snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I take issue with the Smashing Pumpkins not in the top 250...ranked behind Pavement is crackheaded.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I'm going with GTD and saying I do not like Tumbling Dice, but I think Exile is the second best album next to Sticky Fingers
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 My favourtie Stones songs: "Tumbling Dice" "Play with Fire" "Hangfire" "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" "19th Nervous Breakdown" There's reeally too many great Stones songs to narrow my list down to 5 though, but I tried. Mole 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Grateful Dead needed to be in the top 100 with American Beauty.
spiny norman 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I don't like Exile On Main St. I personally think that you can choose any of their 60s albums and find it much better than that. That was the album where they began losing their quality. While some tracks were as good as ever, others began leading us towards the trashiness that was 70s Stones. MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I can't believe "Eliminator" is at 396.
godthedog 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 yeah, i don't like "tumbling dice." but take that with a grain of salt, i also can't stand "you can't always get what you want" and my favorite stones song ever is "turd on the run." why not... turd on the run sister morphine jumping jack flash country honk bitch
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 "Turd on the Run" gets nods as the best song title ever. That, and it's just a great song.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 If I had to go with my top five songs by the stones it'll be like this Sympathy For The Devil Paint It Black Angie Honky Tonk Man You Can't Always Get What You Want
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted November 26, 2003 17. Nevermind, Nirvana -Fuck Kurt Cobain in his dead overrated ass. I really liked the album, but since this asshole killed himself it's given way more credit then it deserves. you are the man bro, at least someone had the balls to say this. godthedog 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 right, cause no one in the history of this message board has ever said that before.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 i've mentioned it tons of times, and I didn't really needed to repeat itself over and over again.
Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Yes it will, Choken. When we go all Farenhiet 451 on music, only "Heartbeat" will survive. Perhaps The Waitress' classic "I Know What Boys Want" as well. *pop for a Waitresses mention* even in a sarcastic tone
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 I can't believe "Eliminator" is at 396. I wouldn't even consider Eliminator to be one of ZZ Top's top three albums, most successful album-yes. Best? Not by a long shot.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 Yes it will, Choken. When we go all Farenhiet 451 on music, only "Heartbeat" will survive. Perhaps The Waitress' classic "I Know What Boys Want" as well. *pop for a Waitresses mention* even in a sarcastic tone "I Know What Boys Like" may be the single worst song ever recorded. That's just my opinion though.

Guest "Fruity" Frankie Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Umm.. Layne is dead now too.. so we need to add some AiC to the list. They should be on it anyway since they are one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
godthedog 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 no they're not. and staley didn't die at the peak of his popularity.
Guest "Fruity" Frankie Report post Posted December 3, 2003 i dont care if you dont like AiC.. you still cant tell me that they dont deserve a spot on the top 500 albums all time. There are plenty of bands i dont like on here. but i agree they deserve to be on there.
godthedog 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 i'd just like some kind of argument as to a) why they're one of the greatest bands of all time, and b) which of their albums deserve a spot on the list and why. when all you do is make a random claim without backing it up, i can't really argue with you because you haven't given me anything to argue with; all i can do is disagree (which i did). Guest "Fruity" Frankie Report post Posted December 3, 2003 They are one of the greatest band because they were one of the 4 main bands that were a turning point in what modern rock is. ( I am still more of a classic rock person and think most modern rock bands suck.) But AiC is one of the most talented bands from the 90's. There style is unique and they have influenced a lot of newer bands. As for what album.. it would be a toss up between Dirt and there Unplugged album. I just think they should be somewhere in the top 500. I'm not saying they need to be #1. But atleast somewhere between 350-
Spicy McHaggis 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Where in the hell is DMB?! I don't care much about rankings, just who they actually include.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Does DMB really have a cornerstone album? Most of the 90's/00's stuff that's in here is either hip-hop, experimental rock, or some sort of album pretty widely-regarded as great, superb, the sort of thing Allmusic would nonchalantly drop 5 stars on. And another thing, c'mon, only two albums from the 90's or later even made it into the top 100. Pearl Jam in the top 25 doesn't really work for me.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Layne's voice is one of the best ever that came out of the nineties and probably one of the most unique voices ever. There would be no other Layne Staley. His deep eerie vocals, blends into the depressing song, such as Down In A Hole, Rotten Apples, Nutshell, Rain When I Die, Rooster, No Excuses, and Wake Up by Mad Season. (with Mike McCreedy on guitars and people from Screaming Trees I think). His depressing vocals blend well the music backed by Layne, as Jerry Cantrell bust out some nasty licks, some great solo's, and some unique riffs. Mike Starr and Mike Inez where the back-bone of what Alice In Chains were, with bass riffs so unique, like Rooster, Rain When I Die, Would, Rotten Apples, etc...are stand out, while Cantrell played his unique riffs. Sean Casey a very crafty drummer that is often over looked Alice In Chains in total, never released a bad album. Yet Dirt proved to be one of the most successful albums in the 90's era, it shouldn't go unnoticed. It should be recongnized as one of the top albums of all time, maybe not as high as #1 but it should be in the somewhere in the middle 200 IMO
