Guest Quik Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Seriously. Throughout all of WWE/F's history, has a moderately serious wrestler ever had a stupider finisher than the World's Strongest Slam? On what basis is it effective? He's fat, so the impact of a powerslam is even more powerful? Gimme a fuckin' break. Is there anything Mizark can use as a finisher that could be slightly more effective than the crap he uses now? Anything; a fucking splash off the top rope. Whatever. Name a new finisher for Mark Henry.
AndrewTS Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Isn't the Bearhug worse, though? He used a second rope splash before. That's a lot better.
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 I like it. But then again, I liked Damien Demento's Big Knee of Doom and was raised on Hogan's Big Leg Drop, so the Big Slam is actually a step up...
OldSchoolWrestling Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Cena's finisher is nothing more than a slam either.

DrVenkman PhD Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Yes, but Cen'a up and over motion makes you diazzy for the 3 count! Much like the Angle Slam, I guess. I'm not sure if it was a WWF finisher or not (since I only have WrestleMania 5 to go on) but the 'Garvin Stomp' seems really lame. It's a FRIGGIN STOMP, people. It could be anyone form Ronnie Garvin to Someone Who is Not Strong Or Something Like That, Fill in Your Own Name doing a stomp.
notJames Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Maybe if he gorilla-pressed the guy before using that falling slam in one fell swoop, it would look a little more impressive. Of course, I don't know if that many wrestlers would trust him enough to do that, considering how stiff the guy seems to work.
Downhome Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Cena's finisher is nothing more than a slam either. I believe I like Henry's finisher more than Cena's.
notJames Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 From what I remember, the Garvin Stomp was just a spot... I don't remember him using it as a finisher. Sometimes he used it to set up his submission move... can't remember if it was a sharpshooter or Texas cloverleaf.

He used the Garvin Stomp in his NWA days and also used it in his world title win over Ric Flair. He used it to wear down his opponents limbs. That's psychology baby!
Guest Coffey Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 You do realize that the Junkyard Dog used the "Thump Slam" (which is IDENTICAL to the "World's Strongest Slam") way before Mark Henry was ever even wrestler, don't you?
Downhome Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Why did John Cena go from doing a DVD to the shitty excuse for a finisher that he does now?

Hmm, we should really kill him for his inept wrestling abilities then. Oh, wait...
Aero Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 I don't think Steiner has a permanent finisher that he uses on a weekly basis yet (so that excludes the Steiner Recleiner). But the two finishers he has used, the reverse DDT and downward spiral, have been pretty bad.
Slingshot Suplex Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Sgt Slaughter's noogie is easily the worst. Garvin did finish some tv matches with the Garvin Stomp but it wasn't his primary finisher...that would be the big right hand. Which isn't a lot better as a finisher.
nl5xsk1 Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Garvin Stomp > Heart Punch You're full of crap. The heart punch rocks. And would work as a finishing move much more believably than the Garvin Stomp. Hell, I'd believe that as a finisher than the World's Strongest Slam. And wasn't a punch in the face the finisher that Garvin used for most of the time while in the NWA, rather than the Garvin Stomp? Hands of Stone, Ronnie Garvin.

The Garvin Stomp wasn't his finisher. His Hands of Stone would knock his opponent out and then he'd go in for the pin. Unless of course he was fighting someone who wasn't a jobber. He won the title with a Sunset Flip off the top rope in a cage.
Guest Just J Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Hogan's leg drop and The People's Elbow are much worse.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Here's a bad finisher, The Worm. I mean first Scotty gives the guy a shitty bulldog and the gives him a halfassed chop and that's enough to beat the guy? Whatever.
2GOLD Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 You also had the Hacksaw clothesline to the knee and the Mongo football tackle which was nothing more than a shoulder block at times. Shawn Michaels used a back suplex which looked very weak and don't forget the Ultimate Warrior's finishers. Or the IRS big clothesline and the Lex Luger elbow to the head. You could go on and on about finishers that were incredibly stupid and pointless if you wanted too.

JYD's Thump Slam was more of a "walking" over-the-shoulder powerslam, as opposed to DBS's "running" powerslam. Seriously, JYD would take one step and then seemingly just fall over with the guy under him. Luckily he had his charisma to fall back on.
DrVenkman PhD Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Lex Luger had solid steel in that forearm to the head, 2GOLD. That's a hardcore finisher. Shane Douglas' transition move finisher (the belly to belly) was bad, but better than the WSS. I don't want to say the Tornado Punch since I marked out for it when I started watching WWF in 91, but yeah, that was a bad finisher (unless Perfect was selling it).

CanadianChris Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Face Crush (when he was "Kona Crush") used that ridiculous Cranium Crush. I've used the word "crush" far to many times in this post.

Guest Fook Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Outback Jack's Boomerang and Phantasio's Magic Wedgie are much worse than the World's Fattest Slam.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Well to be fair it wasn't like those guys wrestled long enough for people to remember their finishers.
razazteca Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Phantasio's Magic Wedgie Need to see pics or vid of this!
