DMann2003 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 It's announced in variety today that Smith will be doing a feature adaptation of "The Green Hornet" for Miramax. It's also covered on Smith's newsboard NewsAskew. Any thoughts, reactions?

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Big fan of Kevin Smith here. He revived the Green Arrow comics to great success, had a nice run with DareDevil, so I'm confident on his abilities for this other "Green" Dude. Hopefully it'll be a decent movie outing. Wonder who'll play the Hornet and Kato?
starvenger 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 If they made Kato a female played by Kelly Hu, I won't complain. Much. Seriously though, they should get Donnie Yen for Kato...
Beast 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Kevin Smith could remake Casablanca and I'd still expect an awesome movie. This is gonna be sa-weet.
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Kevin Smith To Helm The Green Hornet Smith to direct superhero film... Kevin Smith once vowed he would never direct a superhero movie, but it turns out he will. Smith will write and direct The Green Hornet. The script is expected to be completed by this summer. George Clooney and Jet Li were originally set to star in the film back when it was at Universal. It is unknown who will star now that Miramax has the project. WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Smith was supposed to have written, produced or directed about two dozen films in the past decade. Wasn't he supposed to be making Fletch Won next? I'll believe this one when I see it in the theaters.

I'll believe this one when I see it in the theaters. Yeah, Smith pretty much said "I won't do it without Jason Lee." The studio said no, and his reply was pretty much, "ah well, I'll do it anyway." I think Smith is gonna ditch Fletch altogether (and rightfully so) because he couldn't find a suitable replacement for Chevy.
Guest red_file Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Hmm. So this is the BIG NEWS he's been promising to reveal for a month? More than a little disappointing.

Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 George Clooney was already fucking Batman once. Personally I think Bruce Willis would make a cool Green Hornet. Dunno why. I just think Willis could pull off a comic book type superhero.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Personally I think Bruce Willis would make a cool Green Hornet. Dunno why. I just think Willis could pull off a comic book type superhero. His performance in "Unbreakable" is why you probably think that.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 No, no. Unbreakable he doesn't really have that goofyness/quirkyness. It's sort of that Blind Date/Die Hard/Pulp Fiction type quirkyness and sense of humour that I think would translate well. I guess in a way John McCaine is a superhero. I was thinking you meant the seriousness part of him that can translate well into a super-hero character, like in Unbreakable. My bad there.

This was on newsaskew.com, I think it came from the View Askew message board first, but it's from Kevin. WHAT'S THIS MEAN FOR "FLETCH WON" and "RANGER DANGER"? Everything just gets pushed back a year. If it's any consolation, Harvey's insisting we go right into "Fletch" after "Hornet" wraps. So they should still be doing it.
