Guest Fook Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 you can't have a list like that without Marvin Gaye's "Let's get it on"
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 you can't have a list like that without Marvin Gaye's "Let's get it on" That's not so much a love song as it is a fuck song.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 you can't have a list like that without Marvin Gaye's "Let's get it on" That's not so much a love song as it is a fuck song. My top ones are probably Lamb's "Gorecki" and Elliott Smith's "Say Yes," both of which are a little more forlorn than you might want out of a love song, but pretty great nonetheless. Oh, and Sam Cooke's version of "Bring It On Home To Me," which is astonishingly gorgeous.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I'm going to have to go with Wilco's "Reservations" as my top choice as I have been carrying around a raunchy hard-on for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot lately.

TheFranchise Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 No shout out for Leann Rimes - How Do I Live?
pochorenella Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Some have already been mentioned, but they're my favorites anyway: Every Breath You Take - The Police (greatest song ever) Open Arms - Journey Faithfully - Journey Dust in the Wind - Kansas I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner Waiting For A Girl Like You - Foreigner Keep On Loving You - REO Speewagon Careless Whisper - George Michael (the guy rules) More Than Words - Extreme Love Song - Tesla
WrestlingDeacon Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 No shout out for Leann Rimes - How Do I Live? The Trisha Yearwood version is much better. For one, Rimes was like 16 at the time and didn't really understand the emotion of the song the way an older woman would. That's the reason the producers of "Con Air" cut Rimes and hired Yearwood to do it.
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 GWAR - "I Hate Love Songs", which is not a joke answer. Same for me. I've been singing the following line for the past 2 weeks: I like puppies... ...WHEN THEY'RE ROADKILL I hate everything cute and cuddly Like you
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Lady in red by Chris DeBurgh Keep on Loving You by REO Speedwagon
Zack Malibu Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Two words: Careless Whisper. The gratuitous saxaphone solo gets me EVERY TIME. "I'm never gonna dance again...guilty feet have GOT no rhythm..." Dames Dude, I've actually got a FREESTYLE~! remake of that song. Pretty killer, if I do say so myself.
Guest Mr. Brook River Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 A lot of the songs listed, I have to agree with, but there are a few songs I think are definately necessary. John Mayer - Comfortable St. Patrick's Day Something Corporate - Konstantine I'm not huge into the love songs, but I really think those portray a very simple love, which is the best kind. Surprisingly enough, mainstream seemed to poke through.
Guest Mr. Brook River Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Oh! And how could I forgot! "Your Song" by Elton John. Wow...I should maim myself for forgetting that song.
CanadianChris Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Some have already been mentioned, but they're my favorites anyway: Every Breath You Take - The Police (greatest song ever) Um, that's not a love song, dude. That's a song about a stalker.
The Dames Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Two words: Careless Whisper. The gratuitous saxaphone solo gets me EVERY TIME. "I'm never gonna dance again...guilty feet have GOT no rhythm..." Dames Dude, I've actually got a FREESTYLE~! remake of that song. Pretty killer, if I do say so myself. You MUST send me the mp3 of that song! I'll instruct you, if needed! Dames
