JoeDirt Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 What do you think is WCW's best overall show from Bash at the Beach 94, where Hogan debuted, to Great American Bash 96, the PPV before the debut of the nWo? I know they ran some stupid angles back then...but there have to be SOME good shows, right?

But, I believe the suspension was lifted the following night.

But, I believe the suspension was lifted the following night. I think Hogan was just off making a movie. If you remember Hulk would miss a lot of shows then show up again until the nWo angle kicked off, that's when he started appearing on Nitro almost every week. Oddly enough, I believe a majority of the shows Hulk missed during his WCW days ended up being good, Starrcade '95 & Souled Out '98 being the two best examples.

WCW sucked in 1995, but Fall Brawl was the best of the year that I saw. I went cold turkey the night after Halloween Havoc until the nWo angle. Uncensored = horrible Superbrawl = not bad, but nothing at all memorable except for Roma. BATB = don't remember, must've been bad though.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I have a soft spot for the COTC that happened shortly after Hogan Debueted If i remember correctly it was Patriot/Bagwell vs Roma/Paul O - Unoffensive but unspectacular tag match that occured before I tired of Roma/Bagwell Johnny B Badd vs Honky Tonk Man - Campy Goodness with Honky's video Dustin/Dusty vs Buck/Funk - Dusty and Funk are enough for me to mark out Steamboat vs Austin - Great match - Love both guys Hogan vs Flair - Decent Match + I love Hogan and Flair I have absolutely no problem with any of those matches

But Hogan was probably working on Thunder in Paradise 12.

Tony Shivanoe acted like it was the end of the world, since shaving off Hogan's mustache, which he had for about 10+ years was a very big deal, atleast to him. Hogan even did an interview in which he proclaimed, in a serious tone, "THE STASH IS COMING BACK, BROTHER!!!"

Where did Hogan's mustache go?" Seriously, how could WCW think THAT was a good idea. Hogan could just grow the mustache back in a few weeks, no big deal. I'm sure even a 4 year old thought it was stupid. I also like to point out that Hogan actually shaved his mustache several times during the nWo years, and just kept the 5 O' Clock shadow. Tony Schivanoe didn't groan and act like it was the end of the world when Hogan shaved it off during the nWo years, by the way.

I wonder who came up with that angle. It had to be either Kevin Sullivan or Hulk himself. I do believe it was for a movie so it makes sense that way, even if it was a shitty angle. Hogan was heel, that's why Tony didn't care then.
