Guest stardust Report post Posted January 18, 2004 My first year of college I had a 3.6 or so. Then I transferred here and it all started going downhill. Honestly, I'm still not sure what my GPA is since my graduation check has two different GPAs on it. My UNT GPA is a 2.651 whereas my GPA including transfer hours is a 2.862. If my overall GPA is the latter, I'm hoping to bring it up to a 3.0 this semester so I can at least graduate with a B average. If not, I'll settle for having it at a 2.75 or so, just as long as I get to walk in five months. And here we're on the straight A, B, C, D, F scale, too--no + or - although it is being considered and I think went into effect for recent new students but not for those of us who have been here for a while. The school I went to first did use the +/- scale and I can definitely say that it helped my GPA more than hurt it since I seem to be one of those on the cusp people who is right there at making the next highest grade but just can't seem to do it. Mole 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 B in Psychology B in English B in Human Development (worthless class that means nothing for transfers A in Government 3.25..not too bad for my first semester in college. That's what I got my first semester of college, and it all went down hill from there. Really I did terrible my first year of college......and now I'm moving up. I didn't do well in high school because I was a slacker, so I came into college saying I wasn't going to do that anymore. So I changed my study habits, and did very well. lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 What sucks the most is that I went from having a 3.8-4.0(it always varied) in High School to a 2.49 in College. Damn you OU. You pretty much have to be a dumbass to get lower than a 3.8 in high school. Well, either a dumbass or a slacker. yeah ok
Guest Jimbo Report post Posted January 18, 2004 3.28 GPA-- 2 A's, 4 B's...the grades are good enough considering the situation, but it shoulda been 4 A's and 2 B's....

I won't get my grades in those classes until May I'm taking Intro to Broadcasting, which is bascially the same exact class as Mass Media in Society. I don't know why they have two classes just alike, it makes little sense. I wish they had "Movie Directing" or something simular to it.

You're really not gonna find anything quite that specific unless you're at a film school. Or someplace really, really big. We've got a couple Cinematography courses, and certainly theater direction, but that's it.

Hell, they are only offering 5 Comm classes next semester, so that is very annoying. Some people have told me that film school doesn't really teach you the stuff you'll need in "movie business." It is better to just figure stuff out on your own or read a book about it.

Why wouldn't that go over well? Hell, those either seem like bird courses, if they're even real subjects at all. Teaching Apprenticeship? EDIT: I'm in high school. I have two exams on Friday and two on Monday, for my senior year and I can't fuck it up or I won't get accepted into U of T, which has pretty high standards. Yay. Actually, they are all 400 level courses. Nutrition and Disease was the hardest class I've taken at Cornell. More medical terms than I knew what to do with, with an MD professor who talked over everyone's head. Empirical research was an easy A, but to get it I had to clone a DNA library from tissue mRNA and grow cell lines. Teaching apprenticeship was tough. I taught a class as an undergraduate TA. I had to grade twenty 15 page papers, write exam questions, prepare for and teach a 60 minute section each week, and some other stuff. And Mole, I'm Nutritional Biochemistry. I do just about the same stuff as he would.

I can't stand all of the memorizing crap that comes with biology and kinesiology, such a waste of time. For someone whose used to percentages and the like, how does the GPA work? I always thought that 4.0 was perfect or something, but then someone said that they had gotten higher? What's a 4.0 then, like an 85?
