Spanky quits WWE

Recommended Posts

Remember that big six man tag match that Spanky was a part of...a SD ME I believe.

Spanky will be back in WWE by the end of this year, I really do believe that.

It really wouldn't surprise me to see him return, but only if he gets promised a push, or at least a spot on TV.

I wonder what Spanky vs. Matt Sydal or Spanky vs. Delirious would be like on a GCW card...

-Patrick

Maybe in the suspected GCW Lightheavyweight title tourney?

Could be...I think the main factor in the "names" that GCW brings in for that tournament will be whether or not those names will be able to draw enough to compensate for the cost of bringing them in. In short...would Spanky be a draw?

I could see some of the TNA names that have frequented GCW getting involved, like Jerry Lynn or Kid Kash or Elix Skipper. Spanky would be a welcome addition as well.

Personally I'd like them to stick to the core GCW roster(with a few other local workers and maybe some one-shots by people like Billy McNeil, Ryan Ash, etc.) Their light heavyweight roster is great on its own, though the case you once made(about raising the credibility of the title by having a "name" compete for it) is a very good one as well.

Either way, I'm rooting for Matt or Delirious to win it and I'm rooting for Shawn Almighty and maybe Sean Vincent to go far in the tournament...of course, this involves seeing what Strychnine does with the belt.

Could Dreamer get the ax from WWE?

Jim Ross has been given the green light to eliminate any salaries that he feels aren't producing, which has raised tension among wrestlers. One guy who is said to be especially nervous about being fired is Tommy Dreamer.

Reports like these are the ones that are pointless. You could do this with just about any jobber.

Spread the word!

I'm blown away Spanky quit, though. They should have just given him an angle with Shawn. And Shawn's been previously noted as saying he'd do the job if it meant getting him over.

What's made this situation worse is that Ultimo has been rumored to be talking about quiting, since the WWE has done nothing with the guy and a WM match seems unlikely.Combined with London's situation, and the CW division (if yoou could really call it a division) is in serious jeopardy.

Good. That'll keep hosses like A-Train off of Smackdown and doing Velocity duty.

Mike Sparks was fired last night...WHO'S NEXT??

Sean O Haire.

Anyway, a good move for Spanky. He'll be much more appreciated in Japan, he'll have much better sparring partners, and be free to work his style and be in a spot he deserves.

Anyone but Mike Sparks!

In all seriousness, while I am disappointed and slightly pissed that Spanky left, it doesn't surprise me either. Once he was past the "being demolished by Undertaker" thing, he got over pretty quickly, yet WWE couldn't be arsed to do anything with him other than mini-feuds with Matt and Cena.

Well, I never get to see Smackdown, and I rarely, if ever, watch Velocity anymore, so truthfully this news doesn't impact me that much. At least not for now.

However, if Kendrick winds up in NWA:TNA, even if it's just for one or two appearances, I say this is great news.

I don't get to watch or follow Zero-One, despite the fact that Steve Corino is there (he's one of my favorite wrestlers) so if "Spanky" stays exclusive to them, this won't affect me either.

Outside of the one Ring of Honor comp. tape that I had made for me, I never get to follow them either. Living in Terre Haute, Indiana sucks. I quit watching Monday night Raw, so all I have now are WWE PPV's and NWA:TNA on Wednesday nights.

I know that Kendrick can go from the RoH work of his that I've seen. Same with Paul London and American Dragon.

I will admit that this news was a big shocker to me. I can understand why wrestlers would be in shock and awe. Not really because they care, but because the news came out of nowhere.

Here's to hoping that after Zero-One for a little while, NWA:TNA snatch up Brian "Spanky" Kendrick and sign him to a contract like they did "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles.

Does Spanky have any idea how pitifull the economy is right now? Honestly, he may not have been happy with the way the company has handled him so far. But is he going to do that will pay him the same salary he made in WWE?

Just to comment, since the "crisis meetings" on Raw and Smackdown, we've heard about wrestlers being upset at management, management thinking OVW is a piece of shit because it has no "big guys", Spanky leaving the company out of frustration, Mike Sparks getting the boot, and Goldberg being let go after WM. Now I ask you, how did these meetings actually help the WWE?

Remember the "Paul London joins WWE" thread where Dorkboy kept talking about how it was a good thing that he finally realized his dream, in spite of how everyone else predicted his potential misuse?

This only helps to prove no good can come from young-up-and-coming cruisers joining the WWE

Did London quit?

No.

Considering Spanky's place on the card I doubt he was making that much. And I bet he could make just as much if not more on the indies or in Japan.

Raven said he was making about half again as much as he was in WWE the first week he started taking indy bookings again. Granted, Spanky isn't as big a name as Raven but he'll still probably do OK.

The economy is irrelevent (and improving). He will be a permanent guy for Zero-1, and that coupled with US Indy dates inbetween tours will make him more money than he made with WWE.

He'll do well enough.

Think about this way. He will have a full time Japan job. Anytime he is in the US, it is almost certain he'll have a full weekened of bookings. TNA will most likely use him so that is a mid-week pay day when he is not in Japan.

I can't imagine what he will make from those will be significantly less than what he made in the WWE.

You know what shocks me.

People like Ultimo, who are supposedly intelligent men, going to the WWE KNOWING Vince's opinions of big man wrestlers being more marketable than smaller wrestlers...

...which he's fully entititled to. Just because you don't agree with Vince doesn't mean Vince HAS to agree with you...

...plus the fact he's Japanese. Despite all that, Ultimo leaves his homeland, leaves a confortable position in Japan bringing up new talents like CIMA, and actually THINKS Vince will push him.

Any cruiser who expects to arrive in the WWE and be pushed over a big man by Vince, no matter how talented they are, is quite frankly either an idiot, or deluding himself.

And yet, in 2004, indie stars will still move to the WWE, and then wonder why they're not getting pushed. The evidence is all there. All Spanky/Ultimo/London needed to do was look at Vince's track record. Any cruiser who doesn't know Vince's preferences by now is an idiot.

No.

I was making an analogy

I'm sure it was Kendrick's dream to wrestle for the WWE as well, but how can you really feel your dream to be fulfilled when you wind up playing JTTH or being on the bitch end of Smackdown Sketch "Comedy"-o-rama

Everything that once made wrestling great is gone. It'll be near impossible to repair it. I suggest people either

a. lower their standards

b. have the cash to buy old school, japanese, or indy shit from traders

c. quit watching

Everything now sucks. Spanky knows it. He'll wrestle a few more years to y'know, actually wrestle....then he'll have to do something else for a hefty payday. The days of WWE being the promiseland are through.

Agreed.

Raw wrestlers, are you listening? WALK THE FUCK OUT on Monday night at 7:45 PM...send the shitheads on top the message that they've been refusing to hear.

But he HASN'T been jobbing, especially since he's teamed up with London.

He's just angry that he's not being used enough, which is a pretty weak excuse (unless the salary was basically equivalent to working Zero-1 or the U.S. indies.)

Good luck to Spanky in the near future, though.

Boy, that would be great for the roster - 35 guys breaching their contracts and going off to work the indies, where it will become even MORE of a muddled mess there.

I'd love to see where that group of workers end up.
