Guest Ray Report post Posted November 29, 2003 I've not decided on a MOTY yet. Still considering potential candidates (haven't seen some, like TWGTT vs Mysterio/Kidman). Eddie Guerrero is my current pick for WOTY. He's been the most consistant performer in WWE this year. (Benoit's spent lots of 03 doing jobber duty, Angle became a pointless suplex machine, Jericho hasn't done much, or rather, hasn't had the opportunity to do much). I'll get back to this later... Announcer of the Year : Tazz good picks! eddie guerrero definitely has had an outstanding year...wrestling that is...storywise, nothing special. i just wish the WWE would push him soon...he's really over with the crowd...2004 should be his year. same with benoit...03 hasn't been that great with him...i definitely enjoyed the times he was working with angle...when they teamed up, became enemies etc etc. things are just starting to get good for benoit now that he's being included into the main event story lines and what not. overall though, he's been put up against A LOT of crappy wrestlers this year (such as albert) although i did enjoy their final bout when benoit had him tap to the sharpshooter. MOTY in my opinion is benoit vs angle RR 03...it's the match i enjoyed the most. i picked up the RR03 DVD today actually just to have that match on DVD. i watched it a few hours ago...i love the standing O for benoit at the end. i hate RAW but if i had to pick the RAW wrestler of the year i'd pick jericho as well. i'm gonna give the rookie of the year to Charlie Haas...i just think he's an awesome wrestler with a lot of potential. he's getting better and better and i believe that he'll get really good down the line. shelton benjamin is also another one of my favorite newcommers but i like haas better because he uses a lot of different and innovative moves for each match where as benjamin uses a lot of the same moves. tag team of the year i'm obviously gonna go with WGTT. as for the rest, i'll have to think more about them. Guest Coffey Report post Posted November 29, 2003 (edited) Just for WWE? MVP of the year : The Big Show To me, 2003 will be remembered as the year that the Big Show's career got revitalized. His put on quite a few decent matches, and with the jump to Smackdown actually became a threat again. Hell, he even had another run with the belt! Now, as far as Most Valuable Player is concerned...well, I think that's a bad term to use in prowrestling. I think TBS improved the most and had the best year because of that. Match of the year : Chris Benoit Vs. Kurt Angle; Royal Rumble 2003 There wasn't a whole lot of competition this year. This match has only about two other matches that could even be mentioned in the same breath with it as far as MotY goes. Raw wrestler of the year : Molly Holly She always works her ass off. She can cut a good promo and makes a great bitch heel. She always stood out on the shows even when the rest of Raw was lackluster. Besides, she's held the women's title for quite awhile now. Smackdown wrestler of the year : Eddie Guerrero Wrestling talent on Smackdown is pretty great. Eddie Guerrero stood out because he was good on the mic, had decent matches and was getting a push. Rookie of the year : Rob Conway I like his look. I like how he talks. I like how he wrestles. He's a rookie. What more would it require to win this vote? Too bad he got stuck in such a dead end gimmick. I think he could really shine. Tag team of the year : "The Self Proclaimed World's Greatest Tag Team" Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas No competition. Los Guerreros...maybe. Feud of the year : Chris Jericho Vs. Shawn Michaels Not a whole lot of feuds stood out this year. Jericho is gold is almost all of his though. The Rumble, Mania and the Raw match make this feud win PPV of the year : WWE Wrestlemania XIX C'mon, it's Wrestlemania. Even if it turns out to not have great matches, it always has a special feel to it. Turns out this year had a couple great matches. Storyline of the year : Chris Jericho & Trish Stratus "fling" Even in it's early stages this storyline has grasp my attention more than anything else. Hopefully it will pay off in the end, unlike HHH/Steph/Angle. Announcer of the year : Tazz Tazz wins by default because the other three suck. Guest Vitamin EC Report post Posted November 29, 2003 MVP of the year : Brock Lesnar No one stands out for me but Lesnar get's it for just being a solid WWE champion/challenger for the whole year. Match of the year : Kurt Angle versus Chris Benoit (Royal Rumble) Again, nothing really stood out for me. This was probably Angle's best match this year though. Raw wrestler of the year : Chris Jericho Hasn't had a great year but the guy is consistence personified. Smackdown wrestler of the year : Kurt Angle Just for his matches with Benoit, Lesnar and Cena. Not a great year again but he deserves the nod. Rookie of the year : Charlie Haas Charlie and Shelton are pretty even but Haas has shown more in singles competition. Tag team of the year : Haas and Benjamin Best thing to happen to the tag ranks since the TLC days. Feud of the year : Hulk Hogan versus Mr. McMahon Up to the point of the Mr. America travesty, this was well booked, well acted up, had real history and what's more had a good pay-off at Wrestlemania. In other words, it meant something, something that is lacking in about 95% of the feuds they did this year. PPV of the year : Wrestlemania XIX Solid throughout with matches that had no right to be good but were. Storyline of the year : $100,000 bounty on Goldberg I'm not a big fan of the wrestlers involved in this and anything with Mark Henry would normally get an automatic thumbs down but this was a simple angle, that gave RAW some much needed direction in hard times. Announcer of the year : Michael Cole Yeah, I have the guts to vote for him. I don't believe I didn't vote for either Eddie or Cena... damn categories.
