Brock's pussy character

Recommended Posts

Guest unleashedfury

Brock has been turned heel long enough. So now we can discuss his character and what the future holds for him.Basically Brock's character right now is a sadistic big guy who is afraid of submissions (because he might tap out) and will do every thing he can to keep his title from more deserving people.

strengths

1-Brock is actually a heel, and gets heel heat unlike his previouse heel run.

2-Brock makes the faces look good as opposed to HHH who doesn't have any interesting feuds awaiting for him because he burried most of them.

3-Brock is becoming an effective promo in HHH vein (hopefully he will learn to move over to Arn Anderson vein).

4-heels being vulnerable is generally a good thing.

weaknesses

1-Brock isn't booked as a franchise player, which he needs to be.

2-Brock is not a credible champion anymore.

3-beating Brock doesn't matter anymore because everybody can beat brock.

4-Brock doesn't strike fear in his opponents anymore.

So, is this the right direction for the future of the company?any thoughts

I'm not a big fan of Brock's "pussy character." Brock should be a monster heel who can take down most babyfaces.

He also shouldn't have to cheat so much to gain wins.

The problem with being a "monster heel" and going over all the faces clean is that the fans will end up cheering him as they did the first time. Heels have to cheat to get heat.

He's still being booked fairly strongly though, beating Mysterio clean, unlike Jericho's title run where he needed to cheat to beat Maven of all people.

He doesn't necessarily have to cheat. He could just fight dirty in the ring. There is a difference. Brock should only break the rules when he's up against people on his level. He shouldn't need to break or even bend the rules to beat someone much lower than him.

Hmmm, I think that's a pretty hefty exaggeration. How many people have ever actually beaten Brock clean in a one on one match? Angle has, Benoit got a sort of moral victory...anyone else? He still beats down virtually everyone on the roster pretty convincingly, of course Brock has to make it look like some of the challengers are a credible threat to him (Holly for instance).

I think the point behind Brock's character is that he doesn't often NEED to cheat to beat his opponent, but he does anyway because he doesn't care about the sportmanship - he just wants to win and keep his title at all costs.

Personally, I think Lesnar is one of the few wrestlers who WWE consistently book well, and I'm digging his character right now. He's like the polar opposite of HHH - Goldberg is the ONLY real face who's a title contender on Raw right now (and god knows he should be with the way he's been booked), Brock on the other hand has in the last month alone made credible title contenders out of Benoit and to a lesser extent Holly and Rey. Go Brock!

I hate that when someone like him turns heel he'll tap out at the drop of a hat. Same with Austin and Rock. They can still book the charcter as a bad guy and a cheater...but this is ruining him for me.

First of all, get rid of this pussy character. Put him against upper-midcarders on SmackDown and have him beat them by submission so he can get his strengths as a badass back. Then have him drop the title to Benoit at No Way Out (or whatever the fuck it's gonna be called). This will then free Brock up for WrestleMania for a match with Angle, Goldberg, or whoever. Even a rematch with Benoit.

The reason I posted this thread is because I don't remember even HHH being booked like this in 2000.I remember HHH in 2000 being booked like a mean strong snappy heel and he drew LOADS of money despite being limited physically. On the other hand, No one EVER has the physical presence that Brock has right now and he's already as good as HHH is on the microphone, there is also a chance that he will far surpass him on the mic since he's relatively inexperienced. So Brock is absolutely perfect for THE BAD GUY of pro wrestling. But yet Brock is not protrayed as unbeatable monster anymore. He's just another chickenshit heel now.Besides, look how much of a disaster has the last heel run done for both the Rock and Austin.thankfully both of them recovered because they are the best ever when it comes to mic work and working the crowd.Brock isn't exactly the rock on the mic and I doubt if he ever becomes like him.

So they should take advantage of Brock's biggest asset (physical charisma) if they want him to be the money machine that he can be.

And no I don't think the fans will cheer him again because Brock has become smart on how to get the fans to hate him.

