PLAGIARISM! Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Just today got The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace Magazine - The Correct Use of Soap Wire - Chairs Missing (replacing my fucked copy) The Slits - Cut Update - To be honest, I can appreciate the slits being ahead of their time and all, but this isn't the sort of thing I can listen to much. I like The Fall, Wire are of course awesome and 'I'm a Party' off the Magazine album is fast becoming addictive.
Guest Neuro Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I'd just buy that Slits album for the cover.
PLAGIARISM! Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I'd just buy that Slits album for the cover. Yeah. And I do enjoy it now. Some albums take me a while cos I buy four or five and get hooked on one. If one of them's not as immediate, I'm all like 'well fuck that one, I'm gonna play sparks again!' and soforth.

Girl bands tend to grate on me after a while, though.
ArkhamGlobe Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 On vinyl: Prince - 1999 Prince - Lovesexy
PLAGIARISM! Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I've practically given up on the guy I lent Pink Flag to, and I'm seriously about to just cave in and buy it again. I've got On Returning (77-79) So I can still listen to 'Ex Lion Tamer' on repeat but that's unfair to the rest of the godlike songs on that album.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I can't stand the Slits. Just some girls with no sense of rhythm trying to play dub. Feh. Anyway, I'm being frugal with my money, so I can't buy anything anytime soon. So I'm just gonna post a list of the next five albums I want to buy: 1. LCD Soundsystem - s/t (I decided I like this enough to want to legally acquire it.) 2. Stars of the Lid - The Ballastrated Orchestra 3. Elvis Costello - Rhino's King of America reissue. I have the original Columbia release on vinyl, so I'd like to upgrade. 4. Black Dice - Creature Comforts 5. Something by Sunn O)))
Kinetic Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 My roommate burned me a copy of XTC's English Settlement the other day. It's good. I'm sort of uninitiated with this band, having heard only Drums and Wires prior to this, and these songs are much longer and a lot less hooky. I like this less, and I'm really starting to not like "Senses Working Overtime" at all, but it's still pretty interesting.

I think the problem with English Settlement is just that, you have to know what came first. It is long, which means it's not a good introduction. But man, when the hooks do come through...
Murmuring Beast Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 The Byrds: Mr Tambourine Man (second hand: £3)
PLAGIARISM! Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I've finally secured Third Reich n Roll on CD. Surprisingly, I've never actually owned it before.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Beck-Guero Pretty good, actually.
Garth Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 The Doors - Waiting For The Sun. This completes my collection of Doors studio albums now. Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique Depeche Mode - Violator

PLAGIARISM! Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 AHAHA, I can never understand the lack of love for Roadworms and I think you will quite like it. Scary shit.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I don't know about that guy. I've heard two SYL albums, and while he's certainly diverse and gifted in the ways of metal, it's like he tries to add myriad subgenre quirks and sounds together in the same proportions, resulting in everything getting muddy and samey. Some people think he's the end of the world though, so maybe he's one of those musicians you have to "get."
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 tekcop, right the fuck on with the Gorguts.
godthedog Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 John Coltrane-My Favorite Things not his best work. it isn't really melodic or really wild, i'm kind of indifferent to it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Exactly how I feel about Fear of Music. I haven't listened to that Coltrane yet. I'm still listening to Bitches Brew in pieces and staring at my speakers.
Only The Strong Survive Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Children of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll Children of Bodom - Trashed, Lost, & Strung Out (Single)
Edwin MacPhisto Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I finally bought a proper New Order album, picking up Low-Life tonight. Very good, and the first song, "Love Vigilantes," was worth the entire purchase, because I never would have it heard it otherwise and it's one of the coolest, most unique New Order songs I've ever heard. I also bought INXS' Kick on vinyl for $1.99. I don't even have a record player, but that cover is going to look ridiculous when I hang it on my wall. Might even frame the bastard.

Guest Crazy Dan Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I just purchased the Mars Volta "Deloused in the Consortuim" Great album, as I really have gotten into this band recently. I like how they mix many styles of music together, to create a very unique sound. I am going to see them at the Greek Theater in Bezerkly on June 3, as an early 30th Birthday present. Can't hardly wait.

I thought I was bad. You'll either love or hate The Commercial Album dependent on if you suck or not.
