Bush Secretly Visits To Iraq

Recommended Posts

Guest Cerebus

I'm not his biggest fan (though I don't have that horrible loathing that many seem to) but this impressed me. Looks like he's finally taking a page out of Machiavelli's handbook.

Jobber, the up-and-ups had to have known about it, but I guess the lower ranks didn't. From what I have read the thing was practically supr-of-the-moment.

How in the hell would you keep a trip like that secret to the military? Knowing when the President is visiting a foreign land and defending him if necesary is part of their job.

No it isn't.

Brilliantly done, Mr President. I wouldn't have thought it possible. Now get yourself back stateside, pronto... sir.

Awesome moment. I must say, when he stepped out and the troops started cheering, I marked out a bit. Regardless of whether you dislike (or hate, as some here do) Bush & the war, this was a great thing to do for the troops.

I was shitting bricks, though, until I had heard he had already left and was going to return soon to the U.S.

That was damn cool as no one saw it coming. Awesome move by the president.

Oh come on now -- Bush is doing this so the masses will hop on the pro-war bandwagon again so Halliburton can make more money.

That HAS to be the reason, right?...

A big oil company supplied the fuel for Air Force One too fly to Iraq.

An evil pharmasutical (sp) company supplied medicine in case someone became ill.

He was back in the air before the news release was even sent about it.

He saw about 600 of the 130,000+ soldiers in Iraq. I wouldn't be shocked if at least 400 of them were trained in shooting very long distances just in case. :P ;)

Yeah, I know; I just don't like it when he's out of the country. I stayed awake until he landed at Andrews AFB.

You people worry too much, there's no one on the face of the earth more protected than the president. The trip was planned in secrecy probably for both security reasons and to give the troops a welcome surprise (I assume).

Bush's trip to Iraq was also a message to the terrorists, mainly that the leader of the free world will go where he pleases, and not at the pleasure of Al-Qaeda and their ilk.

This President flew 11hours to Iraq and 11 hours back. The plane landed with no lights, window blinds down, including the cock-pit shades. The pilots flew and landed the plane by instruments. They landed in a country that has downed American helicopters with rocket grenades. This was a statement to the troops, he is with them and President made a statement to the troops that we are with them. He had a meal with them and left. I find that awesome. Kind of put Hillary's trip to Afghanistan, on the back burner. Anyone hear anything about that? humm?

Ok back to the history channel to watch "The Reagan Legacy"

Iraqi citizen held a protest denouncing the terrorists attacks on their country. Relatives of people killed in these attacks where present. Let's hope the visit is not only moral booster for the troops, but the Iraqi people has well.

Anything that increases soldier morale is good. They need to have good morale right now (with the almost daily attacks and such). I see nothing wrong with this.

It'd be more impressive if he went without a camera crew.

And, granted, I've never been in the military, but why would the President showing up be such a big deal? Seriously, someone explain that to me. That's the guy who sent you over their to risk your ass; I wouldn't be his biggest fan.

The Commander in Chief taking a huge risk shows he still is supporting the War, and hasn't forgotten about them.

A large majority likes President Bush. They may not like being their, but most believce what they are doing is right.

I will admit, I was surprised to see the news of this, but I'm sort of glad he went over there. I always feel that whenever any leader of any country has their forces invade another, common courtesy says to show up and look around six months or so after major hostilities have ended.

And that seriously wasn't sarcastic, I was legitimately wondering when he'd finally go over there. When was the last time a US President was in Iraq, or is this the first time?

If Bush made this trip solely for the purpose of seeing the troops and because he felt it was the right thing to do i might feel different about it. But all he is trying to do it get people to vote him in again.. He realizes he is losing lots of people that used to be on his side. It is all a just a bunch of Political Bullshit. And if you dont vote you have no right commenting about anything that involves Bush.
