caboose 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2004 All I'm hoping from WrestleMania this year is a stellar Angle-Guerrero match, Benoit to walk out as Champion, Kane to finally beat Undertaker and my seat to be half-decent. So thar card will do for me. And don't forget, last time WrestleMania went to MSG, the card looked lacklustre on paper in terms of big time matches. And we all know what happened there... Austin3164life 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2004 Not sure about the Foley/Orton situation. It would be better and make sense if it were a one-on-one contest. It all depends on if the Rock makes his return or not. I'm just saying that the Royal Rumble looked great on paper, and the shower was slightly above mediocre (Sure, Benoit won, but the show itself wasn't great). Brock/Goldberg and Kane/Undertaker are the only feuds that are getting a good amount of buildup. The rest are either confusing (HHH/Benoit/HBK) or just aren't really getting good buildup at all (Cena/Big Show). Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted February 6, 2004 To compare it to WMX, that card was, while some say decent, filler around 2 blowaway matches, as in, match of the decade candidates. Do we have 2 WMXX matches to compare to that? There's been talk of an Edge/RVD ladder match, right? That could be the little nod to HBK/Razor, and Angle/Eddy can try to be the technical masterpiece of Bret/Owen. Of course those two matches wouldn't be what their predecessors were. Neither Edge or RVD is HBK in his prime, and Angle's selling always causes problems when the match starts looking to be ****+ or closing in on *****. The two potentials were AWESOME. WMXX(speculated) thus far has Eddie/Angle and a whole host of matches that have the potential to be either good or at least memorable. I purposely put Cena/TBS before the Halftime show because I expect Cena to do a Victory Rap where WWE can promote him even more and make him look like a bigger star the mainstream...(Ideally, Jay-Z or Nas would do the Show but Outkast would be more likely as they are wrestling fans although I wouldn't rule out Method and Redman playing a part)... They just need to end the Nu-Metal expirence. This show is in NYC, Home of Rap and Their fanbase aren't Shitty-Nu Metal lovers...The market is largely Hispanic and African-American...play up on it, that being said, Puddle of Mudd will likely do the performence instead. I know Rock/Flair is a streach but with the Rock only being able to do Two shows of hype, You shouldn't put him with a Hardy or anything because they wouldn't get enough time to hype it, Rock/Flair sells itself on Name Value Alone. Although it would the THIRD straight ICON/ICON match for the Rock at Mania. Flair deserves a spot on Mania besides being in Flair's Corner. And what about Batistia? He can play Sid to Flair or HHH. Here's how you set it up...Next week have it that X is granted another shot at the tag titles and Jericho is excited but X slips it in "Oh wait, I'm sorry, I meant *I* get a re-match not US. Sorry about the confusion" Jericho is confused...Matt Hardy is revealed to be his tag team partner...Just to make the match more interesting...Bischoff makes it a Three Way involving the Dudleyz. Jericho goes out and ACTUALLY helps Christian win the tag titles (to make up for dropping the ball last week)...Hardy celebrates but X is pissed... Jericho aplogizes for "stealing his thunder" and X accepts it via A stiff shot to the face...C&C Factory is officcally OVER. So Jericho decides that he wants to avenge his friend's betrayal with the help of someone else who knows what's it like to be betrayed by Christian...EDGE. This is a good thing to do I think, as it gives FOUR good workers something "meaningful" to wrestle for and puts the title off Flair and Batistia without putting it back on Dudleys for once. Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Maybe it's because my interest in the current product is dimming like a year old lightbulb, but I'm just not too excited about the matches for this years "Super Bowl of wrestling". Some random thoughts: I would rather see Benoit vs. Shawn Michales in a singles match for the Title. Maybe it's just the "smark" in me but it's a little unfair that "Hollywood" Rock gets to come back for a one-off match at Wrestlemania while guys like Matt Hardy, Booker T. or Rob Van Dam might not even get a match even though they have worked all year for the company unlike The Rock. Why put Rock in a tag match with Foley? Why not just Mick vs. Randy Orton in some gimmick hardcore match? Chris Jericho vs. Christian....meh but at least they will probably get a spot on the card. Even though the match would suck, I think Vince should have tried to do a Hogan vs. Austin match for this HUGE show. I know it would be unpopular with alot of today's fans but I would like to see a quick "legends match" like Greg Valentine vs. Tito Santana, something to tip the cap to the former greats. I have a bad feeling that 30-40% of the show will be highlights of past Wrestlemanias and a lame new rock group playing "the Wrestlemania theme song" and Austin/Bishoff/Coach skits. I never get WWE PPV's, but I was leaning towards WMXX in order to see Brock/Benoit. Now, I'm back to probably not getting it (or at least just getting the DVD). Triple H/Shawn/Benoit will be a clique lovefest with Benoit playing second fiddle, Brock/Goldberg could be cool just to see Brock kick his ass (the F-5 at RR was sweet), Kane/Undertaker contains markout value for the marks, Cena probably cannot carry show to a good match but if booked well (and to each's strengths, it could be decent), Foley/Orton could be a surprise, but who knows.
