of the nineties and probably one of the most unique voices ever. There would be no other Layne Staley. His deep eerie vocals, blends into the depressing song, such as Down In A Hole, Rotten Apples, Nutshell, Rain When I Die, Rooster, No Excuses, and Wake Up by Mad Season. (with Mike McCreedy on guitars and people from Screaming Trees I think). His depressing vocals blend well the music backed by Layne, as Jerry Cantrell bust out some nasty licks, some great solo's, and some unique riffs.

Mike Starr and Mike Inez where the back-bone of what Alice In Chains were, with bass riffs so unique, like Rooster, Rain When I Die, Would, Rotten Apples, etc...are stand out, while Cantrell played his unique riffs.

Sean Casey a very crafty drummer that is often over looked

Alice In Chains in total, never released a bad album. Yet Dirt proved to be one of the most successful albums in the 90's era, it shouldn't go unnoticed. It should be recongnized as one of the top albums of all time, maybe not as high as #1 but it should be in the somewhere in the middle 200 IMO
