Celtics Head Coach Resigns

Recommended Posts

Guest FrigidSoul

Jim O'Brien just resigned saying he hasn't felt good since the Ricky Davis trade because his defense was gutted. Ainge and Scott have a good relationship and he may be brought it. That's all I've heard thus far.

Welcome to The Pitino Era, Part II. I swear, Ainge is going to move to the bench next year. Oh well, the Fleetcenter didn't need all those seats filled, anyway.

This is pretty much being totally ignored up here, BTW.

Yea thanks to the Pats and the Red Sox we don't have to even care what the Celtics do up here.

For the record I really liked Obie and I dont blame him for quitting...but please GOD keep Scott away. Go to the Griz.

I have to disagree there. Thus far Ainge has traded away guys that weren't going to be here next season anyways and have brought in 3 good young players in Jiri Welsch, Ricky Davis, and Chris Mihm. Pitino went and traded rookies who he never gave a chance to develop for older crappy players. If the Celts end up getting out of Vin's contract due to his constant substance abuse then the Celts will be very good as far as available money goes next year. I don't see Michael Stewart or Walter McCarty coming back either. Who knows, if Ainge goes and hires Scoot next year that could lead K-Mart to leaning towards coming to Boston due to his relationship with him.

Ainge also stated he has no desires to return to coaching, he just wants to sit back and over-see all of the basketball operations like rebuilding the team for the future.

This season will now go to what it should be, giving minutes to the younger players to develop while keeping Pierce out there so he learns how to be an on-court leader like Walker was.

I'm glad he resigned. But I hope to god we don't sign Byron Scott.

I'm actually happy with Ainges' progress with the team so far.

Jim O'Brien was the best thing to happen to this Celtics team. He's the first coach to lead the C's to a +.500 record. As a Celtics fan I'm having a REALLY hard time being optimistic about this season and the near future...

I hope they don't bring in Scott, I can't honestly see a coach I'd like for them to have right now.

First they trade E-Will and Tony Battie then Baker's gone for good, now we lose

J-O-B :(

Tony Battie's knees are shit, Vin Baker being here isn't Ainge's fault, and E-Will wasn't going to be brought back after this year due to how much he would cost.

Ricky Davis is learning team ball since he knows he isn't "the man" out there(plus he and Pierce are real good friends), Chris Mihm looks like the type of guy that with some work on not picking up fouls he can be a good shot blocker and good off rebounder, and Jiri Welsch is going to be amazing.

Lottery this year, back in the playoffs next year

Almost anyone can get in the playoffs from the East, when you're 22-24 and have the 6th best record in the Conference there's a problem.

Man being a coach in the NBA SUCKS. The guy who checks the food for poison has better job security.

Also we still have a capable Raef Lafrentz who can play PF/C if need be

not until next year

So, Eddie Jordan, coach of the Wizards (hired before the season) now has the longest tenure of any head coach in the division? That's tremendous...

I've stopped trying to keep track of all the new coaches by now, it's hard enough keeping track of the players...

I think Celtics will win 35 games this year, 38 tops. They're building for the playoffs next year. What makes me mad is they could have had a playoff team this year if they stayed put.

What a rediculous conference the east is. The longet running coach has only been there for 11 months. And I don't think they will challenge the stronger teams from the west.