I suggest that Brock should watch some tapes of Harley Race in 70's to learn how to make the faces look good and STILL comes out as the man.

I also suggest that he should look for himself as far as booking like every single main eventer in WWE (Goldberg, Taker, HHH and Angle).I mean since those guys will always use politics to keep their spots. Then let brock join the group. There is not a shame in looking out for yourself as long as you justify it by quality work.

So that's why Angle does comedy-based feuds in the mid-card?

They tried booking him as a monster heel by having him utterly destroy Zach, Kendrick, and London. It just me with a bad taste in my mouth. I think that the utter arrogance is great, but then in the ring when someone looks to throw a submission on him have him UTTERLY PANIC. He has a big, expressive face whihc could be used well if he bugs out and chickens out. He csan draw the heat, but when he's ahead, he's the same old unbeatable Brock

The only problem is Brock's trepedation about submissions. Fix that by showing him train like a madman to try and figure out how to avoid it. He'll become more confident, in which he can become even more arrogant knowing that he can counter someone like Benoit or Angle when they're getting ready to apply their submission on him. It builds itself because then someone who is innovative can find a way to beat Brock, and it will mean something. Villains are supposed to be a bit more cunning and clever than the heroes (who are supposed to be more determined and headstrong). This is one reason why a Benoit/Brock feud would work perfectly. Let's say they go with it, and Brock eventually taps to Benoit to give Benoit his much deserved, and true, World Title victory. Benoit has his veteran run with the belt, but in the meantime Brock becomes knowledgable about submissions, and learns how to counter the Crossface into his main submission (Brock-Lock?). In the eventual rematch, Brock wins the WWE World Title back clean, upstaging Benoit by using technical expertise (the likes that Benoit used when he was younger). Then Brock will most definitely be seen as THE guy to beat, whoever the opponent is (and a far better champ than HHH).

Kurt hasn't been doing that...or much of anything else lately. He's injured, remember?

I think the only person who has beat Brock that shouldn't have is the Undertaker.

Yeah, I would have to agree. But if you pair him up with Vince, people would hate him. Plus it might be refreshing to see Vince on the program for a REASON.

Must HHH be brought into EVERY conversation? Geez. This is about BROCK LESNAR people.

Yes.

Anywhoo, Brock is being booked fine. If you go with the monster heel who kills his opponents than you have the first time Brock was heel, and the fans obviously didn't like to see that because they barely gave him any reaction. Why? Because why would you boo a guy who is just a stronger wrestler? The reason they boo him now is because he's doing everything he can to keep the belt, which includes cheating (Draws heat btw) while still showing some of his strength. He's also doing a damn good job of making his opponents look good and that's all you can ask for from the Champ.

Right now Brock is rumered to face Goldberg at WM20.Do you think the casual fans will take Brock as an equal to Goldberg if they keep booking him like this : a total pussy who cheats his way against everyone. Right now the plan is for Brock to defend the title at the rumble against nonother than BOB HOLLY

This just shows you the lack of depth and how fucked up is the roster split that Brock would have to feud with Holly of all people. What they should do with Brock is the following :

1-Since nobody will care about Holly in a month, they should let Brock squash him 2-0 in a best of 3 falls by F5 and the Brock Lock.

2-To ensure that Brock doesn't get cheered, he should follow the legend Harley Race footsteps and use all those heel tactics while winning cleanly. This is how you can book a killer heel while keeping the face credible.Somehow Brock used Harley Race style for the first time ever in his match against Benoit and it worked.

3-They Should portray Brock in backstage vignetts as a madman who is unpredictable and will do all crazy kinds of things( just like when he pushed Gowen through the steps).

I just don't understand why don't they let Brock be the #1 heel of wrestling. His facial expressions and mannerisms are great, his physical talent, his RAGE when he's out of control. All those are unique contributions.I believe He is on his way to be one of the best working big men of all time.

But he will never be one of the greatest heels of all time (which he can be) if they don't book him better than this.
