1234-5678 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 The plan now for the WrestleMania XX World Title match is to have a three way involving Triple H, Chris Benoit, and Shawn Michaels. It was originally thought that Triple H and Benoit would go one on one for the title. Credit: PWInsider.com Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Title matches at Mania should always be one on one. k thx 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 It was always on the cards after the draw at RR and the last Raw. At least it gives Benoit/HBK without a heel turn, and means Benoit can win without HHH jobbing.
Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted February 2, 2004 It's HHH and HBK, why should we expect logic or something smart when it comes to how they book them, er I mean how there booked?
Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted February 2, 2004 that kind of sucks but as long as beniot wins, I could care less
1234-5678 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 that kind of sucks but as long as beniot wins, I could care less I'd rather see him beat HHH one on one. This just leaves room for Helmsley to get his belt back the next month, or even the next night on Raw.

BifEverchad 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 We all know WWE can't pull off a proper triple threat match. There are a few small exceptions, but overall, its a waste.
Superstring 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 Benoit pins HBK at WM and then beats HHH clean in the 1 on 1 rematch at Backlash... well a guy can dream

Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 Of course, that won't work, because fans will see Benoit as a loser because he blew his chance again. How many times must HHH do this until people see that he kills their heat in the first month, justifying more wins for him down the line?

It's also a way for Triple H to pin HBK at Mania and keep Benoit strong for Backlash. More than likely, this is exactly what they want. HHH pedigrees HBK at Wrestlemania and then drops the belt to Benoit at Backlash. I don't know how happy that will make anyone since that would mean the heels look to be going over all the main event matches at Mania. Brock over Goldberg HHH over HBK and Benoit Orton/Batista over Foley/Rock So I understand why Taker vs Kane would be the final match, it gives the fans the happy ending for Wrestlemania. Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted February 2, 2004 I *really* like the idea of HHH vs. HBK and HHH vs. Benoit with Benoit vs. Jericho or Flair so it's fair. It gives 3 possible great matches, and we can keep the title match(es) one-on-one.

Backlash is in Benoits home town, right? If Benoit wins the title there it has that long, hard road, fairy tale to it. I'd much rather see Benoit win at Mania, but I just don't see Vince/Triple H doing it. Hell, if I want to get really going with the conspiracy theories. Benoit wins the title at Mania then Triple H beats/screws Benoit out of the title the next month in Benoit's home town to "huge" heat.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 The ode to WM X thing is not happening. HHH does not have the endurance to do it, he was gassed at the Rumble after 23 minutes of laying around.

Remember how everyone was complaining that Jericho beating Michaels at Mania would mean squat b/c everyone will remember the big one? Remember everyone saying Michaels would put him over at Backlash? Remember Michaels returning the job cleanly at all? Yeah I don't remember that match either...oh wait it didn't happen. Don't get to comfortable that the job will be returned at Backlash...or at all. Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted February 2, 2004 Simply put, there's too much build already set for Benoit TO win at Mania, by having him not win, via focusing the story elsewhere, they will basically kill all the momentum he's gained since his match with Brock, which is a lot.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 What makes you think Benoit will still momentum going into WM? It's almost two months away. That's two months of Triple H & HBK not playing nice with others.
Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted February 2, 2004 All they need to do is build on what there is, Benoit can't win the big one, this is Benoit's last chance to win the big one, it's simple as simple pie. I think they will do that, just so they really get good hope to crush at Mania.

Guest JMA Report post Posted February 2, 2004 I'm really tired of Triple H always trying to insert himself into the title match at 'Mania. Why can't we just have Benoit vs. HBK?
Guest Repo Man Reborn Report post Posted February 2, 2004 They need to inject HBK into the match because of Benoit's inability to work "main-event" style. You mean to tell me they can't find a credible opponent for HBK at "Mania? How about the Rock? I can count on five hands how many times he's been sucked kicked by Michaels. How about a little revenge? And bring back heel Rocky. Face Rocky is like heel Triple H. So late 90's.
NYU 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2004 See, I'm neutral on the whole subject of Benoit. I don't like him, but I don't hate him. And personally, a WrestleMania Main Event of Chris Benoit vs. Triple H seems a little....lacking. To me, the match just seems to lack that intangible feeling of starpower and true excitement for the match. Add Shawn Michaels to the mix and suddenly, the match just seems to get a little stronger. I could see WHY they would change the match to a Triple-Threat match. But if they make it into a ladder match....

Don't get to comfortable that the job will be returned at Backlash...or at all. Uhm, Michaels tapped out to the Boston Crab on RAW a few weeks later so you really didn't remember. It wasn't clean so it doesn't count as a real victory for Jericho. If Jericho was to be put over than he'd have to win cleanly. That didn't happen. The purpose of the cheating was to have Michaels lose but not lose. Otherwise the match would have been clean. It wasn't.
