EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 WWE Notes: Steiner, Triple H/HBK, Rumble Plenty of WWE news items... - Scott Steiner was at RAW on Monday but did not work due to a groin pull. - Triple H and Shawn Michaels were not too happy with their Royal Rumble match, feeling it was not as good as their RAW bout a few weeks back. Both guys were upset that they were not given more time in the ring. - The Royal Rumble was a legit sellout resulting in a gate over $1 million. - Bradshaw and a few other WWE wrestlers joined U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay at a news briefing yesterday to promote the Smackdown Your Vote! campaign. They challenged President Bush to a wrestling match but said they didn't want to challenge Howard Dean after his screech a few days ago. Papacita 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 every wrestler wants more time ('cept Goldberg of course)...it's just they are able to say something about it... Maybe so, but when you consider the match's length in relation to everything else on the card (sans the Rumble), it's a little hard to believe that they'd be upset about that. I swear these newsletters make this shit up just to give smarks something new to bitch about.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I do believe a match with those two should go 35 minutes but not when you have 4 other matches and an hour long match at that... They'll get their 35-45 minute match sooner or later... and it still won't touch Raw 12/29. That was like a temporary thing....For one night only, HHH returned to good. Say what you will about them, but I refuse to believe that HHH and Shawn are that self-absorbed. I don't think they meant it that way. Maybe they just meant enough time to tell a good enough story in a Last Man Standing match. And I concur: you need quite awhile to tell a proper story in a Last Man Standing match. Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Why are they complaining about not enough ring time? It was that lousy finish that ruined the match. Then again, one could make the point that neither complained about it because they both looked good at the end.
The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Considering no other match on the undercard got more than like 8 minutes (including the WWE title match, which went 6:30), they've got a lot of balls for saying 20+ minutes wasn't enough time to work with. Maybe if they shook the cement blocks off and picked up the pace, they could've made better use of their time. WWE style = Slow and Boring.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Most were left disappointed with the no contest finish to the Triple H/Shawn Michaels "Last Man Standing" match at the Royal Rumble. WWE opted to end the match the way it did because they wanted to keep Triple H strong as the WrestleMania XX build started, while also keeping Shawn Michaels strong since he is being moved to the top babyface slot on RAW. The Triple H/HBK feud is expected to continue on TV and at house shows, with Chris Benoit being thrown into the mix to spice things up. The plan right now remains to have Triple H vs. Chris Benoit for the World Title at WrestleMania XX. Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Maybe it would have seemed like that had more time if they did something other than punch and lay around bleeding for 80% of the match.
Guest KJ Brackish Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Take it for what it's worth, but I don't think HBK and HHH needed more time in the ring. I think that they, if non-improvised, need to have a rematch without the writer that wrote that match. HBK and HHH can pull out some good matches while improvising and not doing too many pre-made spots. We'll just see their next encounter, how it ends up. Scroby 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Its funny to me anyways how they wanted the main event shorten for their match. Their match wasn't even that important when you look at the rumble it self, hell I thought Lesnar vs Holly was more important than HBK vs HHH.

spiny norman 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I don't know if it's the ending which is detracting so many people from that match. If you recall The Rock-Mankind from way back was a LMS match which ended in a double countout. While it was a bit of a pissy ending (and it's nice to see they've learned from the reaction to that) it is still seen as a fairly good match because the build to that double countout was good. HHH/HBK, well, nothing really happened. That's why it was a disappointing match. More than the finish.

If you mean the Orton/Steiner bit, at the Rumble, they literally were rolling around on each other for several minutes, which would seem like they were...doing some naughty things. What the hell was all of that about? I just stopped watching the rest of the match and had my jaw drop while they rolled around on the mat. I mean Steiner even pulled Orton down again once he had gotten up. As for Triple H/HBK. The match was fought in slow-motion and they wanted more time? What for? To bore the shit out people even more? Christ when almost every over match is around 4-6 minutes and they get 20+ and pull off a shit fest like that, and want more time, they turely do have their heads up their asses.
