Guest Coffey Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 So how is that an arguement? RVD is famous for busting people open and working a spotty, shitty, sloppy style. Just look at his fucking forearms and kicks from tonight's show for Christs' sake.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 As for the matches: RVD vs. Jeff Hardy - Invasion 2001 - Good, but had a better match at Summerslam I thought. The match that has been called "The Summerslam Shitfest"? 1/2*, at the most. They can throw the two big IC title ladder matches on there. I thought it was good when I first saw it...but I haven't seen it since. Was it that bad? A bunch of blown spots (including the finish) and an awfully slow pace killed it dead for me back then, and it hasn't aged well.

I also think Cena doesn't need or deserve a DVD right now, so early in his career. Cena should not be overhyped, and RVD's matches should not be watched repeatedly.

Was it that bad? and Shane Douglas is famous for being a big dickhead who burned his bridges with every promotion, and several times in some cases. I don't remember that match being that bad either. As for the DVD, I figure they might put one out if/when he resigns with the company. I figure if he does, they'll probably put one out...I mean, even if they don't want to push him to the top he IS popular, and it's all about making cash.
razazteca Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 I think the days of giving his opponets bloody teeth are behind him.
Guest Coffey Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 I think the days of giving his opponets bloody teeth are behind him. I don't know, it looked like Batista got stiffed a few times tonight when he was on the outside of the ring next to the guard barrier.

I don't know, it looked like Batista got stiffed a few times tonight when he was on the outside of the ring next to the guard barrier. And Batista isn't a cluts who hurts his opponents because he can't protect them right? Oh shit I'm defending RVD. Don't forget a few weeks ago he injured Scott Steiner at a house show.

Who else loved Flair and Orton literally guiding Captain Fuck Ups Power Botch on Foley last night?
Guest Coffey Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 That maybe true about Batista, but that still doesn't give RVD any right to suck and still people. That's like saying RVD is a bad wrestler, but so is Test. It's grabbing for straws. It was just the most recent example, thus I used it.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Average wrestling fan: RVD who? Like it or not, today's wrestling fans, the marks, care more about being entertainment than caring about real wrestling matches. RVD represents this hence their love for him.

I don't know, it looked like Batista got stiffed a few times tonight when he was on the outside of the ring next to the guard barrier. Would it be a bad thing if all of the matches where RVD screws up appear on a DVD? I remember Angle suplexed RVD on the outside to get even, I think Jericho used the real version of the Liontamer after getting kicked in the face, and it would be an excuse to put the Elimation Chamber on DVD.

You're just trying to take a personal shot at me. That's called flame-baiting. I'm not lobbying for a Raven DVD, now am I? Thanks for the trolling, you waste of space.
NoCalMike Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 The question is will it sell or not, not if you think RVD is a good wrestler. Isn't RVD one of wwe's top merchandise sellers, behind the big guys like Austin/Rock/UT? I remember his foam hands and first t-shirt selling like wildfire, he just got a new shirt, which is a good sign. Personally all wrestling debate aside, I think an RVD dvd would SELL more then a Cena DVD, I guess that's just me though.

Just pointing out that if the average fan wouldn't get a dvd becuase they didn't know who RVD was, well they wouldn't get many TNA DVD's. Hell most average wrestling fans would only know the top guys and maybe one undercard wrestler they thought looked cool or something.

And don't you feel you are taking this a bit personal too? There's nothing wrong with sharing your opinions about RVD, but when you start thinking that you are right and everybody else is wrong then you are going to have problems in this forum. I'm a RVD fan and i'm also a big Raven fan both guys had done a lot of good matches IMO to have their own DVDs. RVD is very marketable superstar and like it or not he's still over, hopefully someday Vince decides to give Rob some sort of push to get him to the next level, b/c i'm also getting tired of seeing him putting green rookies over without any payback.Raven was a wrestler nobody cared about, practically a jobber but look at him now. He's more motivated than ever b/c his character is getting the push he deserves. That's what Rob and 85% of the RAW roster needs a chance to get over.
Guest Goodear Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 And Batista isn't a cluts who hurts his opponents because he can't protect them right? Batista has hurt who exactly? Oh that's right. NO ONE. He's the one who got injured in a match with the Dudley Boys (who also managed to break Orton's ankle in the same match) and then got hurt again during rehab. All of these "OMG BATISTA WILL KILL SOMEONE" is the same crap that people have been saying about Lita for years. When either one of them actually hurts someone you can call me.
humongous2002 Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Batista hurt Orton back in 2002, with his Demon clothesline.

They're for the company's bottom line. The only question that matters is will it sell? And I'm pretty sure it would sell decently.
Guest JMA Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 The same can be said about any of those matches you listed. Good workers carrying RVD to watchable matches. I'd rather have an Ultimate Warrior DVD than RVD. He's better in the ring and was more over. Uh, no he wasn't a better wrestler. He got winded running to the ring. The only person today that compares to Warrior's "workrate" would be Nathan Jones.
Guest Coffey Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Actually, I think that the Ultimate Warrior was a better worker as well. He was less sloppy, that's for sure. He had more emotion too...which does actually matter. Rob Van Dam has never had a match as good as Warrior/Savage at Mania 7.

Honestly, any bodybuilder could've done what Hellwig did. And that match had nothing to do with Warrior AT ALL. It was quite possibly the best carry-job ever.

No...I think that would be Jerry Lynn making RVD look good NUMEROUS times. THAT is a carry job. And as for a moveset, you mean a spotset don't you? Honestly, most of his moves are flips FOR NO REASON, shitty kicks, and bad forearms. Throw out the 5-star frogsplash and split-legged moonsault, and RVD doesn't have any move worth a shit.
