Diddy, Nelly & Kid Rock are scheduled for the half time show. The game will take place at Reliant Stadium (Houston, TX) on February 1st and will air live on CBS. The U2 frontman's offer to perform a duet with Jennifer Lopez during the Super Bowl halftime show was rejected by the organization. Bono had hoped to perform his new song, "An American Prayer," which he had planned to use as pitch to attract attention to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. MTV, which is producing the program, signed off on the performance, but the NFL flinched at the subject matter. A spokesman for the NFL indicated that the organization didn't find Bono's message in keeping with the atmosphere it sought for the Super Bowl. "We simply decided that we were going to deliver, as we do annually, an extremely entertaining halftime show," the spokesman told the New York Daily News. The Super Bowl last year (or was that 2 years ago), the season premier of this year's NFL season (the Washington-NYJ game) and now this. It's amazing how they collected a group of artists to surround the biggest game of the year, yet couldn't find one that I don't really, really dislike. But then again, I'm a football fan so they don't need to 'wow' me to get me to watch. I'll watch in spite of the shit that they surround the game with, not because of it. The NFL and Aerosmith, and Bon Jovi I think, do a lot for the same charities as well. Plus, it's smart to get older bands like Aerosmith, U2 and Bon Jovi on these shows because Football isn't just about kids and young adults. At least then I'd had a reason to watch halftime cause this show just screams "Lame as hell". U2, I'm not a big fan, was very good last year and one of the better halftimes I have seen in awhile. After that god awful Britney performance, it was a nice twist. And the wrong message? God, use the damn football halftime show for SOMETHING good. (Admittedly not a fan anymore, but he's got precedent. What does Kid Rock have?) A man who started from the bottom up, by washing cars for his boss and getting him food(much like what he did to the other ungrateful bastards on the show) or some fuck who got his break by impersonating Vanilla Ice? P Diddy please. Janet Jackson, while I'm not a fan of her music anymore, has a much better voice and has created way better songs in the past than Kid Rock. Aerosmith does suck however. Nelly is on there because the didn't give him alot of airtime the last time he performed at the SuperBowl.
