DrVenkman PhD Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Apologies if it's been covered... The following are the list of extras on the WWE Monday Night Wars DVD, which is scheduled to be released next Tuesday: *Stone Cold Steve Austin & Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (Austin and Michaels win titles, from Raw, 5/26/97) *Stone Cold Steve Austin stuns Mr. McMahon for the first time (09/22/97, from RAW at Madison Square Garden) *Jim Cornette commentary (10/27/97, from RAW) *Vince McMahon interview: "Bret screwed Bret" (11/17/97, from RAW) *Shawn Michaels & Triple H vs. The Legion of Doom (from RAW, 12/15/97) *D-X invades WCW (04/27/98, from RAW) *The last Nitro *nWo in the production truck (07/22/96) *Eric Bischoff challenges Vince McMahon (05/11/98) *Chris Benoit vs. Booker T (06/01/98) *Bill Goldberg vs. Hulk Hogan (Goldberg wins WCW World title, from Nitro, 7/6/98) *Ric Flair returns to WCW (094/14/98) *Rick Rude appears on Nitro and RAW on the same night (11/17/97)
JoeDirt Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Cool stuff, though they could easily have added 10 times that amount. The complete final Nitro is pretty cool, though. What was Flair coming back from in 98 in that segment?
Guest Real F'n Show Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 thats awesome there putting the entire final nitro on here. that whole show was awesome and I taped over my only copy by accident. also benoit vs. booker and owen/bulldog vs. austin/hbk make this a worthy pickup IMO
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 There's no way they are putting the whole Nitro on there. I bet it's just a 5 minute feature. Putting a 2 hour show on would be a pretty big deal.
Guest KidKrash Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Well this is a definite must(not) buy for any wrestling fan.
Guest Gary Busey Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 What was Flair coming back from in 98 in that segment? He was coming back from being sued by Bischoff for missing a show. I believe that was the night they reformed the Horsemen.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 That Flair return promo is one of the best there is.
Masked Man of Mystery Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 I wish it had Hart/Benoit, I want to see that so bad, rather than "Bret screwed Bret". He even admits he screwed Bret now.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 I'm sure that's one of the FIRST thing Bret will put on his dvd...
DrVenkman PhD Posted February 6, 2004 Author Report Posted February 6, 2004 Everyone was hoping that Flair segment was on the Flair DVD, so here it is. While I'm sure the feature is more revisionist history, it will probably be interesting. I haven't seen any of those matches (and I understand the tag title one is very good), and the Jim Cornette promo was awesome. I'll probably end up picking it up if I'm in Michigan from BEst Buy or whenever it comes out in Canada (late March).
snuffbox Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 *Eric Bischoff challenges Vince McMahon (05/11/98) *Rick Rude appears on Nitro and RAW on the same night (11/17/97) Im really suprised that vince is including these.
razazteca Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 They can't show the Final Nitro because Rey Mysterio *always* had the mask on. Now if they had the Final Nitro and the Raw of the same night on a DVD complete and uncut then that would be a must have purchase..........but that will never be released.
Guest Krazy Karter Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 "Final Nitro" is most likely the Confidential segment they did in 2002.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 They can't show the Final Nitro because Rey Mysterio *always* had the mask on. Now if they had the Final Nitro and the Raw of the same night on a DVD complete and uncut then that would be a must have purchase..........but that will never be released. I already have both shows taped (the magic of several VCR's, I know) so it wouldn't effect me since I never watch the tapes anyway (making the quality probably VG-EX)
SuperJerk Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 I wish it had Hart/Benoit, I want to see that so bad, rather than "Bret screwed Bret". He even admits he screwed Bret now. That was at a PPV, not on Nitro, right? I think their just including Monday Night stuff.

That was at a PPV, not on Nitro, right? I think their just including Monday Night stuff. It was on Nitro the night after Owen died.

That was at a PPV, not on Nitro, right? I think their just including Monday Night stuff. It was on Nitro the night after Owen died. A few months rather.

Just John Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 *nWo in the production truck (07/22/96) Was this the Rey Mysterio tossing incident?
Michrome Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 The Flair segment is the best in the history of Nitro. There's some stuff being left off that was really key, but oh well.
Use Your Illusion Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 *Eric Bischoff challenges Vince McMahon (05/11/98) *Rick Rude appears on Nitro and RAW on the same night (11/17/97) Im really suprised that vince is including these. Why? When Bischoff called out McMahon, he looked like the biggest tool on the face of the planet and was practically proving the fact that Vince had began handing WCW it's ass every Monday night. The Rude segment, however, I agree with you on. UYI
Scroby Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 The final Nitro can't be on the DVD, or the entire thing rather. Suppoesly the DVD is only 90 minutes long.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 They can't show the Final Nitro because Rey Mysterio *always* had the mask on. They could always blur out his face like they do on Confidential.
fazzle Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 *Shawn Michaels & Triple H vs. The Legion of Doom (from RAW, 12/15/97) Erm, am I forgetting something? What's so special about this match?
Guest Deviant Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Well with any luck, this will pop up in a video store of mine so I can rent it, have a quick look at Cornette's commentary, the two good matches and a couple of other things and then quickly return it. That is one hell of a disappointing DVD. With the years of footage they have, this concept could have easily been done in an epic multi-disk deal ala Flair, HBK and the like, only with inferior match quality. If it was anywhere near an actual look back, I'd buy it in an instant. As it is, I'll go out of my way to avoid buying it.
JustJoe2k5 Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 What did you expect, it's Vince McMahon, a man who can't even do shit with his own company, making a DVD about a company that almost put him out of business. I doubt he would go out of his way to recommend any great matches or segments from WCW's history, and instead add the full version of his rant from the Final Nitro where he ran down the entire WCW locker room. I can only hope that a Best of WCW DVD set is on the horizon because if this is how WWE is going to acknowledge WCW, it sucks.
Guest RickyB Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 The final Nitro can't be on the DVD, or the entire thing rather. Suppoesly the DVD is only 90 minutes long. No, the feature about the Monday Night wars is only 90 minutes long, the extras are longer.
the max Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Looks to be OK, but the lack of Jericho stuff is kind of bothersome. I'll wait on it.
DrVenkman PhD Posted February 6, 2004 Author Report Posted February 6, 2004 The final Nitro can't be on the DVD, or the entire thing rather. Suppoesly the DVD is only 90 minutes long. The main feature ("The Monday Night Wars") is 88 minutes. Then the extras add another 86 minutes to make it about 3 hours (which, I understand, is the amount of footage you can put on a DVD before compressing the quality too much). I wouldn't be surprised if "The Final Nitro" is ripped right from the Flair DVD's chapter on it, myself.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Would it have killed them to put Bret/Benoit (owen tribute match) on there.
