Vern Gagne Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 He doesn't need it against Foley. Have him drop it to someone else in the next few weeks.
Anya Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 You'd think so, but to who and who would they fight at WM? Whatever the case it needs to happen REALLY soon. Not in "a few weeks". There's only a few weeks till Mania. I am surprised Booker or RVD didn't win it.
Guest Coffey Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Might as well let Orton keep it. The "Intercontinental Champion" going over the "Hardcore Legend" seems good to me. Of course, if it changes to a tag match, as rumored, then I see no problem with him keeping it either. No one else is going to do anything with it. It's not like WWE wants people like Matt Hardy & The Hurricane to have something to do.
BifEverchad Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 He doesn't need it against Foley. Have him drop it to someone else in the next few weeks. Goldust didn't need it against Piper at Wrestlemania XII. But he was the IC Champion going into the Hollywood Backlot Brawl. I don't think it reall makes that much difference. But I would like to see him drop it to someone who would 'need' the Title for their WM spot. IE, Booker, RVD, or Matt Hardy.
Guest OnlyMe Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 It would add a caption, a selling point, to another match, though: Intercontinental Championship Rob Van Dam vs. Booker T Hardcore Legend Match Mick Foley vs. Randy Orton
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Those two matches do seem fitting. I don't believe that Randy Orton will drop it before WrestleMania XX, because if Chris Benoit is going over, then it will only be then that the gold can start to be taken from around the waists of Evolution.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 RVD and Booker T are obviously going to wrestle Batista and Flair for the Tag Titles.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 They should have Jericho vs. Matt Hardy for the IC title. But obviously that isn't going to happen.
Papacita Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Leave it on him. About time the belt was placed back into a semi-high profile position again.
Guest Goodear Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 They should have Jericho vs. Matt Hardy for the IC title. But obviously that isn't going to happen. Well of course not, because Jericho has got to be facing Christian to move the whole Trish storyline along. Hardy is probably out of the loop.
Youth N Asia Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 They'll keep it on him till they think he's more over..like the US title it's just kinda resting on someone's waist for no real reason right now.
Guest Goodear Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 The US strap is obviously on Show for the express purpose of handing it over to Cena at Wrestlemania. That's why it hasn't been defended so much, the WWE sees Show as a complete stop gap and don't want to weaken its other contenders to get the big guy over in anything other than battle royal situations.
The Tino Standard Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 They'll keep it on him till they think he's more over..like the US title it's just kinda resting on someone's waist for no real reason right now. More accurately, somebody's shoulder. Tubby Baloo is a little thick to be wearing title belts around his waist.
Kaertos Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Logical booking says he can't lose the belt before WM unless Foley costs him the match. I don't think that will happen because Orton / Foley doesn;t need more heat. It just needs to be kept at a simmer until WM. Besides, he still needs the belt if they go ahead with the oft-rumored "Evolution break-up" idea.
Scroby Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I think Orton should drop the belt to someone, so the fans can get a decent IC title match...like I said all the belts should be defended at WM 20.
ChrisMWaters Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I still am saying this...even though some people may disagree... Best of Seven Series... Booker T vs. Rob Van Dam Intercontinental Title. And if you want to follow WCW history with it...have Matt Hardy take the Fit Finley role.
humongous2002 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Logical booking says he can't lose the belt before WM unless Foley costs him the match. Besides, he still needs the belt if they go ahead with the oft-rumored "Evolution break-up" idea. It'll make more sense if Orton drops the title b4 the Evolution break up just for storyline purposes, the IC lost will make him more paranoid, Orton will stop trusting his Evolution buddies specially HHH, accusing him of being kept down by him and then he turns on Trips.
Kaertos Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I agree with you. I am just assuming that they won;t pull the trigger on the Evolution breakup until after WM. In fact Backlash is Raw-only, so I am guessing he might lose it there.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 He doesn't need it against Foley. Have him drop it to someone else in the next few weeks. Goldust didn't need it against Piper at Wrestlemania XII. But he was the IC Champion going into the Hollywood Backlot Brawl. You forget that they hadn't planned on it being Piper vs. Goldust at the start. It was suppose to be "Razor Ramon vs. Goldust" in the Hollywood backlot match for the IC Strap, but then Hall jumped to WCW and they got Piper as a quick replacement.
Guest Choken One Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 It scares me how Piper was ALWAYS the quickie replacement for everything in those days. How come no one recalls his President of WWF role in 1996?
Scroby Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I remember it, he took over for Gorilla (RIP) after Vader put Gorilla out and Piper made the annoucement for Bret vs HBK in the iron man match.
Guest Choken One Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I loved the promo he cut for it too "It won't be just any match...It'll be a IRONMAN match! But not no 15 minute or 30 minute or even a 45 minute...it's gonna be for ONE HOUR!"
Downhome Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Those two matches do seem fitting. I don't believe that Randy Orton will drop it before WrestleMania XX, because if Chris Benoit is going over, then it will only be then that the gold can start to be taken from around the waists of Evolution. You need to change your sig, it takes up OVER an entire page. I just thought I would point that out before you get bitched at by others.
The Amazing Rando Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 As I told Downhome on Monday... I was expecting Booker T to turn heel and cost RVD the title and win it himself... then we can (of course) see Teddy Long on TV again. Or RVD can do the "i don't care about anyone but RVD" type gimmick as he did in ECW and have him be the heel.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Possible *Spoiler*: The Rock and Batista will be incorporated into Mick Foley VS Randy Orton - a stupid move if ever there was one, as this fued is personal. What does this mean for the World Tag Team Championships? End *Spoiler*.
CanadianChick Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 That is so not happening. Isn't it obvious that Booker and RVD will go against Batista and Flair? I mean, the subtle double team moves Rob and Book were doing? Batista and Flair randomly attacking them after the match? The fact that there are no other face tag teams, except for the Dudleys (who they have feuded with) and the Superheros (a team no one will take seriously)? I think all signs point to RVD/Booker vs. Batista/Flair, and the Torch is on crack for reporting the Rock/Foley vs. Batisita/Orton match.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 About the topic, it'd be nice, but I don't see it happening.
AndrewTS Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I remember it, he took over for Gorilla (RIP) after Vader put Gorilla out and Piper made the annoucement for Bret vs HBK in the iron man match. I remember it, mainly because I had only been watching for less than a year, and when Piper showed up, I was like "who the hell is this guy?" So just imagine how I felt when they brought in Honky. Speaking of Honky, that's who Orton reminds me of now, without the heat. For some reason I think they'll keep it on him until Mania or after Mania. The start of the breakup angle seems a plausible reason to me.
