Guest champchavez Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Here's my pick: Wrestlepalooza 97: Dreamer over Raven in a Loser Leaves Town Match/Lights out: Lawler debuts/Sabu-RVD-Lawler destroy the lockerroom/Taz clears the ring/Sabu over Taz/Taz over Douglas for the TV Title. This entire hour or so is one of my all time fav running angles. Heyman was a genius when he applied himself. Unfortunate that the WWF vs. ECW feud didn't light up the world. WWF could have had a great mid card feud with this had they allowed some of the mid-carders to particpate, but then Vince isn't always so strong with those invasion angles. But apparently he's a genius.
JustJoe2k5 Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 There was a Raw during this whole angle where half the matches were ECW. Little Guido vs. Stevie Richards was one and I think D-Von Dudley vs. Taz was another.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I was always a fan of the Tazz / Douglas feud. Shane doing everything in his power to make sure Tazz never got a shot at the belt, and finally Tazz overcame all odds and won the title.
JN News Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I think Taz's World Title rematch with The Franchise at ECW House Party '99 was the greatest title match in ECW history.
Youth N Asia Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 The Beullah pregnancy angle...although it went nowhere. these next two are bias cause I'm a Mikey mark Catus Jack and Mikey Whipwreck's feud with the Public Enemy...hell, all of the Cactus/Mikey stuff from the tag belts till Cactus vs Mikey before Foley went to the WWF. Mikey's upset world title win over the Sandman. While I liked Taz vs Douglas, I was so burned out on Shane by then, he had the damn belt for 14 months or so by then, I just stopped caring about his matches. Although I did like the build up for Douglas and Al Snow. I also liked the Dudleys vs Eliminators in 97.
Masked Man of Mystery Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 This is actually the only ECW DVD I own. I just picked it up randomly, and I love it. Can anyone tell me why Douglas was up in the crowd with Francine rather than in the back?
Youth N Asia Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 If you're talking about Wrestlepalooza 97, he had his match with Chetti and was just taking a break enjoying the show. That was the first tape I bought at an ECW show
Papacita Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Save for hotshotting Taz into the ME spot, I loved how they built to Guilty as Charged 99 with that "You do the heist, I'll pay the price" angle. Taz trying to take out Sabu to ruin the PPV main event was great. I liked most of the Taz/Triple Threat stuff in 98/99. Shane Douglas shaking Gary Wolfe by his surgical halo during the whole feud with the Pittbulls. Raven stealing Sandman's son. bWo I was barely watching at the time, but I remember the Sandman's blinding in 94 getting a lot of praise.
Michrome Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 The best ever was the 2/3 falls double dog collar match that was essentially a bloody angle, that ended with the Pitbulls winning the belts and 911 chokeslamming fonz.
Sonic Reducer Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I was always a fan of just about any angle involving Raven ... ie, the Sandman and Dreamer angles.
geniusMoment Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 The going out of business angle. They have really went all the way with it. Many of their stars are even appearing on the competitions shows. I cannot wait to see how it concludes, does anyone who subscribes to the torch or observer have any insider info?
Guest Mosaicv2 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I was barely watching at the time, but I remember the Sandman's blinding in 94 getting a lot of praise. i think tat was one of ECW first best & most intense angle ever
Youth N Asia Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 ANd what made it better is that the fans completly bought it
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 The build up: Axl and Ian Rotten lose a match to ??? and as a result can never team again. So they fued in bloody barbaric bouts for months... Then one night at ECW Arena Public Enemy challenges Axl and a "Mystery Partner" Ian comes out.... They are about to go at it when I believe rule enforcer Fonzie comes out and bars Bad Blood from reforming. Axl says "F-- it" and attacks his brother... Public Enemy watch them brawl, when out of no where the mother F'N GANGSTAS debuet by jumping PE and leaving them a bloody mess, and then the police arrest the Gangstas for tresspassing or whatever... GOLD
NoCalMike Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Raven's Nest esp. Dancin' Stevie Richards bWo Taz/Sabu buildup to Barely Legal was fucking CHOICE(even though their ecw arena rematch was a better match then their barely legal match) Three Way Dance gimmick matches were great. So much better then Triple Theat. The Eliminators/Gangstas feud was gold Malenko/Guererro feud Beulah/Kimona lesbian angle Francine's crush on Stevie Francine turning on Pitbulls plenty more....
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I always enjoyed the Return of the Funker (Terry Funk coming out of the box to fight Foley dressed as Sandman) was one of the best Angles ECW EVER did. - Also I really enjoyed the Angle where Foley would do nothing but restholds to piss off the fans. Best. Heelmove. EVER
Youth N Asia Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 The best part about Foley's restholds match was the crowd starting The Wave and Styles going on about it. Joey: "Here it comes again!...WHOOOOAAA!"
Guest Mosaicv2 Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 I always enjoyed the Return of the Funker (Terry Funk coming out of the box to fight Foley dressed as Sandman) was one of the best Angles ECW EVER did. FUNK IN A BOX!! best ECW moment EVER!! just loved it
