If Savage-Steamboat had happened today, a lot of people probably would have reacted with "screwjob finishes suck, ***3/4". ;)

Nah, I think people would be impressed that Savage, over the hill with bad knees, can still replicate a match done approx 17 years prior with a legend who hasn't wrestled in 10 years. Sure, people would bitch about old man Steele waddling down, but the old school marks would get a kick out of it. But I'll give you that copying a match is no way to earn bonus cookie points with many smarks. Hmmm . . . I guess you're right, It'd end up ***3/4. My bad.

It'd get two stars just for zombie Elizabeth....

It had a screw job finish?

Not really.

More of a sudden finish.

Hogan slamming Andre.

Either Bret vs Austin or Elizabeth reuniting with Savage for 2nd place.

There's nothing else that even comes close.

Steele pushed Savage off the top rope...I think that might qualify as outside interference.

Not to mention Savage getting a clean visual fall with the big elbow while the ref was down.

But Steele's interference didn't keep Savage down.

Steamboat actually won the match for himself thanks more to the misstep of Savage than the shove.

*shrug* You see it your way, I see it mine.

32: Austin bleeding profusely with Bret applying what was probably built up as the most devastating hold at that time, and Austin refusing to give in, making him immortal and a mega-star.

15: WWF's biggest icon is defeated by the "next big thing" and both embrace to showcase what the WWF was about in that era; sportsmanship (chuckles).

31. Geriatric Match- Hukster vs. Nacho Man

Dear god. That wasn't even on the actual PPV.

I vote 7

with BILLIONAIRE TED AS THE SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE... Ted did a prematch wink at the camera with it doin a huge zoom at his EYE!! & Lawler & McMahon watch it like a MST3K movie... lol

It has to be Bret/Austin for me. That really led into my favorite period of all time for the WWF (Hart Foundation, DX, Austin's rise to the top)

Definitely #17. No question about it.

#45 was big, but the match kinda lost heat after a while. Not to mention that the build-up kinda sucked -- what with Hogan "crushing" the ambulance so that Rocky could do his international publicity stunt for The Scorpion King.

Buildup is irrelevant. It's the most memorable MOMENT. It's at least top 5, I still have never heard a reaction quite like that, especially so incredibily opposite as face/heel...

I find it damn hard to decide between Bret/Austin and Hogan/Andre. Both great moments in wrestling history, both made new superstars, both great moments, eh, I liked Bret/Austin better, thats my pick.

I am upset that S.D. Jones doing the 9 second job is not up there.

But I'll go with #7.

Seriously though, how many people at the time knew that? About 5/10% of the total Mania audience...at most. We all know Vinnie likes to bend the truth a little.

And Steve Allen with the Bolsheviks...meh, I got a laugh out of it. Not exactly a classic moment though.

Why does the greatness of the Austin-Rock match from Wm17 get overshadowed by Vince McMahon? And looking back, what was so great about McMahon-Hogan? It all ended up meaning nothing a few weeks later.

I wonder which moments got bumped so Vince could get himself on the list as much as possible. Hell, I'm shocked "Vince hitting Rock with a chair and handing HHH the title" at WM2000 wasn't on there.
