Aero Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 After just watching both matches this week, I think Vengeance is the better tag match. It seems to have the hotter crowd, all throughout, especially with Kidman's SSP outside and the pin that resulted in the crowd chanting "Bullshit!" Vengeance seems to be the more formula tag match and goes at a faster pace, IMO. No Mercy, while an outstanding match, has a slow start and around the end, everyone was all over the place running in and out. I pick Vengeance.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 I'd go with Kidman/Rey vs. TWGTT. Not only are both teams you know, REAL Teams (Kidman/Rey were Filthy Animals of course), but work a better tag team style and kept the match going with non-stop action. Plus I mark for WGTT.
Papacita Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Vengeance. The No Mercy match never really did it for me.
Guest Choken One Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Vengence by a mile. It had VERY nice crisp action, nice spots and very hot crowd.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Vengence by a mile. It had VERY nice crisp action, nice spots and very hot crowd. They weren't hot for Kidman until he did the SSP on the WGTT outside the ring, but after that they were pumped all the way. And I'm waiting for some schmuck to say "The crowd was more dead than when Orton is around" that posts shit like that in WWE Folder.
Guest wildpegasus Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Benoit/Angle vs Mysterio Jr./Edge for me though it would be nice to go back and watch that Vengenace match. There's nothing I really didn't like in the No Mercy match while there was at Vengeance. Enjoyed both of them though.
Kardo Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I didn't like Benoit/Angle vs. Edge/Rey very much. It joins my main problem with tag matches in general in the WWE; they are just worked like singles matches, no good double teams (other then abdominal stretch/kick), most of the time the action is sloowwww. That's why the WGTT vs. Kidman/Rey match was good, fast paced, quick moves, good double teams = good match.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I both really liked them, but yeah Vengeance wins by an inch.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 How strange, everyone (cept for wildpegasus) that voted for No Mercy didn't really say why.
Austin3164life Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 Vengeance was a REAL Tag match, whereas No Mercy was another one of those matches which is like a feature of two matches rolled up in one.
DCMaximo Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 The Vengeance match was my 2003 MOTY, so I have to go with that. It made me mark out for the first time in ages. Going into the match, I was sure that TWGTT would win, but the longer the match went on, the more convinced I was that Kidman-Rey would win. Hopefully, they'll give this new London-Kidman team a chance against Haas and Benjamin
Guest wildpegasus Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 How strange, everyone (cept for wildpegasus) that voted for No Mercy didn't really say why. It's because the No Mercy match is usually talked about as being one of the best WWE/WWF tags ever so people who pick the WGTT's match feel more of a need to say why because it's not talked about as much. One other reason why I think the No Mercy match is better is because they threw out a 22 min match and kept it great while Vengeance was only about 13-15 min. I remember the WGTT had a rematch very shortly afterwards on Smackdown that was very fun. For people who liked the PPV match, they should watch this too. BTW, are people here voting for their favourite or what they feel is the best match?

Benoit/Angle, the Tag Partners who hate each other, and the odd-ball combo of Edge & Mysterio didnt really do anything for me in a tag match. 2 singles matches would have stood out more for me.
SamoaRowe Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I always felt that the No Mercy 02 match was overrated. I'm not saying it was a bad match or anything, I just feel that those four went on to have better matches (including the forgotten 2/3 falls match that I saw in person two weeks before Survivor Series).
Kardo Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Nasty Boys vs. Money Inc. (Wrestlefest 1993) > Angle and Benoit vs. Rey and Edge
The Mandarin Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I remember the WGTT had a rematch very shortly afterwards on Smackdown that was very fun. For people who liked the PPV match, they should watch this too. That match was amazing. I didn't see the Vengeance, so it was pretty cool to see that stuff on TV. The reason it goes pretty much forgotten even though it was the best free TV tag match of 2003, is because it happened on the day of the blackout. I was fortunate enough to see it the next day.
Dangerous K89 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I vote for the No Mercy tag match since I was....there.
Aero Posted March 11, 2004 Author Report Posted March 11, 2004 Just about one month later, and it's a tie...
