It's like the judges know which one is the best, but that they know Fantasia won't win, so they do everything they can to let us know that. Not saying thats a bad thing at all. chaosrage 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2004 Okay, seriously, saying that Fantasia has a bad voice is like saying Jordan can't play basketball because you weren't a Bulls fan. Not liking her, her style and such is one thing, but I don't think you can possibly deny that the girl has a very good voice. It's nothing to do with her style, she just sounds awful. This week he was pretty dead on, yes. Actually I think he showed more restraint than usual - he was being critical without being mean. How many of you actually vote? I wouldn't be surprised if someone signed her to a developmental deal though - she's definitely got potential, but Idol showed that she's not quite ready yet. Now, for the final 2, you got to ask yourself some questions: - who would put out the better album? - who's the better singer? and most importantly, - who do you dislike the LEAST? For me, the answer to all three is Fantasia, so she gets my vote. Fantasia is probably more versatile, she knows that she doesn't ALWAYS HAVE TO SHOUT, and her smiles look, you know, genuine. It takes years to hit Diva status (booooo to VH-1 for calling Jessica Simpson a diva), but I believe Fantasia, with the right direction, could get there....of course, we ALL know the plastic oinker is taking this one, so why bother watching? Jennifer, LaToya and Fantasia were similar enough that vote-splitting was inevitable. Fantasia being a bit more "unique" than the other two probably helped carry her all the way to the finals, and I'm sure that Simon is happy about that. Obviously, they look different, but vocally, you could always tell which one was Fantasia - she's the one with the love-it-or-hate-it tone. And I'm only speculating on that. Maybe there's something else, but they were all bottom 3 when Jennifer got the boot, and again were the bottom 2 when LaToya went. And Fantasia's still standing. Most people I know have been calling her the best since the first show, while the others call her number two behind Latoya. I don't know a single person, not friends, or people at work, or even people on the bus that discuss it that have once said she didn't have a great voice, besides you guys on this site. Diana can sing but, I would have never put her in the top 2. She isn't need right now in the music scene. She's never going to more popular than tween it girls Hilary and Lindsay. Plus, she always comes off as a nerdy, preppy, too much crack, fake person. Also she hasn't been consistant. I don't really like Fantasia but she is the better of the 2. Why? She's brought it on every theme besides Salsa or whatever which was Diana's night.. She's proven she's versatile. She definatly comes off as a more genuine REAL person than Diana. She can work the audience. The vocals are hit or miss but she can be really, really good. Again she isn't near being my favourite. My favourite was Jennifer. I'm in the same boat...everyone I know has been saying Fantasia has been the best since the beginning, and only place I've seen disagreements is one the net. But I have to look at the fact that most of the people Ive talked to about the show are black. So what's her uniqueness? The fact that her voice sounds like a mockery of a good singer. It's not that she's TRYING way to hard to put soul in her voice...but that's her natural voice. She even sounds like that when talking..so why would you try to change it..to please the ones that don't like it? And her uniqueness? Have you see the way she reacts with the crowd? Every other show or whatever..have you seen the way she can just walk through the crowd dancing...singing...what a real artist should do, just no fear. Where as most of the other contestants stand in the one simple spot in from of the mic doing a little something. And even the ones that weren't scared...they stil didn't walk throughout the crowd, or as the judges said "connected" with them the way that she has...other then George Huff..and even he didn't really like go in the crowd or anything. I can tell you that in my workplace, people don't like her because of her voice and/or her sassiness. Noone denies that she can sing - if you couldn't sing, you wouldn't make it to the final 32. But she's got that personality where you like it or you don't. However, she's in the final 2, so obviously more people think like you than me. Or maybe they hate Barbie more. Doesn't matter at this point - she's in, and the others ain't. The one thing that gives Barbie an edge is her improvement. Hey, when you do poorly, the judges criticize, and you can adjust. It also adds a healthy dose of fear in you, and makes you try just a wee bit harder. Fantasia really hasn't had a poor performance, and that might lead to a bit of overconfidence. That Idiot Paula saying "you don't need to win this" could cost Fantasia the lucrative contract (I'm sure the 2nd place contract will be pretty good, but winning probably gives you a better deal, and better perks) if she doesn't treat next Tuesday seriously. I see they went through with the whole voting change they've been talking about on the news..that's supposed to make it more reliable, and I think it's a good thing they did. First two performances are done, and personally I didn't think either were the best. Diana had a lot of cracking, but it was still pretty good. And Fantasia, I don't think it was as bad as Simon said, but not her best because she sang it "to church" I guess would be the way they'd say. PLus the K-Ci and Jojo version is better.
