1wrestling says Lesnar is gonna defend his title against Bob Holly. Are they seriously THAT fucked up? Bob Holly is like below the fucking midcard. He has always been nothing, and always will be nothing. How in the FUCK are we supposed to consider Bob as an actual threat? Because Lesnar broke his neck in a meaningless 4 minute squash at the beginning of a episode of Smackdown a year ago? If this happens, this will be the absolute rock bottom for the creative braintrust on Smackdown...or even the darned company. I'm not a Benoit sympathizer by any means but that ma'fucker deserves a shot before Sparky FUCKING Plugg.

Well, at least all those Bob Holly fans will be pleased. You know, the ones scrambling to buy the T-Shirts that aren't out, and making those chants that don't exist. Yeah, those Bob Holly fans.....at least they'll enjoy the Royal Rumble.

 

The problem with this is....I have never, ever met someone who, when I asked them who their favorite wrestler was, responded "Hardcore Holly." I don't even know if such a person exists. Yet, Holly will now be relied on to draw - and put on a GOOD, ENTERTAINING match - for the Heavyweight Title match at Royal Rumble, assuming this is all true. Hilarious!

 

But I'm sure someone will eventually come into this thread and defend this match someway, somehow. Always happens.

I said it before in another thread, but Holly/Lesnar would just be stupid. If they put on that match in Philly, it is going to result in a face turn for Brock. I don't see why they would put Brock in a position to get cheered.

I am getting the Rumble (I havent bought a PPV since SummerSlam), so I definately don't want to see Bob Holly in the main event spot. It would just be completely shit. Plus, they are actualy insinuating that Holly can succeed where so many others have failed, and THAT isn't right.

Neither Orton nor Batista will win. Even the WWE knows it's far too early to pull the trigger on either of them, especially considering they're still HHH's lackeys.

My tip for the RUmble is either Benoit or Jericho. Benoit's probably more likely, but considering HHH will have the title and Jericho is the only top face left on raw (and someone on RAW is more likely to win as Smackdown won last year) he's the obvious choice.

I think people are focusing on the wrong thing in what Paul Heyman said.

 

"As long as I am Smackdown GM, Chris Benoit will never get a title shot"

 

The key thing in this is not "Chris Benoit will never get a title shot", it's "As long as I am Smackdown GM". We all know Paul Heyman's role is basically on loan and when Steffie gets the itch for the pop she'll be back and "doing the right thing" by taking the spotlight, upstaging Benoit and giving him the title shot. This makes Brock and Paul angry, and after they beat Benoit (because the WWE can't do something good) they go after Steph... so then someone like Taker or Albert or Cena saves her and THEY win the belt... cause life just sucks.

There's actually a SmackDown taping in Alabama on January 6th that I won third row tickets to. Although I'd want to scream if they had the match there, there's a chance they'll do it in Holly's home state instead of on PPV.

We should really let the man wrestle a comeback match first before judging the muthafucka, shouldn't we?! So what if his character(s) have sucked in the past?! The key word is "past". For fuck's sake, how do you know that Holly will "be nothing". Many thought that Matt Hardy couldn't get over as a single's competitor, and were all proven wrong. Why? Because someone actually put thought into his character, gave him the ball, and he ran with it. With a veteran like Holly, he is capable of doing the same. It all starts with the CREATIVE team. If Holly doesn't get over, then he doesn't. It wouldn't be Holly's fault. It will be creative's fault. We know Holly has the capability as a wrestler. He was asked to be a trainer on Tough Enough for fuck's sake. If you think he can't wrestle due to the moves he has used in the past, we also all know that the wrestlers are limited to what moves they can do in the ring. I admit, Holly's "arsenal" hasn't been too impressive BEFORE, but I'm going to wait and see what he can do (or is able to do) now. So far, on the promo & intensity side, he has done a much better job getting this current character over than his previous ones, including the "Super heavyweight" gimmick. I've always felt that if his character was someone who just doesn't give a fuck (similar to Benoit's or Stone Cold's) he can pull it off and he could get over. Why? Cuz it's natural for him to be a prick! Yeah, he is one. So what! If he can play a character similar to his own personality, more power to him. By the way the crowd has popped for the guy in recent weeks, the muthafucka still has fans, may now have new fans, and they want to see him kick Lesnar's ass. I think the intensity his character has now is also a huge improvement than before. He knows he has a golden opportunity now. The creative team writing his character as someone who is truly "Hardcore" is about time.

 

I read the argument about "How are we supposed to believe a certain wrestler is supposed to be a threat" too often. Are we forgetting this is WWE? Sometimes shit doesn't make sense, and sometimes it shouldn't even matter. It's a tv show. It's not real life. But in this case, Holly's been doing a good job getting his new character over, and it sure looks like he's starting to make alot of fans believe he can be a threat. Most of these fans at these shows aren't smarks. They're casual fans. They're having fun believing in this angle. They are seeing a pissed off muthafucker who wants revenge on Lesnar (someone who they're supposed to hate) and they are enjoying his character. It's just the people who live in the past or expect a shitty show every week who can't allow themselves to enjoy the show [no matter how good it is] or "believe" anything anymore. When that happens, you should really do yourself a favor and not stress yourself out anymore by simply not watching anymore!

He was on Tough Enough to play a villain....not because of his wrestling skills.

A friend of mine was a HUGE fan of Hardcore Holly in 2000. His favorite wrestler although Kurt Angle replaced him about halfway through the year. But Holly was definitely his fave during "The Big Shot" angle.

 

Why? Appearantly because he worked himself up from one of the crappiest of WrestleCrap gimmicks or something. The Hardcore Holly persona never drew any money either, but I haven't seen this guy in years so I haven't been able to shove that knowledge in his face and see how he responds.
