JoeDirt Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 For me it's the following: 1) Caesar's Palace at WM9 2) Houston for WM17 3) Wembley Stadium for Summerslam 92 Of course there's MSG, the old Boston Garden, Skydome, so many more...what sticks out to you?
Drury37 Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 I think you named my top 3 but let me add the Silverdome for WWF WrestleMania III and the Hoosier Dome for WWF WrestleMania VIII. Thanks.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Thomas & Mack Center - No Way Out 01
Drury37 Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Let me add Safeco Field for WWE WrestleMania XIX. Thanks.
Guest ToddRoyal Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 In the same vein as MSG and Boston Garden, the old Philadelphia Spectrum always has a distinct look. Watching old WWF tapes, you could always tell when a match was at one of the big 3 venues.
Drury37 Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 In the same vein as MSG and Boston Garden, the old Philadelphia Spectrum always has a distinct look. Watching old WWF tapes, you could always tell when a match was at one of the big 3 venues. Yeah I agree with you there. Thanks.
JHawk Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 The Sportatorium in Dallas. The Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. And of course the big three for the WWF. Many historic matches in those six venues.
Drury37 Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 I like SkyDome for WWF WrestleMania VI but I do not think it has been that great in any event the WWF has had there since but maybe that is just me. Thanks.
King Kamala Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Sportatorium is such a great venue cause it has such an old school look, small, crowded and ugly. You knew just by looking at it that you wouldn't be seeing any technical masterpieces in there. The Silverdome is an awesome venue for big shows cause it has such an epic look. I think if the WWF could have actually sold enough tickets for Wrestlemania VII, the LA Coliseum would have looked frikking awesome.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 I'm suprised Vince didn't try to get the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum booked for WrestleMania XV, 2000, or X-Seven. Considering those events took place during the WWF's biggest years (1999, 2000, first few months of 2001), and were getting ratings up to 7.0, I wouldn't be suprised if they were able to fill out that stadium. He could have had WrestleMania 2000 from there. It would have been great.
Guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 The best building for shows now is the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia or rather any building in Philly. The crowd is always hot and at the Center you always have a great view of the action.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 For me it's always been MSG. Best venue ever.
Guest MikeSC Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Well, I always liked the old Techwood Drive TBS Studios. Also Manhattan Centre. And I'm honestly shocked that nobody mentioned the Hammerstein Ballroom yet. Never seen a small arena that looked bigger in my life. -=Mike
The Czech Republic Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I wish there had been a major WWF show at the Chicago Stadium. What if they did all the entrance music on the organ? That would've been interesting but alas.
Betty Houle Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 In the same vein as MSG and Boston Garden, the old Philadelphia Spectrum always has a distinct look. Watching old WWF tapes, you could always tell when a match was at one of the big 3 venues. True. Same with the Maple Leaf building.
The Tino Standard Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I personally will always have a soft spot in my heart for Gund Arena because it's my hometown building and I've seen many events there... But on a more objective basis, I'd have to say MSG. Nothing beats it. Can't wait to watch WMXX and see the Garden looking pimped out once again.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I mark for the ECW Arena.
Guest Sturgis Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Well, I always liked the old Techwood Drive TBS Studios. Also Manhattan Centre. Guest Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 They are on different stories of the same building.
Guest Markingout Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Yeah the Hammerstein Ballroom is awesome. You can see from everywhere. Would of been awesome too be in the front row of the middle deck. I remember the Elks Lodge being awesome for indy shows.
yankovic fan Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 I just can't believe they don't use the New Orleans Superdome as huge as it is. They hold all the wrestling shows at the near by arena which is like "mini-me" compared to the dome.

Heck, NWA had Clash VI at the SuperDome, with Steamboat v Flair 2/3 falls --- and they drew about 6,000 fans. -=Mike
treble Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Didn't they have a Nitro there once that Master P claimed he would sell out since he was going to be rapping to continue the rap/country feud? I doubt that did good business. The Astrodome for X-Seven was awesome, especially during the early parts of the show where it was still light out so there was some natural light coming in through the glass parts of the roof. Not to mention the fact that the entrance area was awesome, too.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Yeah the Hammerstein Ballroom is awesome. You can see from everywhere. Would of been awesome too be in the front row of the middle deck. Is this the arena that ECW used to go to that looked alot bigger and well-lit than their usual arenas?
Sandman9000 Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Viking Hall (Phily, PA) Hammerstein Ballroom (NY) Elks Lodge (NY) Tokyo Dome (duh) Kouraken Hall (Osaka, I believe, may be wrong)

I miss the old Boston Garden... oh memories
JJMc Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 How about the arena that Raw is at every week?
The Czech Republic Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 In the same vein as MSG and Boston Garden, the old Philadelphia Spectrum always has a distinct look. Watching old WWF tapes, you could always tell when a match was at one of the big 3 venues. True. Same with the Maple Leaf building. Yeah MLG has a look, the seats that are steep on two sides and go far back on the other two...I think I know what you mean. Cool cool building. Oddly enough, the Rosemont Horizon, of all places, has a distinct look...the big wooden roof, plus the Daily Herald ads that scream "suburbia." They really cleaned that building up when they changed the name to Allstate Arena. Though their sno-cones are another story. Oh dear.
King Kamala Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 How about the Manhattan Center that was used for the early RAWs and some ECW shows, that had a very distinct almost indyish look in them. It could only fit around 1000 people give or take a few hundred.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 A little late, but Madison Square Garden was always #1....until WWE fucked up and made it look like any other arena for RAWs/SD shows. So many events telecasted on MSG Network until 1992, just became my favorite arena and didn't need to be a giant arena or have flashy look to it. The dimmed crowd look always was cool too.
