Frankie Williams 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 EIGHT YEARS this man has been in the WWF/E and two more to go. Has there been anyone to accomplish so little in such a long amount of time?? Hes never won a title (and Im not counting the Euro title because that was handed to him), hes had COUNTLESS injuries and has never gotten any heat. Why has he been around so long?? Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted January 29, 2004 they don't want to just pay him to go home and do nothing, they would rather try and piss him off enough to make him leave...unfortunately they couldn't (see Mae Young angle, transvestite angle, etc). He should be better with Teddy Long in his corner
Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Because he signed for a long term deal when he first signed up. He's got heat now by the way and has been the most effective he's ever been so... it probably still wasn't worth it.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 8 years? Alright, so only 2 more years until he gets released. They wouldn't resign him...right?
Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Its possible although it surely won't be on such a long term basis or for as much money.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 8 years? Alright, so only 2 more years until he gets released. They wouldn't resign him...right? I bet they will. He seems like the ultimate yes man to the writing staff. He does any angle they ask him to do and doesn't seem to care if he wins or losses a match.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted January 29, 2004 2 more years and he will have a Decade of Dominance push like the Undertaker did in 2000. I mean, Mark Henry DID beat up Goldberg backstage that one time.
Frankie Williams 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 He's got heat now by the way and has been the most effective he's ever been so... it probably still wasn't worth it. Ok I do agree he has some kind of heat now, BUT do you think its legit heat, X-Pac heat, Sunday Night Heat or a combo of all.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 29, 2004 If it was X-Pac heat he would have been getting it when he was a face as well. I don't think the live audiences want to actually see Henry get murdered in the ring or anything. They've just finally found a character that works for the guy instead of 'strong goof'. Cherry Blossom Viscount 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I don't get the Mark Henry hate, all the reason for disliking him lie in Vince McMahons hands, from his weight, the wrestling ability, contracts, pay, push, angles and gimmicks

Also, I remember back when he'd been in OVW a while...they showed a picture of him on the site, he was lean and cut and looked freakin' scary. He was nothing like the fat slob he had been... So Vince had him put back on almost all the weight he lost to bring him back to TV. Unfreakingbelievable.

Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I have to go with what Dames said in a couple of his Diatribes. Mark Henry is being pushed by his strengths. One shot from him is brutal. Well it should be! He's a 400 monster and built like a brick wall. He should not be flying all over the place if that is what we are expecting. I'm beginning to like the Mark Henry push a little. That match he had with Jericho a while back was pretty damn good. They are getting some worth out of him finally. Kudos to the WWE for actually... a. Actually trying to push the man b. actually getting some heat for him and C. Having him beat the shit out of Goldberg. Kudos to the WWE
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Gee, maybe signing an unproven wrestler to a long term multi-million dollar contract isn't the best idea...and D-Lo Brown got released, no justice. The guy is such a useless sack and will never be any good...I understand they're paying him a boatload and feel they have to use him. But they'd just be better off sending him home and using someone who the fans could give a damn about one way or the other. Sure, he's got a big contract...but unless he's romancing old chicks he's no good to anyone and hurts the product more when he's on it.
Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I don't buy the "they are trying to make him quit" line. WWE do not put people on TV in an attempt to make them quit, this is an international company. IF that was truely their intention they couls keep him in OVW. Upon his signing WWE saw great things in Henry, In Foley's first book he details this, with marketing having various merchadise redy to put on sale. WWE made a bad signing. Henry's role should be to make up and comers look strong by bumping for them. I don't think he'll be re-signed.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I think they meant more during 98/99 when Henry was involved with Chyna and 'Sam' the tranvestite and the whole Mae Young/giving birth to a hand angle deal in terms of them trying to get him to quit out of embarrassment

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 He and D'Lo never got tag gold? Nope...they came close as heels against the Outlaws I think. I don't think they could get him to quit...he's making too much money.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 Even once his current contract is over i doubt the WWE will just let him go completely, unless the WWE suddenly gets over it's emphatuation with big men i'd expect him to be resigned. For a fraction of the cost and length of his current contract for sure, but i'd expect him to be around for a few more years at least.
Guest Repo Man Reborn Report post Posted January 30, 2004 If you don't quit over having a hand with a 600 year old white woman, there is NOTHING the man will say no to. He will get his money. I just like how they told him, D'Lo and Big Show to drop weight and then decided D'Lo was beat and Henry and Show were just fat.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted January 30, 2004 He hasn't been to a single Wrestlemania, and he's been here for 8 years. People who have been in the WWE for shorter length than Henry yet made it to Wrestlemania: Vader Mick Foley(He's been inactive since 2000) Willie Nelson Alex Trebek Pamela Anderson Pete Rose(3 Wrestlemanias!) Johnathan Taylor Thomas Lawrence Taylor(Main event) Ricky Steamboat Ric Flair A-Train Nathan Jones Bull Buchanon D-lo Brown Ozzy Osbourne Aretha Franklin Limp Bizkit Liberace The Executioner Cyndi Lauper Lelani Kai And the list goes on...... The list is almost as big as Mark Henry himself.
