haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Interestingly enough, Chris Benoit has been taken out of the main event slot at the Smackdown house shows this weekend. He was originally slated to face Brock Lesnar. Lesnar will now face John Cena while Benoit will take Cena's spot teaming with Bradshaw and Hardcore Holly against Big Show, Nathan Jones, and Matt Morgan. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Wow, quite a drop in talent there for Benoit. Going from Brock to Show/Holly/Bradshaw/Jones/Morgan. Oof.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 This is strange seeing as they planted the seeds for a Benoit/Lesner feud on Smackdown...
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Cena's hotter right now and ... well... its just a house show.
Insane Bump Machine 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 He probably has a minor injury and they put him into the multi man tag match so that he doesn't have to work as much. What?
Guest NCJ Report post Posted November 21, 2003 They are going to do Cena vs. Brock again eventually. They are probably just trying to give those two a chance to get to understand how they work in the ring together better, because when it happens no one wants a repeat of the last time they wrestled. P.S. Where is the house show that this is going to take place at. That may be another reason why Cena is in the main event.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Hey, at least they're pushing younger talent. Everyone loves Benoit and all, but he is an older guy; it's never a bad thing to give a young guy a little more main event exposure.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 The planted the seeds for both Cena and Benoit vs. Lesnar - however it was Cena whom they spent more time on building on Smackdown.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted November 21, 2003 The planted the seeds for both Cena and Benoit vs. Lesnar - however it was Cena whom they spent more time on building on Smackdown. Eh, they straight up fed Nathan Jones to Benoit so it's not like they just FORGOT about him.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Cena vs Lesnar put the crowd asleep last time. Perhaps Cena vs Lesnar vs Benoit?
haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 I could deal with Lesnar Vs Benoit Vs Cena. But, I want Lesnar Vs Benoit matches to lead up to the 3 way.
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 I think they're obviously going with Benoit v. Brock, even if its not at the Rumble, because he did make the guy tap. Cena's their pet project, he'll get his main event run in due time. Sad to say but Benoit's probably just another feud for Brock.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Cena shouldn't be put into another title match until they are ready to put the title on him. I honestly feel that no one on either roster has more potential to be the next breakout star than Cena...so the last thing he needs is another loss in a boring match to Brock.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 I agree with you bps, but I don't think Brock and Cena would have a boring match like last time. They were both green'er at the time. Cena was said to of had the flu and their both much more over now. Brock is much better as heel and Cena is getting scary over at the moment.

Guest Dids Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Everything from the title of this thread (Cena didn't steal it- it was given to him) on down is really stupid. It's a house show- get over it.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 "Eh, they straight up fed Nathan Jones to Benoit so it's not like they just FORGOT about him." Ok, let's go back and read what I posted... *waits* *waits* *waits* *checks watch* *waits* Ok, get it? Keyword there, "more". I didn't say they ignored Benoit, they just didn't plaster him up on WWE dot com and sucked him off like they did with Cena. Benoit "beat" Nathan Jones - whoopidyfuckindo. Cena "came back from behind against all odds to slay the nasty giant". Of course, first they'll have Cena vs. McMahon and devote 90% of Smackdown to it. Ooooh, smell the charisma. Meltzer will probably call it the feud of the year. What I find funny is that Eddie was WAAAAAAAY more over in the Summer than Cena is now and it took them like 3 months to realize it. Guest M. Harry Smilac Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Anything's better then Cena Vs. Big Show. That smackdown match was just torture. It's still way to early for Cena to be going for the heaveyweight strap. They should have benoit take the us title off big show and then feud with cena and trade it back and forth. Lesnar can feud with hardcore holly in the meantime and keep the belt warm. I didn't say they ignored Benoit, they just didn't plaster him up on WWE dot com and sucked him off like they did with Cena. Benoit "beat" Nathan Jones - whoopidyfuckindo. Cena "came back from behind against all odds to slay the nasty giant". My own thoughts: Well, isn't this just something to cry over. Reply to RRR: Show's a bit more of a victory than Jones would be. Show's been kept close to the main event for quite a while (and therefore, is seen as one) while Jones is somebody who hasn't been on TV more than a handful of times, and is basically nothing. Guest Ray Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Remember that Armageddon is a Raw PPV, so Benoit vs. Lesnar will probably be at the Royal Rumble. Lesnar vs. Holly fills the gap until then.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2003 Is anyone surprised by this? Cena has pretty much already leapfrogged over Eddie Guerrero at this point. Jumping ahead of Benoit is the next logical step. I don't mind Cena, I actually kind of dig him, but if they're planning Cena / Lesnar II already, they're shooting their wad too early (which wouldn't be surprising). I'm still of the opinion that they should feud Cena with Big Show (or, as someone theorized here, with McMahon), maybe have him win the U.S. title, and by then, he may be ready for another shot at the main event. Till then, go with Lesnar / Benoit.
