EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Jerry Lynn's TNA Future Not Looking Bright Creative team not high on him... Jerry Lynn has been told by TNA officials that they likely won't be booking him anymore. Dutch Mantel has made it known in the creative meetings that he doesn't have a role for Lynn. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Because Vince Russo got his job back...and he considers Lynn a valuable part of the company.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 What job is that?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 From the Torch site: Vince Russo was backstage at last night's NWA-TNA PPV. He attended the preshow meetings and produced backstage segments. In other words, he was back to the same duties he had before he was shipped out when Hulk Hogan appeared to be part of the picture. Hogan expressly didn't want to be part of TNA if Russo were around because of the lawsuit Hogan filed against Time Warner and Russo for his final night in WCW when Russo made unplanned shoot comments against him on national PPV. Now that it appears the Hogan deal is off indefinitely, Russo is free to return to his old duties. Russo was instrumental in faciliating the return of Jerry Lynn to TNA, a valuable worker for the promotion who had fallen out of favor with Jeff Jarrett in recent months and who did not impress TNA's other booker, Dutch Mantel. Russo is a former WWF scriptwriter and WCW head scriptwriter.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 22, 2004 This situation is pretty sad. How the hell are they just gonna totally act as if they don't need Lynn? I know he doesn't bring in huge PPV revenue or anything, but still. This guy was the MVP of the company in it's first year(with the exception of AJ Styles) and they still don't relize that they need him. Nope, all they needs is a over the hill wrestler and his goofy ass manager that nobody gives a shit about any more. Good move TNA.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Never thought I would say it after what he produced near the end of his last booking run in TNA, but I'm glad Russo is back in the fold after that tremendous show last night and especially since he got them to bring Lynn back. Mantel doesnt know his ass from a hole in the ground as far as who to push and who not to push, keep around, let go, etc

RedJed 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 after that tremendous show last night I can't tell if you're being sarcastic there or not! No I'm serious, I thought that was a very well done show last night, had a wild atmosphere and there really wasnt that much that was dull other than the David Young match. Sure had more action and things happening than most Mantel productions on average. To each their own though.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Man, I'm almost happy Russo is back, yet I'm not sure why. Is it because Mantel hasn't impressed me? Is it because he tries to involve everyone? I'm not sure. I HATE him when he's on my screen, but some things he does are ok. Shoot me now.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Man, I'm almost happy Russo is back, yet I'm not sure why. Is it because Mantel hasn't impressed me? Is it because he tries to involve everyone? I'm not sure. I HATE him when he's on my screen, but some things he does are ok. Shoot me now. It's because Russo isn't all bad. Even you admit it. He really isn't half bad. Sure, somedays, he sucks balls, but he at least gets everyone involved with the product, making everyone apart of the gameplan and sticking to it. Even if it is crap. Then again, I didn't really care for Russo's run near the end with WCW, so I'm not saying he's totally wonderful. He's about on par with most intelligent bookers. When he's good, we reap the benefits of great stuff. When he whiffs, we suffer absolute shitty stuff. But from what I've heard (remember, I don't watch TNA product simply cause I can't), he's definitely a better booker than Mantel has been.
eirejmcmahon 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 No I'm serious Cool, the crowd was nuts at times but I thought it was an average show myself.
Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Last night's show was very good. If the crowd is going nuts, but the entire time they're chanting something that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what is going on in the ring, is that a good thing? HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Let Russo do all the booking and whatnot for the midcard guys, and let Dutch handle the main event scene. That would probably work best, considering we all know in a couple of weeks, the torch will be reporting Russo and Mantel were butting heads over booking. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 What a fucking joke. Jerry Lynn is someone that TNA should be built around. He doesn't deserved to be jobbed out to jerkoffs like Michael Shane. Hopefully with Russo back, Lynn will be back to stay.
Styles 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I'm kind of confused, they brought him back and he is announced as the captain for Team TNA for the X Cup, yet he's not being brought back? I will agree I never thought I'd say it but I'm glad Russo's back. I hate the guy and on his own he's terrible, but when he was edited by Jarrett and Disco and whoever else was involved he got some really good shows out of TNA. To say I've been disapointed in Dirty Dutch is an understatement. I think this guy needs to be demoted to a consultent role immediately.
Mole 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Hogan expressly didn't want to be part of TNA if Russo were around because of the lawsuit Hogan filed against Time Warner and Russo for his final night in WCW when Russo made unplanned shoot comments against him on national PPV. How could Hogan sue TW for that? What would he say at court? Hogan: Well Judge, they said some very mean things to me my last night in WCW. Judge: Wait, you still wrestle? I thought you would have retired 3 years ago. You have less hair then my father and he is 97. Hogan: Hey, that's mean. I am sueing you. Judge: How bout I arrest you for using roids? Hogan: Roids, what are you talking about? (While his shirt rips open because he is too big and more hair starts falling out) Anyway I don't watch TNA, but from what I have read and form what I have saw, Lynn was one of the best wrestlers in TNA. It seems like TNA is pulling a WWE because they don't know how to use a good wrestler.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 The lawsuit, by the name, got thrown out of court. Russo slandered a "character," and not Terry Bolea himself.

tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2004 I thought it was funny on 411wrestling.com, they posted this week-old newsbit about Lynn right above their 411 TNA Report, which recapped his return to TNA.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2004 Russo being back is a good thing. Sure, he's not great or anything, but hopefully he can bring excitement back to TNA. Ship Dutch out...he fucking blows at booking for the U.S.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2004 Dutch books to slow for a ppv show. Plus he cares more about the storyline than the character. Russo books to fast and sloppy...but he does develop more interesting characters. Keep Russo as an offscreen writer...and that's fine with me.
