Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 I was wondering who everyones favorite used to be? I mean a sports star you loved that is now retired. Someone that maybe caught your imagination when you were a kid. So please........share in your past heroes and what they did for you. The only one I can really think of is Joe Montana. I remember being a kid and watching one of the 49ers/Bengals Super Bowls and seeing Montana up there. I remember thinking that he was really good. I didn't watch football because I was so young.....but I knew who Joe Montana was and what he was capable of. Nowadays I go back and look at videos of the Montana/Rice team. I look at the player's birthdays listed to find mine, October 1st. I find a player on the A's that has that birthday and he would become my favorite player from that day on. I still get a minor adrenaline rush anytime I see him fight. I dunno what happened because at one point, he was just a fuckin beast and now he's just a headhunter essentially, but still, always captures my imagination even when he is biting ears off. Hockey......I liked Bobby Clarke,Wayne Stephenson,Mike Palmateer, Borje Salming,Dennis Polonich,Reed Larson. There's more I'm sure......but I'll stick to them for now. Watching some of his classic & vintage footage from the 60's gives me the chills and makes me wish I could get in a time machine and attend one of his fights. Joe Montana......nuff said I know he has only been retired for a year, but Darrell F'N Green. He is just about the LAST of his generation/era to go, and it is definately depressing. The man gave his heart and soul to the Washington Redskins and the city.
